The Port Hope conversion facility is seeking a HVAC & refrigeration mechanic to join our maintenance team.

As a member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the various types of installs, repairs, adjustments, calibrations, modifications and service all conversion heating, ventilating and air conditioning and refrigeration units.

• C of Q Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (313A)
• Must have completed 5 year apprenticeship.
• Must have 5 years’ experience in an industrial setting.

Santé Manitouwadge Health is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, confident team player for the position of Permanent Part-Time Maintenance Engineer. Under the direction of the Maintenance Lead Hand, the incumbent will assist with the efficient operation, maintenance and general repairs of the Hospital and all related properties. The maintenance department reports directly to the CEO.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Grade 12 education.

• Valid Driver’s License.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills is an asset.

• Must have a good knowledge of building systems and plant operations, maintenance, electrical and construction practices.

• Proven ability to work unsupervised, as well as part of a team.

• Must be available for weekends and evenings on-call as required.

• Must provide a vulnerable sector check.

• Must be able to use computers in day-to-day duties. 

• Trades certification an asset.

Duties:

• Perform mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC requirements of the hospital and associated properties.

• DEP in mechanics or equivalent, an asset;
• 5 to 10 years of experience in industrial maintenance;

Job Summary: Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for cleaning as well as performing minor maintenance and repair duties at our branch facilities including: washing toilets and hand basins; dusting; sweeping, mopping, waxing and polishing floors; vacuuming; basic plumbing; minor carpentry and repair work; painting and touch-up work; and maintaining outside grounds. The incumbent also assists the Trades Maintenance workers with minor jobs and furniture moves as required.

Job Requirements:

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

• Completion of the tenth school grade and completion of a training course as a Building Service Worker plus considerable related experience in building trades and maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Working knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in the painting, plumbing and carpentry trades and general building maintenance, janitorial and gardening work.
• Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and precautionary measures as related to the building trades and general maintenance.
• Ability to understand oral and written instructions and effectively carry them out.
• Ability to maintain satisfactory relationships with the other library employees.
• Ability to carry out any carpentry, plumbing or painting repairs or maintenance to gardens, fixtures and equipment not requiring the services of a fully qualified tradesman.
• Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision.
• Skill in the use of a variety of hand and power operated tools.
• Ability to climb ladders and work on scaffolding or in cramped and awkward positions.

• Driver's license for the Province of British Columbia where applicable.

Shift schedule: Shifts are from 4am – 12pm and may occur Monday through Sunday. Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, including Sundays and Tuesdays. Please ensure your application specifies your ongoing availability for shifts.

At Day & Ross, our dock team is an important part of our business. As a Forklift Operator, you’ll help us handle inbound and outbound customer freight and protect it from damage. You'll also help us keep a safe and clean work environment on the dock.

How You’ll Help: 

• Handle big and bulky freight on the dock, both on and off a forklift.
• Follow TDG, WHMIS, and company policies, as well as any customer requirements.
• Pay attention to the details. Receive and ship freight accurately and efficiently.
• Other duties as required.

Your Skills & Experience: 

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous transportation or dock experience is preferred
• Willingness and ability to lift up to 75 lbs. 
• Ability to work efficiently with little to no supervision
