  • Must be able to work overtime when required and willing to help out when necessary as per customer demands
  • Must be organized and clean up the area and equipment at the end of the shift
  • Must be able to communicate issues/problems to supervisor or manager
  • Willing to modify work hours and shifts on short notice as required

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning all preventive and corrective maintenance work to ensure the proper functioning of production machinery, services and the preservation of the integrity of the building. He ensures that he understands, evaluates and plans all operational, quality, health and safety and environmental requests.

To-do list

  • Understand and evaluate work requests and plan preventive and corrective work orders. Establish work schedules;
  • Communicate work to supervisors so that they can manage their staff's schedules and required parts;
  • Participate in production meetings in order to be able to plan the resulting work;
  • Be proactive during production shutdowns to direct the maintenance team towards the work in the lists;
  • Handle planning with external contractors for periodic type work;
  • Close and file work orders so they can be easily found;
  • Create/update preventive procedures and tasks for existing equipment and for any new equipment in the maintenance management software;
  • Manages the identification of all plant equipment. Ensures that all equipment is labeled with the correct number according to the maintenance management software;
  • Participate in quality and health-safety/environment audits in order to plan corrective and preventive actions;
  • Document audits and keep track of progress of corrective actions;
  • Participate in the standardization of installations;
  • Continuously improves maintenance management software and work orders in terms of planning, distribution, monitoring, documentation and closure;
  • If necessary, in the absence of the supervisor, coordinate work with maintenance employees and subcontractors;
  • Support maintenance supervisors for parts purchasing and store structure;
  • Train users of the maintenance management software as needed;
  • Produce periodic reports on maintenance costs vs. budget and performance of maintenance departments (e.g., machine downtime, work order execution vs. requested, etc.);
  • Other related tasks.

SQF/HACCP requirements:

  • Ensure that his actions in his function support the manufacture of products with the quality and food safety criteria defined by the company;
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code and report any food safety issues to authorized personnel;

Training-Skills and experience required

  • DEP in mechanics or equivalent, an asset;
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in industrial maintenance;
  • Proficient in computer tools, in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and maintenance planning software;
  • Knowledge of Intéral software, an asset;
  • Bilingual French / English, spoken and written;
  • Be an excellent communicator;
  • Good ability to work under pressure;
  • Have a sense of organization, priorities and a taste for teamwork;

JOB SUMMARY

Fleet Maintenance & Technical Services is responsible for: scheduled, unscheduled and emergency service; seasonal overhauls; vehicle commissioning/decommissioning; vehicle inspections and certifications; warranty monitoring; shop and specialty tool maintenance/management; maintenance of small equipment and special equipment such as fire, ambulance, ice resurfacing, turf, etc.; repair performance analysis; and Technical Services including specifying, acquiring, leasing and disposing of Municipal Fleet Vehicles.

You are responsible for performing a wide range of duties expected of a Vehicle and Equipment Technician 2, including, but not limited to, the following: conducting diagnostic inspections, performing general mechanical overhaul and repair work, and performing scheduled preventive daily maintenance inspections and repairs on vehicle system and components including, but not limited to, steering, suspension, electrical, ignition, fuel, emission control/exhaust and engine management, hydraulics, and vehicular climate control systems.  

You perform all maintenance and repairs to a wide variety of fleet vehicles systems and components including, but not limited to, vehicles powered by gas, diesel, propane or natural gas, tractors, graders, loaders, dozers, cranes, mowers, heavy vehicles (i.e. garbage trucks, zambonis, ice resurfacing equipment, etc.), and automotive associated equipment including, but not limited to, boilers and compressors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Truck and Coach Technician 310T apprenticeship program of 6720 hours

Minimum of 2 years of experience within a Municipal Fleet or similar truck and coach environment

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Truck and Coach Technician 310T
Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Motorcycle Technician 310G for specific positions
TSSA Regulated Fuels Safety certificate (natural gas, propane and/or alternate fuel) for specific positions
Current Ontario Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certificate card for specific positions
Valid Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated is an asset

You are responsible for performing duties associated with the operation and maintenance of all City facilities including but not limited to; minor maintenance and carpentry tasks, painting, grounds maintenance, snow removal, basic repair duties for facilities equipment and general housekeeping tasks while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and customer service. You may be responsible to work rotational shifts including days, evenings and weekends. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Grade 10

Up to one month of related experience

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates are assets

KNOWLEDGE

  • General facility cleanliness and safe work practices
  • Cleaning chemicals and disinfectants and safe application/procedures
  • Effective cleaning techniques
  • WHMIS
  • Customer Service principles
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary: Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for cleaning as well as performing minor maintenance and repair duties at our branch facilities including: washing toilets and hand basins; dusting; sweeping, mopping, waxing and polishing floors; vacuuming; basic plumbing; minor carpentry and repair work; painting and touch-up work; and maintaining outside grounds. The incumbent also assists the Trades Maintenance workers with minor jobs and furniture moves as required.

 

Job Requirements:

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Completion of the tenth school grade and completion of a training course as a Building Service Worker plus considerable related experience in building trades and maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in the painting, plumbing and carpentry trades and general building maintenance, janitorial and gardening work.
  • Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and precautionary measures as related to the building trades and general maintenance.
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions and effectively carry them out.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory relationships with the other library employees.
  • Ability to carry out any carpentry, plumbing or painting repairs or maintenance to gardens, fixtures and equipment not requiring the services of a fully qualified tradesman.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Skill in the use of a variety of hand and power operated tools.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on scaffolding or in cramped and awkward positions.

  • Driver's license for the Province of British Columbia where applicable.
