The Energy Analyst is an entry level role responsible for providing reporting, analytical support, technical/engineering insight, and support delivering programs around energy and utility data management, & sustainability program development. The Energy Analyst will work closely with the Energy and Sustainability Manager to successfully deliver on client key performance indicators (KPIs).

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Energy & Sustainability Reporting

  • Prepares standard energy and sustainability reports including conducting simple analyses.
  • Supports the delivery of energy and sustainability reports used to meet KPI’s and contract deliverables.

Program Management

  • Assists in the development of, and delivery of energy and sustainability strategies.
  • Works closely with the Corporate utilities team to execute weather correction calculations that address weather sensitivity and seasonality of energy accounts.
  • Identifies buildings of interest on an exception basis for additional scrutiny to identify energy efficiency projects.
  • Reviews buildings and or systems identified as exceptions/buildings of interest, to explore in more detail opportunities for energy savings with the support/expertise of BGIS’ Corporate energy and engineering groups.
  • Supports the Energy and Sustainability Manager to present progress/findings to client and the BGIS Leadership team.

Utility Analysis

  • Supports Accounts Payable team in identifying billing anomalies and data inputting errors.
  • Works with Corporate BI Team to develop new and existing dashboards to help achieve goals and expand value to client in the areas of investigation and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Technologist diploma or University degree, preferably Mechanical or Engineering related area
  • 1-3 years job related experience; experience with energy auditing would be beneficial
  • Good understanding of building systems (mechanical/electrical)
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel. Strong MS Word skills. Working experience with MS Access or other database software would be beneficial
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of units of energy / utility measurement and conversion calculations
  • Appreciation of utility tariff structures and utility bill generation and processing including deregulated market structures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good administrative skills including documentation standards
  • Appreciation of financial reporting requirements

JOB SUMMARY


The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team provides safe, reliable, efficient, timely and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services to support federally regulated transit services within the City of Ottawa. 
 

You are responsible for performing a wide range of duties expected of a Truck and Coach Technician, including, but not limited to, the following: conducting diagnostic inspection of vehicles*, performing general mechanical overhaul and repair work , and performing daily maintenance repairs.  You perform all unit changes or repairs to Fleet vehicles (including but not limited to transmission, brakes, suspensions, electrical components, injectors, radiators, steering, differentials and air systems) and make miscellaneous adjustments to doors, destination signs and other vehicle systems.
 

vehicles*-refers to buses within the Transit Fleet Maintenance Division and any other Fleet vehicle within the Municipal Maintenance Division (cars/trucks, forklifts, etc.). 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Completion of Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship program of 6720 hours
Completion of advanced technical courses is an asset

Minimum of 1 year of experience following attainment of certification

 

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Truck and Coach Technician 310T

KNOWLEDGE

  • City policies and procedures affecting shop operations
  • Considerable knowledge of the vehicle systems, and the standard methods, tools, and equipment used in the trade

Roadway Maintenance Inspector II Full-time Job

Job Details

As a Roadway Maintenance Inspector II, you will inspect, assess and provide direction for any and all infrastructure related inquiries pertaining to horizontal assets within Road Right of Way (ROW). You are typically the first point of contact for 311 concerns and will be a crucial relay for interdepartmental communication. You are also responsible for coordinating restoration for requested work through the On Street Construction and Maintenance (OSCAM) process, ensuring that work is completed according to the City’s Design and Construction Standards.

Some responsibilities will be:

  • Inspection of inquiries from citizens, counselors and other sources for deficiencies in ROW to identify safety concerns, investigate root cause of issues, determine appropriate repair methods and execute work according to the City’s priority matrix
  • Ensure proper documentation is followed through the 311 notification process from receipt of complaint to repair completion, as well as any email correspondence related to inquiries
  • Assessment of possible infrastructure deficiencies that could result in slip hazards (ie. ice build up on sunken sidewalk) during winter
  • Inspection of utility cuts requiring restoration by Infrastructure Maintenance as identified through the OSCAM application process. This involves inspection, coordination and completion of restoration as required by the City’s Design and Construction Standards. Proper documentation is followed through the use of the
  • Inspector Repair Detail Form (IRDF) linked to the OSCAM process
  • Resource coordination with District Roadway Maintenance Supervisor (RMS) to ensure inquiries and locations are completed according to our priority matrix 
  • Schedule the work according to the resources provided by the RMS
  • Complete and store proper documentation of required and finished work
  • Coordination with District Technician to control and maintain inventory of materials delivered, transferred and used by various programs
  • Coordination with other areas to effectively track and monitor crew production, material placement and overall program deliverables
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of roadway inspection
  • Possession of a Class 5 Alberta Vehicle Operator’s License and the ability to qualify for a City driving permit
  • Completion of the following courses from NAIT or equivalent training from an accredited institution would be an asset: Soil Mechanics, Effective Communications I, and Pavement Materials Testing
  • Knowledge of all types of asphalt and concrete repair and restoration methods utilized by the city and how they relate to the City’s Design and Construction Standards
  • Analytical and conceptual skills including routing and scheduling of work orders to maximize repair efficiency and minimize impact to the public
  • Proficiency in SAP is required for all stages of the notification process map (from receipt to closing notification as work completed)
  • Familiarity with Envista, POSSE, and Slim applications to help Inspectors locate OSCAM permits, utility maps, upcoming projects, etc

  • Interpret and convert blueprints/plans to APEX sketch building drawings for residential property assessment purposes
  • Interpret and convert blueprints/plans to APEX sketch building drawings for non-residential property assessment purposes (e.g. commercial, industrial, retail, special purpose, etc.)
  • Respond to and prioritize incoming work from queues
  • Manage cyclical increases to regular work volumes
  • Update existing drawings of buildings under construction at various stages, up to 100% complete.
  • Document current drafting practices
  • Initiate and complete improvements to work manuals or processes, including documentation
  • Test and/or upgrade TACS modules as they relate to Apex software
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of a two (2) year Architectural Technology or Interior Design Technology diploma from a recognized institute of technology or educational equivalent
  • Two (2) years in architectural residential drafting experience or two (2) years of progressively responsible drafting experience
  • Ability to use drafting software (e.g. AutoCad, Revit, Apex, etc.)
  • Knowledge of construction procedures and surveying practices
  • Ability to understand detailed plans and specifications
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as necessitated by work assignments
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace is an asset
