JOB SUMMARY
The mandate of the Quality, Epidemiology, Strategy and Technology (QUEST) Service Area is to play an integral role in supporting and informing all public health programming requirements to ensure the application of effective and evidence-informed public health practices, and that Ottawa Public Health (OPH) programs and services are reflective of local population health needs, and implemented through key partnerships and communication/knowledge exchange modalities. Programs and service areas include: Population Health Assessment, Health Equity, Operational and Strategic Planning, Evaluation and Evidence-Informed Decision Making (EIDM), Research, Epidemiology and Surveillance, Quality Improvement, Knowledge Exchange and Digital Health Strategy and Information Technology Support.
The Knowledge Exchange Specialist is responsible for the initiation, development, implementation, socialization, monitoring and evaluation of the effective use of Evidence and EIDM processes at OPH. As a Knowledge Exchange Specialist for Evidence, you will be responsible for the initiation, coordination, and support for a renewed Evidence Committee within OPH. In addition, the Knowledge Exchange Specialist will be responsible for implementing strategic and operational activities for the Research Support Team who facilitate, oversee, monitor, and report on OPH research activities.
Leveraging leadership skills, The Knowledge Exchange Specialist will advance tools and best practices that facilitate evidence generation, EIDM, standard approach to evaluation and applicable knowledge exchange within OPH and between OPH and partners. A key role will be to work collaboratively to build organizational capacity and fulfill the strategic commitment of applying the best available evidence to positively impact our community and improve our work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Master’s degree in health sciences or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of related experience working in the field of knowledge exchange in public health and/or with health care partners.

Qualifications
- Degree, Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline with coursework in health and safety
- Degree - Four (4) years experience, Diploma - Six (6) years of experience as an OHS professional, with loss prevention experience and working knowledge in areas such as process safety management, safety management system development and implementation, incident/injury prevention, hazard identification, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis. Equivalencies with years of experience and education may be considered
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Construction Safety Officer (CSO) would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of municipalities, municipal governance and unionized environments
- Knowledge of internal and external audits, the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program, and/or ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standard
- Experience with Contractor Management is considered an asset for this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Maintains inventory, ensuring medications are properly stored, safe and secure.
- Administers prescribed treatments as ordered by the physician, such as catheterizations, respiratory therapies, suctions, exercise, wound irrigations, and hot pack therapies using electronic/manual equipment for treatments, e.g., suction machine, hydrocullator.
- Administers first aid and emergency health measures, such as CPR.
- Prepares and applies clean and sterile dressings and bandages, and replaces, as required. Cleans wounds and lesions. Removes stitches and clips. Practices sterile techniques and other infection control procedures to minimize the transmission of infection.
- Monitors and participates in the personal care of residents/clients, as required; for example, hygiene, feeding, positioning, transferring, ambulation, toileting.
- Uses electric/hydraulic/manual equipment and lifting devices.
- Checks resident/client diet for therapeutic composition.
- Liaises, refers and advocates with community resources to coordinate admittances, transfers, and departures/deaths: hospitals (acute care, rehabilitation, and palliation), public health department, home care program, long term care facilities, ambulance services, diagnostic services, the coroner's office and social services.
- Prepares and maintains documentation such as charts, nursing records, statistics, and reports.

Key Qualifications:
