Mainframe Developer Full-time Job

Reporting to the Senior Manager Development, the Mainframe COBOL Developer will lead multiple development projects and be responsible for supporting application solutions for Canadian business line. The successful candidate will be partnering with multiple teams in delivering requirements for core regulatory and compliance platforms.   • Act as an expert technical resource for problem analysis and solution implementation
  • Support applications, evaluate problems, identify actions to be taken and recommend/implement solutions. Understand and work in accordance with Bank application architectural guidelines.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Interact with business clients to help resolve and explain system questions and issues.
  • Work closely with all team members and deal effectively with external vendors, Business partners, Internal stakeholders and Management    
  • Provide analysis and coding support for host applications and infrastructure implementations
  • Must be fluent in English, oral and written, with excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to understand, document and share key system information with their colleagues, support groups, other technical staff, business partners and management.

The incumbent is also required to provide ongoing support on the production processing functionality
  • Requires to be on pager rotation for 24x7  for application support (overnight batch)
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • 5+ years of experience in mainframe development complex programs using Cobol, JCL, IMS DB/DC, DB2, Netron, VSAM, CICS, CA7, SAS, SDSF.
  • Experience with Security and environment control systems (Endevor, ACF2), Problem Analysis (Fault Analyzer) , Database Management (e.g. IMS, DB2, VSAM)
  • Experience in Utilities and productivity tools (e.g. MVS/TSO, UCANDU, ACR, COMPAREX, SYNCSORT, IDCAMS, CRF, File Manager and etc.) an asset
  • Experience working in an agile environment and SDLC methodology
  • Understanding of File Transfer protocols and processes ie. FTP, SFTP, PGP Encryption
  • Strong knowledge of DB2 database, z/OS Debugger, DFSORT, JCL and COBOL
  • Understanding mainframe integration for ETL processing
  • Experience and knowledge of DevOps
  • Experience and knowledge of Assembly programming language an asset.
  • Experience and knowledge of web services and APIs an asset
  • Experience and knowledge of web and cloud (Azure) technologies an asset
  • Prior experience in production support
  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or technical equivalent
  • An understanding of current IT practices and systems development techniques
  • Familiarity with data integration and data streaming, WebSphere MQ and Communication Networks
  • Familiarity with event driven programming concepts
  • Exposure to Data Modelling and Data Architecture
  • 2-3 years experience support on UNIX RHEL 8.x

What do you need to succeed?

 

Must-have

  • 3+ years’ experience with Angular 6+, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript.

  • 3+ years’ experience using and developing RESTful APIs and microservices

  • 3+ years developing on the MEAN stack.

  • Knowledge of developing distributed cloud applications (Pivotal Cloud Foundry, OpenShift, Docker); Hands on experience designing, developing, testing and troubleshooting RESTful API and interface specifications (Swagger, SOAP)

  • Knowledge of security gateways and protocols (JWT, OAuth2.0, OIDC, SSL Certificates)

  • Full software development life-cycle experience with CICD and thorough testing prior to release

  • Identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses through application security assessments, code reviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability scanning.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized Institute of Technology or University program in an appropriate specialty specifically related to Infrastructure administration and analysis and a minimum of four (4) year’s progressively responsible experience in Infrastructure administration and maintenance.
    • OR Post Secondary Diploma in a related discipline and a minimum of five (5) year’s progressively responsible experience in Infrastructure administration and maintenance.
    • OR one (1) year related certificate in a relevant computer certificate programs generally have a minimum of 700+ instructional hours and will include relevant course work to the position. Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or GED is required. Pluse, seven (7) year’s progressively responsible experience in Infrastructure administration and maintenance.
  • Experience with supported Windows server operating systems, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Exchange 2016 and Blackberry UEM, VMware ESXi server 6.x/7.x, XenApp 7.x, enterprise backup solutions, Storage Area Networks, and enterprise grade server hardware.
  • Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell.
  • Experience with MFA, SSO and identity management standards like SAML and OAuth.
  • Familiarity with profile management solutions such as FSLogix.

  • Microsoft 365 or Azure certifcations would be considered an asset.
