  • Loads, transports and unloads refuse, materials, tools and equipment.
  • Performs maintenance, regular servicing and safety checks of equipment.
  • Maintains interior and exterior of equipment in clean, neat condition.
  • Assists with the servicing of equipment, as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 education.
  • Three years’ related experience operating a variety of equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 1A Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.
  • Successful completion of, or ability to complete successfully, a recognized training module for heavy equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the safe and efficient operation of the equipment, and the uses and maintenance characteristics of the equipment.
  • Knowledge of the methods used in loading, transporting and unloading refuse, materials and equipment.
  • Ability to deal courteously with the public and other civic employees.

Traffic Assessment Investigator Full-time Job

JOB SUMMARY

Road Safety & Traffic Investigations is responsible for coordinating and directing traffic investigations, collecting, analyzing and processing traffic field data, and developing procedures to enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians through the continuous review of evolving traffic and collision patterns and the timely revision of speed limits and upgraded traffic control devices. The unit manages the implementation, monitoring, assessment, refinement and development of installation criteria for traffic control devices and safety initiatives such as the Community Safety Zone Program and Adult Crossing Guard Program to maximize their effectiveness, and is responsible for the investigation of fatal collisions to determine the role of the road and its infrastructure in the cause or severity of those collisions.

You carry out investigations of complaints and requests concerning traffic safety, congestion, parking and vehicular conflict problems.  You conduct traffic field investigations and collect, summarize and verify pertinent traffic data by conducting appropriate traffic surveys (speed and delay surveys, traffic volume counts, visibility sight distance surveys, parking usage surveys and other specialized observance surveys as required).  You also prepare sketches, take photographs and field measurements of problem locations, interview complainants and other involved parties for additional information, and submit completed traffic assessment assignments to a Traffic Assessment Specialist for review and approval.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 2 year technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or other engineering related course

Minimum of 3 years of experience in traffic investigations, traffic operations and transportation engineering or an equivalent transportation related field.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Data collection and research techniques
  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Fundamentals of traffic engineering
  • Ontario Highway Traffic Act and Traffic Manuals, city’s Traffic and Parking By-law

The Traffic Agent will provide critical traffic control and congestion management for the City of Toronto's Transportation Services Division, by implementing traffic mitigation measures, as it relates to the public Right of Way and in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and City of Toronto Municipal Code and related provincial legislation.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Implementing congestion management measures by directing traffic at intersections to ensure the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
  • Directs the flow of traffic within the City of Toronto and ensures barricades and other measures are implemented to ease congestion and ensure the safety and security of the public for all modes of Transportation.
  • Provides in field active traffic management and educates the public on traffic operations at various projects not limited but including construction, signal activation and maintenance, events and critical intersections.
  • Provides traffic coordination, parking enforcement and responds to vehicle and pedestrian related emergencies or other emergencies that occur on the roadway.
  • Prepares and confirms details of incident reports as required.
  • Carries out the duties of a sworn Special Constable/Peace Officer, Provincial Offences Officer and agent in accordance with Canadian/Provincial/Municipal laws and established contracts, agreements, policies and procedures, etc.
  • Treats the public with respect and dignity and ensures compliance with AODA requirements.
  • Provides feedback that assists with developing and implementing traffic mitigation measures and background research. Provides a summary-in-brief with the outcome and forwards recommendations.
  • Ensures compliance with emergency preparedness measures and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Responds to emergencies affecting the safety of those on the highway (i.e. falling glass from buildings, fallen scaffolding on roadways, flying debris, collisions, etc.) and initiates the attendance of emergency responders when required.
  • Assists in the safe and timely movement of emergency vehicles through intersections.
  • Promotes compliance with the City of Toronto's by-laws and provincial statutes and educates members of the public of their responsibilities as they relate to the Right of Way.
  • Participates and/or leads the review of existing, and the development of new programs and processes related to the Right of Way.
  • Creates and Conducts educational programs and trains new staff.

Key Qualifications:

  • Ability to complete in-house Aquatic Training within 6 months of hire.
  • Possession of Red Cross Swim Kids 10 (Aqua Quest 12) or Red Cross Aqua Leader certification is an asset.
  • Possession of Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association, or other recognized certification in fitness is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the theory, philosophy, standards, trends, and practises of recreation program planning, particularly in a municipal setting.

Waste Collection Operator Full-time Job

Waste Collections is responsible for residential waste collection programs and services (including garbage, recycling, organics, and yard and leaf waste) for the two collection zones awarded to the City (currently totalling 114,119 homes).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Grade 10

Minimum of 2 years of recycling and refuse collection experience is required.  Additional years of driving heavy road equipment may offset years of experience in the waste collection industry.

An IMPACT Associate can support tradespersons, supervisors, managers, equipment operators or administrative teams in various areas. Areas of interest can include water & sewer utilities, roads and concrete construction, residential waste collection and street cleaning, working alongside project coordinators and technicians in traffic signals or SCADA.

 

An IMPACT Associate will attend safety meetings, site inspections, contractor meetings, pre-construction, and any other related meetings. They will also participate in the development or completion of related documentation.

Position Summary

The City of Regina is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Council Officer to join our team!  As a Council Officer, you will provide executive administrative support and interpretation, advice and guidance on procedure and protocol to members of City Council and its bodies (committees, boards, commissions). 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides logistical support to Council and its bodies to organize and execute meetings – confirm space, prepare agendas, prepare and assemble materials, ensure all meeting materials are provided to committee members, Administration, interested parties and the general public
  • Manages timelines to meet legislative requirements and applicable deadlines specific to each committee and quasi-judicial board
  • Undertakes research to prepare, assemble and provide confidential files, reports, correspondence and background material required by Council and Administration for meetings and quasi-judicial board hearings
  • Researches, prepares and provides information in response to requests from Council and committee members, Administration, community stakeholders and the general public
  • Provides advice to Council and its bodies with respect to the application of procedure, protocol, bylaws and legislation
  • Researches, prepares and provides information throughout the committee appointment process
  • Attends meetings as secretary to the Committee to manage delegations, record proceedings and provide advice on procedure and legislative requirements
  • Compiles the full record of the meeting, including the minutes, decisions and any relevant correspondence
  • Conveys the results of the meeting to Administration, interested parties and the general public and communicates the Committee’s decision to City Council
  • Provides advice, information and customer service to citizens, community stakeholders, City employees, committee members and Council, with respect to protocol and procedure before, during and after meetings
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Council and committee members through demonstrated confidentiality, trustworthiness, integrity and enthusiasm
  • Provides training, education and ongoing coaching to Council, new and established Committee members, Administration and citizens on protocol, procedures and practices

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of administrative practices related to meeting organization, minute taking, report writing, document management as well as databases and other electronic applications (word processing, spreadsheets, agenda preparation software, numerous City software applications)
  • Knowledge of bylaws, legislation, protocol, policies and procedures relevant to the conduct of Council and various committee activities
  • Knowledge of procedural fairness, natural justice and decision writing, as it relates to quasi-judicial boards
  • Knowledge of mandate and operations of various committees and quasi-judicial boards
  • Uses judgement to determine application of appropriate procedure, legislation or protocol in a wide range of different contexts and mandates
  • Identifies areas of connection across and amongst various committees, City departments, community stakeholder groups and the public to ensure alignment
  • Knowledge of municipal government structure, City organizational structure and functions of senior management and City operations
  • Knowledge and understanding of relationships between and across business departments, bargaining units and related activities, including community stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the committee appointment process
  • Knowledge of petition, referendum and municipal election processes

Education & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a grade 12 and a post secondary office education certificate and/or courses in business administration along with four (4) years experience in a municipal environment where a considerable amount of the function is working with senior management, elected officials and the general public.

Senior Elections Communications Advisor Full-time Job

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Records, Elections and Information Management and coordinating with the Office of the Chief Communications Officer, the Senior Elections Communications Advisor leads the work needed to ensure that voters, candidates, third party advertisers, Election workers, media and other stakeholders have trust and confidence in the election process. They are a member of the Election project leadership team and participate in election planning and decision-making, providing perspectives and advice on public perception, public trust and reputation.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement a strategic communications plan that adheres to all legislative requirements and broadly communicates information on opportunities to Run, Work, Vote in the 2025 Edmonton Election
  • Lead the development and delivery of aspiring Candidate Virtual Engagement Sessions, voter outreach strategies, and manage urgent arising communications and public perception issues
  • Ensure communications plans are inclusive, accessible and that they reach a diverse audience
  • Play a key role in the Election Leadership Team by providing strategic communications advice to all aspects of the Election project
  • Support the Director and Returning Officer by drafting communications and briefings for Senior Leadership as required
  • Manage and coordinate media availabilities, including developing collateral such as backgrounders and media releases, and preparing spokespersons
  • Work with Media Relations to obtain and track media coverage
  • Ensure integration with 311 and work with them to determine internal capacity and ensure they are equipped with the necessary information to manage all public inquiries during Advance Vote and on Election Day
  • Plan for and implement systems for rapid response on Election Day, including media relations, web ops, etc.
  • Plan for any post Election Day media availabilities and communications strategies for reporting official results and any recount requests
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • University graduation in a communications, public relations or related field, supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience in a designated public relations, public affairs or public information position, as well as one (1) year of experience in a related supervisory capacity

OR 

  • Diploma in a communications, public relations or related field, supplemented by a minimum of six (6) years progressively responsible experience in a designated public relations, public affairs or public information position, as well as one (1) year of experience in a related supervisory capacity
  • Accreditation in the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) would be an asset
  • Media relations and event management experience is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated ability in communications, graphic design coordination, media relations, web content management, social media management, advertising/promotion and print production
  • Knowledge of the requirements of mass communication media and knowledge of marketing, audio-visual and web-based technologies
  • Superior issues identification, communication planning and issues management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the work of staff
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
  • Knowledge of elections and electoral processes is an asset
