The Edmonton Police Service is seeking one (1) self-motivated, organized professional to provide payroll and benefit services to its membership of approximately 3,500 employees. The ability to provide excellent customer service is essential! The successful applicant must be able to work within tight deadlines that add to a high stress area. Responsibilities of this position involve providing assistance in all facets of the Section's functions and include the following:
- Providing end to end processing of all payroll transactions, including inputting, auditing, correcting errors and resolving discrepancies.
- Providing payroll and benefit information and guidance to employees and supervisors in accordance with applicable collective agreements, policies, and legislation.
- Researching, analyzing, and providing solutions to problems.
- Preparing and processing required documentation for job data changes.

Qualifications
- Completion of the twelfth (12) school grade, plus certification from the National Payroll Institute as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) (applicants working towards a PCP designation may be considered), or a certificate in benefits administration or human resources administration from a recognized post-secondary institute or professional association.
- Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in payroll and/or benefits administration.
- Experience using PeopleSoft, CARM or other similar automated Payroll Information System to deliver payroll, benefits, and/or human resource services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good interpersonal, teamwork and organizational skills.
- Able to provide excellent customer service and remain calm under pressure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- OPERATION SUPPORT
- Provide day-to-day coordination, guidance and support for defined programs, processes, policies, practices and project initiatives to meet operational needs and corporate service standards.
- Ensure appropriate financial and statistical records are maintained including the review of daily revenue packages, oversite of transactional documentation, management of accounts receivable, monitoring of facility usage, and inventory control management.
- Maintain tight controls on cash handling standards and any associated procedures to ensure that they are implemented and maintained consistently.
- Provide procedural guidance to ensure operational compliance with audit recommendations, administrative procedures, policies, and practices.

- CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Support facility customer service teams with internal and external customer service by processing and responding to a variety of inquiries and service requests; while adhering to corporate practices and standards.
- Ensure high customer service standards are maintained for all programs and services. Review and evaluate admission processes and standards to ensure an optimal customer experience.
- Act as a key source of contact and provide guidance, advice and support to ensure coordination meets operational needs and corporate service standards. Escalate complex issues to appropriate level for resolution.

- COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING

About the Opportunity
- Provides support for the admission of Residents and Clients
- Performs a wide variety of typing assignments, and operates the computer to enter data, edit, revise, and print minutes, letters, memos, tables, and other material
- Maintains and updates Client files, and documents, including Client lists
- Coordinates Client transportation
- Performs basic accounting functions, which may involve Client banking reconciliation and payments on Client accounts
- Supports the facility inventory supply program, which may involve ordering, receiving and distributing supplies
- Monitors fire and security alarm panels, and follows safety and security duties as per facility policy
- Provides support and guidance to employees in assistance with payroll, scheduling and benefits information
- Prepares photocopies and facsimiles and sorts and distributes incoming/outgoing mail.
About You
- As the successful candidate, you will be a graduate of an approved Office Administration or Professional Secretarial diploma, you will have excellent computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office Suite and previous Long-Term Care experience is an asset.

Goals
On a daily basis, ensures that the concrete dosage (manufacturing) is in accordance with the specifications provided by the laboratory, while meeting customer needs. In addition, dispatches and schedules concrete mixer trucks to ensure timely delivery of concrete, good customer service, according to orders placed by customers and at a minimum cost.
Responsibilities
Security :
- Daily check of site cleanliness (site safety).
- Ensure that all employees, yard workers, drivers, mechanics, subcontractors and other people on site work safely and that all wear their PPE and, in addition, carry out regular inspections to monitor the progress of tasks and work.
Production :
- Daily mechanical plant checks (visual inspection, detect unusual noise, lubrication, vibration, belt check etc.)
- Checking and measuring the humidity level of raw materials (stone, sand) and, by the same token, visually observing the conditions before each shift.
- Dosing of concrete and distribution of concrete mixers on the different sites according to the required specifications and ensuring the conformity of the concrete delivered.
- Order raw materials according to planned orders or anticipated volumes.
- Responsible for planning drivers (concrete mixers), yard men, regarding deliveries and production for the next day.
Inventory :
- Enter raw material receipts into the “Command Batch” system and track them according to the “Command Batch” system report.
- Produce end-of-day reports (inventories, reception and consumption of raw materials, m3 produced, chatters, etc.) and transfer the information to your shift replacement if necessary.
- Carry out physical inventories (raw materials and others) with your manager at the end of the month.
Administration:
- Taking orders by phone and promoting our Turbo & VAP products during CODs and to customers.
- Perform daily ticket checks and forward to invoicing. (Includes ticket checks "Waiting times - Superplasticizer etc.)
- Control entry and exit times as well as lunch and break times according to the collective agreement of all hourly employees and/or make the daily report of deliveries made by the "Broker" trucks by checking the areas for each of the delivery tickets.
- Carry out daily monitoring of cash sales as well as the use of concrete mixers (Lafarge, Broker, internal and external rentals) and follow up with the manager.
Optimization and communication:
- Communicates regularly and daily with the distributors of other plants in order to optimize the use of the concrete mixer truck fleet and personnel for the same day as well as the following day.
- Maintain constant communication with the manager and keep him informed during a plant breakdown, production/delivery problems as well as any health/safety incident.
Relations with other positions:
- Works closely with the operations team
- Collaborates with logistics and quality teams
