The Maintenance Supervisor supervises the execution of the maintenance work plan for the assigned shift and assist in the work set-up for the oncoming shifts as required. The incumbent will work with the Maintenance Planners to ensure all planned work has the resources and material available to complete the plan. They will also provide operational and equipment information to the Supervisor on the oncoming shifts to ensure a smooth transition between shifts. The Supervisor works closely with the Maintenance Manager when required to review major issues and activities, discuss team and team member performance and other discussion items.

• Communicate with Team to resolve on-going technical problems, provide expertise and support on technical issues.

• Provide updates for all shifts to outstanding equipment repairs/issues and improvement initiatives with input from the department Manager to ensure department cohesiveness.

• Manage Building and Equipment repair issues and downtime.

• Administer Company Policies and Procedures.

• Identify training requirements for team members.

• Support the employee annual review process and coaching sessions.

• Coordinate/Supervise all Contractors and Service Technicians. 

• Communicate daily Company information CIAs, safety memos, company update at shift huddles

• Perform planning tasks when required, such as creating drafts of PMs for implementation into Maximo and establish PM frequency.

• Participate in department and JHSC, if directed, meetings to correct safety issues building wide.

What you bring

• Troubleshooting adjusting and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches and timers.
• Inspecting troubleshooting repairing and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as puck sorters, flow splitters, diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses and coils.
• Inspecting troubleshooting repairing and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders and pumps.

• Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid 5760 Industrial Construction and Maintenance Mechanic or 5781 Automated Systems Electromechanic Certification of Qualification is highly preferred but extensive relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience performing maintenance on industrial equipment.
• Ability to receive and give instruction over radio in industrial environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Experience of performing maintenance on conveyor belts.

As a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician  specializing in Transit Fleet Maintenance, you will play an important role in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a variety of Transit vehicles. You'll diagnose issues, test components, and execute installations and rebuilds as needed to ensure vehicles meet operational standards. The role involves working across different environments, from light repair service shops to heavy overhaul facilities, where you'll also maintain and service equipment essential to the maintenance process. Your expertise will contribute directly to the reliability and efficiency of public transit systems, supporting safe and effective transportation for communities.

Apprentices will receive specialized training and support from our Technical Trainers and Journeyperson mentors to achieve the expertise required to keep our fleet moving now and into the future with evolving fuel technologies.

What will you do?

• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, minor and heavy duty repairs and overhaul work on all components, including engines, electrical controls and systems, power train, brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions, fueling and other systems
• Contribute to ongoing workflow processes by entering detailed data and information into a computerized fleet management system to record job times, work performed and maintenance history
• Follow approved methods and techniques as set out in the manufacturer's manual and shop and engineering instructions
• Work within the standard job times for routine work
• Perform basic and complex diagnosis of systems through the use of diagnostic scanning tools, computer software and traditional methods
• Lubricate vehicles and/or ensure lubrication is carried out as required
• Perform Commercial Vehicle Inspections (CVIP) and maintain credentials
• Complete major repair authorization forms, provincial certifications, Preventative Maintenance inspection sheets, and other required documentation

General Repair Technician III is responsible for operating the facility including, but not limited to mechanical other supporting systems; performing structured inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on facility mechanical equipment and other systems. The Technician III is also responsible for performing work in accordance with established processes and practices and for complying with internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshooting

•    Provides observations about residential houses, mechanical and electrical equipment, and systems conditions and deficiencies and provides suggestions for enhancement and repair.

Maintenance
