About this opportunity:

 

We are currently seeking a Lead Operator in our Nordegg/Brazeau Field Operations who will report to the area Operations Coordinator. The primary focus of this position is to oversee the day-to-day operation, inspection, and maintenance, while being aware of production and costs, for producing oil and gas wells and related field equipment. The position will also be focused on reporting to and potentially covering for the area Coordinator as required. Leadership skills are an asset as this will require indirect supervision and collaboration with multiple work groups.

 

Work Environment:

  • This role is located in Drayton Valley and required the successful candidate to live in the area

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 10 hrs/day; 4 days on 3 days off; 40 hrs/week; Monday start; 1 week cycle (Canada)

 

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for effective leadership over all area operations of oil and gas wells and field facilities

  • Uphold a strong dedication to safety and personal responsibility for the safety of others

  • Conduct regular field inspections, such as pipeline pigging, site visits, hazard hunts, to apply as mentorship opportunities

  • Monitor and evaluate process conditions and SCADA to achieve optimum efficiency and meet production targets, and deliver necessary updates to area Coordinator for significant fluctuations

  • Keep a keen focus on area costs and effective spending, reporting any significant fluctuations to the area Coordinator

  • Assist with troubleshooting operational issues and recognize abnormal operating conditions of equipment, and assist with solutions

  • Issue/audit safe work permits and participate in planning of routine and non-routine tasks, guiding the Planning for Safety model

  • Ensure area compliance with established procedures, standards, and policies

  • Assist with the training and ongoing progression of area operations staff

  • Assist with the planning and scheduling of area operations holidays

  • Assist with area operations personnel planning as required, as well as assisting operators as needed

  • Efficiently working together with all essential collaborators, such as M&R, Construction, HSE, Engineering, and third-party companies

  • Strong independent decision-making skills based on knowledge and experience

 

Who you are:

 

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum of 10+ years of operating or related industry experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • Strong dedication to health, safety, and environment

  • Self-motivated with strong leadership skills

  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods of time in changing weather conditions

  • Strong mechanical/troubleshooting background

  • Related industry training or technical trade

  • Valid industry safety tickets (First Aid, CPR, TDG, WHMIS, and H2S certifications)

  • The following items would be considered an asset: 4th Class Power Engineer, Fired Process Heater Operator Ticket, Gas Process Operations (GPO) or Production Field Operations (PFO) levels A, B, C, & D

Position Summary

 

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for facility and property management? The City of Regina is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead the operations of our major sport and recreation facilities, along with other City-owned buildings. In this role, you will provide leadership to supervisory staff, manage facility issues, and assist in overseeing the City’s real estate portfolio.

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Operations, this position plays a key role in ensuring our facilities are safe, functional, and serve the community effectively.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the operation and development of a diverse portfolio of sport and recreation facilities.
  • Provide strategic direction and project oversight for facility management initiatives.
  • Assist in coordinating property management activities, including tenant relations, contractor management, and space evaluation.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and business processes related to facility operations.
  • Assist in preparing and managing capital budgets.
  • Assist in overseeing facility security programs to safeguard buildings, assets, and personnel.
  • Oversee client service contracts for all City facilities.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response and life safety plans for civic buildings.
  • Inspect City facilities and manage maintenance, repairs, and renovation documentation.
  • Support staff supervision through coaching, performance management, and development.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating annual maintenance shutdowns and capital upgrades.

Key Qualifications

 

  • Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are obtained through successful completion of a university degree in Engineering or Business Administration with coursework in recreation and facility management coupled with 3–5 years of experience in facility/property design, operations, and maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Designation as a Facility Management Administrator (FMA) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of sport and recreation facility standards and operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of property/facility/project management best practices.
  • Familiarity with municipal and provincial regulations, codes, and public tendering processes.

JOB SUMMARY

The Design and Construction Facilities Branch is responsible for  architecture, engineering and landscape architecture services, design and construction management, and other related technical and professional services. 

You are responsible for managing total project delivery for assigned multi-year, multi-discipline construction and renovation projects of a moderate complexity, for municipal building and/or landscape architecture projects.

You are also responsible for:

  • managing project delivery for assigned capital works or renewal projects for the construction of new facilities, additions, renovations and/or significant new building functionality and use (including community centres, arenas, swimming pools, recreation complexes, fire stations, libraries, archives, municipal ward yards, transit maintenance facilities, paramedic stations,administration buildings, heritage and cultural facilities), etc., and/or 
  • managing project delivery for assigned capital works or renewal projects, including new parks and open space developments, as well as major park renovations and other related municipal facilities.

 

You shall have a good working understanding of all construction industries,
including engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural practices.

*The Project Manager, Building & Parks will work in one of the following architectural disciplines and the educational requirements will be adjusted accordingly: Building OR Landscape.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year Bachelor of Engineering or Architecture or Landscape Architecture

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the discipline of design and construction of buildings and/or landscape architecture projects, 2 of which must be in construction project management.

Experience with City’s Project Management System is an asset

Project Manager, Environmental Program Full-time Job

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintenance of the city’s roads and parks, traffic operations, and solid waste collection, processing and disposal.

You are responsible for strategic planning, communications planning, project management, program evaluation and performance measurement of high-level departmental projects and objectives.  You effectively use project management methodology to lead and manage projects and project teams to achieve the desired results of assigned initiatives on time and on budget.

You can lead and influence change in the department, work collaboratively, and build rapport with others. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year degree in Environmental Science (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Physical Geography), Public or Business Administration, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field 

Minimum of 5 years of related experience in supporting operational, strategic and business planning, and in managing/evaluating projects relating to program development and related initiatives, within a public works or utility environment.  Experience should include conducting research/analysis, interacting with the general public and environmental regulators, and managing external consultants. 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Structure and processes of municipal government, including inter-governmental stakeholders
  • General knowledge relating to wastewater collection and treatment and bio-solids management; water production distribution and conservation; solid waste, surface and ground water protection and management, energy and air quality management
  • Applicable legislation, policies, regulations, guidelines and operational procedures relevant to the operational area, such as the Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, the Environmental Assessment Act, Green Energy Act, Nutrient Management Act
  • Communication and consultation approaches 
  • Facilitation and negotiation processes
  • Quality Management systems
  • Research methodologies, data collection and analyses 
  • Principles of project management
  • Contract management tools and procedures
  • Program and project evaluation and performance measurement processes
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

  • Able to use primary and secondary research techniques to perform data analysis, to evaluate existing and proposed processes, materials, equipment and operational practices, make judgments on the interpretation of issues/data, and formulate recommendations
  • Able to manage contracted work, and foster good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders in order to achieve Branch objectives 
  • Possess computer literacy in applications such as MS Office Suite, Powerpoint, database management, and Project tracking
  • Possess excellent consultative, collaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage confrontational situations, persuade/influence others and to bring conflicting points of view to consensus 
  • Possess strong documentation, report writing and presentation skills

As the Operations Supervisor, you are responsible for supervising the operation of delivery of dedicated freight to meet contractual requirements in a 24-hour, Monday through Saturday service including daily dock operations, reverse dock operations, and on-site customer dock operations, drivers, fleet & fleet maintenance, and dispatch. 

How You’ll Help: 

  • Provide daily guidance and motivation to Dock Workers (employees and agency workers) and Drivers (company and broker drivers) to ensure achievement of operational objectives for the terminal.  
  • Escalates issues of individual poor performance, inappropriate behaviour, absenteeism, etc. to the Terminal Manager.  
  • Communicate monthly performance stats to the team to help measure, develop and improve operational performance. 
  • Maintain policies and procedures and ensure compliance with federal and provincial transportation, safety, and employment legislation. 
  • Ensure all incidents (personal injuries, transportation collisions, spills, near misses, etc.) are promptly reported, documented, an investigation is initiated and corrective/preventative measures are implemented. 
  • Hold effective, weekly tailgate meetings and ensure safety issues are addressed. 
  • Works with the team and others, internal and external to the terminal, to resolve roadblocks to achievement of daily operational objectives. 
  • Ensure the schedule for the terminal is followed.   
  • Work with the Terminal Manager to track monthly performance stats for the dock. 
  • Supervises a group of Drivers and Dock Workers, both employee and contractor/agency, directly and indirectly through Lead Hands. 
  • Other duties as required 

Your Skills and Experience: 

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in operations, logistics, or business 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered 
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the transportation industry 
  • Previous leadership experience and/or experience in the transportation industry are strong assets 
  • Strong leadership skills specifically the ability to motivate and drive engagement to achieve objectives, facilitate conflict resolution, and to provide training 
  • Advanced communication skills, particularly verbal 
  • Computer skills, including the use of MS Word, Excel & Outlook, and web based programs as well as RF scanners.  Experience using Truckmate, a strong asset 
  • Strong interpersonal skills including customer focus 
  • Results driven 
  • Appropriate sense of urgency 
  • Strong sense of safety; training and experience in similar safety sense environments a strong asset 
  • Knowledge of industry-related equipment, including forklifts, lift jacks, trailers, etc. a strong asset 
  • English, other languages an asset.
