JOB SUMMARY

 

The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team provides safe, reliable, efficient, timely and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services to support federally regulated transit services within the City of Ottawa. 

Reporting to a Garage Supervisor, you are responsible for performing a wide range of duties expected of a Truck and Coach Technician, including, but not limited to, the following: conducting diagnostic inspection of vehicles*, performing general mechanical overhaul and repair work , and performing daily maintenance repairs.  You perform all unit changes or repairs to Fleet vehicles (including but not limited to transmission, brakes, suspensions, electrical components, injectors, radiators, steering, differentials and air systems) and make miscellaneous adjustments to doors, destination signs and other vehicle systems.

vehicles*-refers to buses within the Transit Fleet Maintenance Division and any other Fleet vehicle within the Municipal Maintenance Division (cars/trucks, forklifts, etc.).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship program of 6720 hours

Completion of advanced technical courses is an asset

Minimum of 1 year of experience following attainment of certification

The mandate of Long Term Care Services is to provide resident care based on the needs of individuals, as determined by medical, nursing, functional and psychosocial assessments, and on each resident’s expressed needs. The care provided in each Home includes specialized, restorative, supportive and palliative care for persons with dementia, disabilities and health problems who cannot live independently in their homes, and whose needs cannot be met in the community.

You are responsible for primary health care including clinical, counselling and referral services within the scope of practice and standards of care as outlined in the Regulated Health Professionals Act (RHPA) and the College of Nurses of Ontario for residents of the Long Term Care Homes.  As an autonomous health professional with advanced education, you will provide comprehensive health assessments, diagnose health/ illness conditions, and treat and manage acute and chronic illness within a holistic model of care.   Your Nurse Practitioner (NP) competencies will reflect advanced nursing practice by building and expanding upon the competencies of a registered nurse.  You will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and ensure collaboration with the resident, family or caregiver and the health team in the development, implementation and evaluation of a resident’s plan of care.

Toronto Water is the City of Toronto division responsible for all aspects of drinking water treatment and supply, wastewater collection and treatment, and stormwater management. Water Infrastructure Management (WIM) is responsible for the long-term management of Toronto's water, wastewater, and stormwater management assets to optimize infrastructure investment, level of service, and performance. WIM provides engineering analysis, asset management, infrastructure planning and policy development and coordination across Toronto Water to serve 3.6 million residents in Toronto and surrounding regions daily, manage over $83 billion in assets, and plan a 10-year capital budget of approximately $16.2 billion.

 

The successful candidate for this position will be a member of the Development & Growth Transformation Project Office (Project Office) in WIM. The Project Office leads, coordinates, monitors and tracks initiatives aimed at enhancing Toronto Water's involvement with development approvals. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
