At Day & Ross, our dock team is an important part of our business. As a Dock Worker, you’ll help us handle inbound and outbound customer freight and protect it from damage. You'll also help us keep a safe and clean work environment on the dock.

How You’ll Help: 

• Handle big and bulky freight on the dock, both on and off a forklift.
• Follow TDG, WHMIS, and company policies, as well as any customer requirements.
• Pay attention to the details. Receive and ship freight accurately and efficiently.
• Other duties as required.

Your Skills & Experience: 

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous transportation or dock experience is preferred
• Willingness and ability to lift up to 75 lbs. 
• Ability to work efficiently with little to no supervision

Requirements:

Equipment and machinery experience: Farm truck, Tractor, and Forklift
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots and Gloves
Credentials: Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Pesticide Applicator’s Licence, and Forklift Operator Certification
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be experienced in other grain farming and have expertise in potato and vegetable farming
• The candidates should be capable of handling repetitive tasks and have a keen attention to detail
• The candidates should be comfortable with walking as part of their duties and able to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should be equipped with efficient interpersonal skills and demonstrate flexibility in their approach to tasks
• The candidates should be a team player and exhibit reliability in their work, while being quick learners

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
• Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to grade crops, plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops, and cut seeds
• The candidates should be able to fertilize and spray crops, harvest crops, and operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
• The candidates should be able to clean the work area
