Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

 

  • Aid in the pursuit of projects through the bid process. This may include aiding the writing of proposals, information gathering or other estimating tasks as assigned.

  • Direct liaison with customers, consultants and owners. Ensure that client satisfaction has been achieved.

  • Complete project reviews and provide management a close out review upon season or project completion.

Qualifications

 

Educational Background:

 

  • A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering with a C.E.T designation is preferred.  A combination of educational background along with skills/field experience will be considered.  

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum 2-5 years project coordination and field supervisory experience, estimating experience preferred.
  • Experience managing projects valued $ 500,000 and above.
  • General understanding of construction accounting.
  • Experience managing a project team including jr. coordinators and project support staff.
  • Computer literate.
  • Understanding of Microsoft excel, Microsoft project, Bluebeam and Bid2Win estimating software.

What will you do?

As an Equipment Operator III during Summer months, you will:

  • Operate a sweeper engaged in the sweeping of roadways and bike lanes
  • May operate Loader, Grader, and other various types of Operator III equipment as required
  • Carry out minor maintenance requirements
  • Perform daily inspection of equipment and report deficiencies
  • Safely operate the assigned equipment following the occupational hazards applicable to the work
  • Promote a reporting culture for all incidents and near misses by completing IDC’s reporting when the incident occurs and remedying the issue as soon as possible
  • Complete daily equipment check sheets, Field Level Risk Assessments - (FLRA), log books and address any issues found, report to RMS or Supervisor
  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs) for each location and task
  • Communicate safety and training opportunities to all employees
  • During periods when equipment operator work is not required, perform other duties which may include but are not limited to truck driving, litter control, etc.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health and Safety Program and Enviso Environmental Program - ISO 14001
  • Perform other related duties as required

As a Truck Driver III during the Winter months, you will:

  • Operate a tandem or single-axle sand/plow while engaged in snow and ice control
  • Load and unload materials
  • Perform routine maintenance duties, such as cleaning the truck box and worksite, and performing routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Be aware of obstacles adjacent to the road to avoid damage to Public Property when operating the plow, including snow off the wing
  • Inform the lead hand of any on-the-road issues with equipment or observed accident or property damage
  • Complete simple paperwork and reports such as but not limited to: defect slips, time cards, manifest logs, safety and damage reports, spills
  • General labour including brushing, manual sidewalk cleaning, sanding, snow shoveling, pothole repairs, manually spread sand on icy areas, and other snow and ice-related duties
  • Ensure all work is to be performed in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health & Safety Program and Enviso - Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Must have 2 years of experience operating a Street Sweeper
  • Must be COE Trained and fully passed on a Street Sweeper unit
  • Must have 1 year of experience operating tandem or single axle sander/plow truck engaged in snow and ice control
  • Must be COE trained and fully passed on a Tandem Plow/Sander unit

  • City Grader and Loader training and passed considered to be an asset

Administrative Support III casual opportunities exists within Alberta Health Services, Fort McMurray area with the Addiction and Mental Health Services. Reporting to the AMH Manager, the incumbent performs a variety of duties: administrative and receptionist responsibilities for the various programs. It is important that the person be multi-task oriented. This position also provides program information to clients, families and other community agencies. This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate electronic client records relating to the service, time keeping etc. The incumbent must also have a good working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and be able to work under pressure. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic or 3rd-4th year apprentice to join our team. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of our heavy equipment and machinery. Your expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment fleet.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and other construction machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address potential problems before they escalate.
  • Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other components of heavy equipment.
  • Replace faulty or worn-out parts and components using appropriate tools and techniques.
