As an Equipment Operator III during Summer months, you will:

  • Operate a sweeper engaged in the sweeping of roadways and bike lanes
  • May operate Loader, Grader, and other various types of Operator III equipment as required
  • Carry out minor maintenance requirement
  • Perform daily inspection of equipment and report deficiencies
  • Safely operate the assigned equipment following the occupational hazards applicable to the work
  • Promote a reporting culture for all incidents and near misses by completing IDC’s and reporting when the incident occurs and remeding the issue as soon as possible
  • Complete daily equipment check sheets, Field Level Risk Assessments - (FLRA), log books and address any issues found, report to RMS or Supervisor
  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs) for each location and task
  • Communicate safety and training opportunities to all employees
  • During periods when equipment operator work is not required, perform other duties which may include but are not limited to truck driving, litter control, etc.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health and Safety Program and Enviso Environmental Program - ISO 14001
  • Perform other related duties as required

As a Truck Driver III during Winter months, you will:

  • Operate a tandem or single axle sand/plow while engaged in snow and ice control
  • Load and unload materials
  • Perform routine maintenance duties, such as cleaning the truck box and worksite, and performing routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Be aware of obstacles adjacent to the road to avoid damage to Public Property when operating plow, including snow off the wing
  • Inform the lead hand of any on-the-road issues with equipment or observed accident or property damage
  • Complete simple paperwork and reports such as but not limited to: defect slips, time cards, manifest logs, safety and damage reports, spills
  • General labour including brushing, manual sidewalk cleaning, sanding, snow shoveling, pothole repairs, manually spread sand on icy areas and other snow and ice-related duties
  • Ensure all work is to be performed in accordance with the Branch's Occupational Health & Safety Program and Enviso - Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • 2 years experience operating vehicles and equipment assigned to the position or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have 2 years experience operating sweeper
  • Must have 1 year experience operating tandem or single axle sander/plow truck engaged in snow and ice control
  • Must be COE trained and passed on both Sweeper and Plow/Sander
  • City Grader and Loader training and passed considered to be an asset
  • Valid Alberta Class 3 driver’s licence with Air Brakes Endorsement (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
  • Knowledge of the PARS Operating Procedures and SOP’s
  • Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment and vehicles skillfully, efficiently, and safely
  • Ability to maintain and operate equipment in a manner that preserves the lifetime of the equipment

Qualifications

  • Completion of a certificate program from an approved business school/college would be considered an asset.

  • A minimum two (2) years progressively responsible experience with CPIC system and CPIC compliance protocols is an asset.

The  Heavy Duty Field Mechanic will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components and maintain detailed records.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Services on equipment:

 

  • Work with Equipment manager to schedule required servicing to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
  • Inspecting and diagnosing problems with heavy Equipment
  • Complete necessary repairs and required maintenance as per the scheduled servicing
  • Conducting preventative maintenance to ensure the safe operation of Equipment
  • Accurate and timely completion of work orders, including time and parts per repair
  • Collaborating with other mechanics and technicians to solve complex problems
  • Have experience with excavators/dozers/Haul trucks/loaders on operations and maintenance
  • Have computer skills to utilize  equipment management programs and for  completing  equipment repair and maintenance logs

  • Adhere to Health and Safety Management System, be familiar with and follow all applicable safe work practices, safe operating procedures, and safety specifications detailed in equipment manuals and manufacturer’s specifications
  • Ensure that those persons assisting in the shop are also following applicable safe work standards
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or incidents and near misses to the Logistics Coordinator in a timely manner

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working on Heavy Equipment
  • Familiar with cat/John Deere/Komatsu/Volvo is considered an asset
  • Possession of valid Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Small crane training

Physical Requirements:

 

This position requires standing for extended periods, in addition to walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling with occasional sitting. Must be capable of heavy lifting and moving parts up to 75 lbs on a consistent basis.

 

Working Environment:

 

This job will require some overtime hours. Some work is completed in our facilities in Leduc and Edmonton however travel will be required to complete roadside repairs in all weather conditions. The noise level in the environment can be excessive and shop staff can be exposed to high temperatures, fumes, and toxic chemicals. Travel to NWT/Yukon will be required from time to time

Job Details

The Driver will transport bulk material to and from various locations in diverse settings, including manufacturing plants, landfills and remote areas. The Driver is also responsible for inspecting the equipment (pre-trip, post-trip) to ensure mechanical integrity. Journey management and meeting all scheduling requirements are critical.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate the truck in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, KBL policies and procedures and in accordance with all government regulations
  • Be courteous and professional when dealing with clientele and co-workers
  • Ensure the truck is maintained and inspected for deficiencies as per manufacturer’s requirements
  • Record any deficiencies in the NSC Log Book and report them to maintenance personnel
  • Completion of accurate bills of ladings for each load
  • Maintain accurate and up to date NSC Log Book and be familiar with recent log book entries
  • Ensure load weights do not exceed Registered Gross Vehicle Weight
  • Ensure proper placement of loads on trailers
  • Ensure that all loads are properly secured for transport in accordance with NSC policies and procedures, and government regulations
  • Be proficient in trailer coupling and uncoupling, according to manufacturers specifications and applicable laws and regulations

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 1 Licence;
  • 3-5 years proven work experience as a Class 1 truck driver hauling bulk solids
  • No more than 3 demerit points and 1 driving violation within the past 12 months
  • Experience with roll off and walking floor trailers is consider an asset
  • Experience hauling gravel or contaminated soil is considered an asset
  • Proficient with electronic equipment and software (GPS, ELD, Work based apps)
  • Ability to drive long hours and be away from home for extended periods;
  • Extensive knowledge of National Safety Code rules and regulations;
  • Adaptability and foresight to manage unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.);
  • Must be willing to submit to background and employment reference checks;
  • Must be willing to undergo drug and alcohol testing (site access requirement, post incident and reasonable suspicion).
  • Must be able to follow both oral and written instructions

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent or higher
  • Currently licenced under the Security Services and Investigators Act by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, and be in good standing Please attach your security license to your application
  • Some experience working as a security guard at a live entertainment venue or related experience is preferred
  • ProServe Liquor Staff training and ProTect Security Staff Training are required and must be obtained prior to starting your role
  • Additional security certifications are an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, including the ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and information
  • Ability to make decisions and resolve conflict in difficult situations in an influential, professional, respectful and inclusive way
