Main Purpose and Function
Performs routine to skilled maintenance and cleaning of ice rinks, dressing rooms, refrigeration plants and surrounding facilities, assists in janitorial and preventative maintenance duties, performs related duties required or assigned. Is actively responsible for a variety of functions and activities related to the preventive maintenance and repairs of ice rink surface using the ice resurfacing machine and performs routine janitorial job functions. Work is performed as assigned or on a rotating shift basis.
Specific Duties/Responsibilities
- Operates services and maintains ice rink surfaces and refrigeration plants and related equipment
- Scrapes, floods and paints lines, maintains ice surface in proper and safe conditions using the ice resurface, edging equipment and hosing methods
- Changes and adjusts blade on ice resurfacing machine, inspection checks and records operating hours, machine and battery conditions
- Cleans, inspects and makes minor repairs on the rink board system
- Inspects and assists in rink glass replacement process
- Maintains rink dressing room cleanliness, inspects condition and records/reports to supervisor
- Keeps ice rink and facility areas, walkways and equipment clean, serviced and safe
- Maintains daily records pertaining to the ice rink refrigeration operation and overall building
- Performs and assists the Maintenance Technician in completing general maintenance and shut down and/or start up by following safety operating procedure on the refrigeration plant system
- Connects, assists access for trades and contractors in completing building maintenance and service
- Reviews and monitors refrigeration plant maintenance activities to ensure compliance with BCSA – BC Safety Authority and Regulations
- Assists in reporting and preventing facility vandalism
- Performs basic preventive maintenance and lubrication on pumps, motors and related equipment
- Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety at work site
- Maintains a cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work
- Performs routine janitorial job functions and responsibilities
- Cleans changing rooms and washrooms
- Ensures proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals
- Wears proper personal protective equipment at all times
- Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter, glass or other debris
- Removes snow from sidewalks, driveways and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers and snow shovels and spreading ice melt/salt in areas
- Monitors building security and safety be performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and opening doors for regular operating hours, checking to ensure that hazards are not created or prevented
- Plays an active role in reporting and investigating emergency situations
- Makes rounds of the building and grounds at regular intervals at night inspecting doors, windows, and locks to see that they are properly and securely fastened
- Observes appearances and conditions of premises and equipment, reports needed repairs, service, safety hazards or conditions requiring attention to the supervisor
- Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes and tags accordantly if ballast failure
- Coordinates the work of janitorial team by assigning, scheduling and assessing the competition of work and tasks
- Ensures quality control and best practices by inspecting work in progress and upon competition
- May assist in completing monthly workplace inspections as required
- May work independently with little or no supervision
- Completes other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Position Requirements
Required Training, Certifications and Experience:
- Completion of Grade 10; preferable supplemented by technical training related to the work plus some related experience; completion of a recognized program in building service work OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ice Facility Operator or Refrigeration Operator (5th class refrigeration) Certificate from the BC Safety Authority.
- Valid driver’s license required – Drivers abstract
Preferences:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience related to the job description
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of operations, maintenance and requirements of an ice rink and refrigeration plant and overall recreation facility
- Knowledge of basic preventative maintenance of pumps, motors, safety equipment and other items related to an ice rink and refrigeration plant

Main Purpose and Function
The Equipment Operator III is responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment involved with stump grinding. Stump grinding operations is an important and necessary role that supports the continuation of the Urban Forest. Replacement of trees can only be facilitated by preparing sites through stump grinding. Position will report directly to the Superintendent of Urban Forestry and may involve the supervision of two or more subordinates.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates and services a large stump grinder. Two units are towable, and the other one is a mounted tow behind.
- Stump grinding will occur in parks and on streets, citywide.
- Operator is required to interpret and understand the Call-One packages of information. All work with machinery impacting underground requires a Call-One and an information package identifying underground utilities.
- Operator will be responsible for completion of VanTree work orders.
- Position is a physical job, and one that requires shoveling debris from truck, or trailer and/or shovel soil and debris from ground into a truck or trailer.
- Operator will be required to remove wood debris from sites as part of completion of the stump removal.
- Operator will be required to operate a chainsaw or reciprocating saw to sever large roots or cut stumps below grade

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

Main Purpose and Function
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Project Manager I will assist in providing full life-cycle project management of complex, inter departmental civil infrastructure projects (streets, water, sewers, green infrastructure, electrical, structures, etc.) with multi-million-dollar budgets.
The Project Manager will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary civil consultants, interdepartmentally within Engineering Services, and with other CoV departments such as Law, Planning, Parks, Facilities, Real Estate, Supply Chain Management and Development Services to identify stakeholder and partner requirements and ensure successful planning and implementation of projects. The Project Manager will help shape and advance project and quality management standards across the Department and be responsible for their practical and consistent application in which the role operates.
The Project Manager I will work in a matrix environment supporting client business units leading cross functional project teams, which will include Engineers, Engineers-In-Training, Superintendents, Engineering Assistants, and other technical and support roles. They will also work closely with staff third party consultants and/or contractors, key business stakeholders and user representatives to ensure their requirements are well understood and addressed.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will support project management and coordination of several high profile, complex and high-risk civil infrastructure projects ranging between $1M to $50 M. These projects involve numerous internal and external stakeholders, expedited construction timelines, and challenging urban site conditions.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the Senior Project Manager in cross discipline design and construction projects.
- Plans out the projects in detail, clearly identifying project scope, budget and schedule as well as project risks, project organization and project management approach. Documents the plans in a Project Charter document.
- Engages with subject matter experts to prepare terms of reference for technical consulting services related to civil engineering design and construction; and complete the tendering and selection process, or work with internal operational forces to deliver the design packages.
- Coordinates and manages inter-departmental review processes for project design drawings and standards, escalating any identified conflicts as necessary to senior staff for resolution.
- Executes projects according to the approved Project Charters.
- Ensures all relevant City Departments are consulted in the process and progress of the project.
- Assists with management of multiple consultants and contractors.
- Assists with all relevant local, provincial and federal permit applications.
- Monitors, forecasts, and reports on project status (cash flows and scheduling).
- Procures project resources (e.g., design, construction and contract administration services).
- Project reporting, cost estimating, scheduling and measuring project performance.
- Applies and contributes to all Engineering Project and EGBC’s Organizational Quality Management principles and requirements, as defined by the Engineering Project Management Office.
- Develops and implements various project management plans.
- Assists the project team with presentations, public engagement and meetings with various members of the public, stakeholder community groups, and partners. Facilitates stakeholder inputs to arrive at optimum solutions.
- Facilitates meetings and regularly reporting on project status to Managers and project Sponsors.
- Implements adequate internal controls for reporting to Senior Management.
- Organizes and leads meetings with project team, stakeholders, and vendors as needed and manages actions arising from them.
- Identifies and proactively manages project issues and risks.
- Ensures that project performance meet expectations in terms of timelines and scope completion.
- Ensures proper project closeout at completion. Manages the sign-off process for project deliverables from stakeholders. Organizes and conducts a lessons-learned session. Documents and presents a project closeout analysis. Manages and coordinates project staff teams.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Architecture, Planning, Construction Management, or Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in project management with progressively complex, business transformation projects leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in delivering design and construction of civil engineering infrastructure an asset.
- Formal training in Project Management methodologies preferably consistent with those provided by PMI (Project Management Institute).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation an asset.
- Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related an asset.
- Experience in managing complex projects that include managing multiple consultants and contractors simultaneously.
- Experience in developing and reporting on projects and programs, and researching, for various projects and initiatives.

Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing a wide range of administrative services to assist Program Manager(s) and project team in day-to-day running of programs. The Administrative Assistant shall ensure that all project deliverables are prepared, formatted, internally reviewed, and delivered to the customer in an effective and timely manner with highest quality.
Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility
- Prepare and format reports and contract deliverables using in-house templates as well as customer provided templates;
- Coordinate and track project deliverables and outstanding actions to ensure timely delivery;
- Set-up internal document reviews in Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) and closely track for completion;
- Monitor workflow process to ensure the document is reviewed, approved in a timely fashion and escalate Work Items (WI) of concern to the PM;
- Deliver documentation to the customer (via email or courier), pdf and file correspondence in TFS or IPESA;
- Follow company policies and processes and maintain all aspects of electronic filing systems including logging, retention, and disposal;
- Work with both internal and external tools such as TFS, SFTP, SharePoint, IPESA to manage activities and workflow issues (monthly reports, deliverables, etc.);
- Manage all aspects of incoming and outgoing correspondence in the project mailbox and respond to project team members’ inquiries;
- Manage competing priorities while supporting several projects;
- Create SAP purchase requisitions as required;
- Work closely with cross functional teams such as Finance, Contracts & Legal, Procurement, and Quality on project requirements;
- Assist with on-boarding new team members to the project, processing PIN numbers in a timely manner;
- Assist in the preparation of letters, quotes, and proposals and provide formatting support on large bids as assigned;
- Support with any off-site event/meeting/training/team building by booking the venue, PR creation, facilitating payment and on-site administrative support;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Managers and Administration Manager;
- Provide backup to other Administrative staff as required and cross-train as required;
- Provide backup reception support when required during team member’s absence due to vacation, sick leave or other circumstances;
- Prepare for all aspects of in-house meetings, including coordination, record of discussion and action items tracking;
- Order catering, track details and assist with the setup/clean-up.
Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience, Education, Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, Language
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
- Attention to detail
- An interest in working in a fast-paced, demanding environment with a steep learning curve
- Ability to work independently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- All applicants must be able to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret security clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program and ITAR Program
