The Donor Centre team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will assist in the collection of blood and blood products ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and all required documentation is carried out. You will play an integral part in building and promoting a positive donor experience and encouraging donations.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your ability to communicate effectively with donors, you will conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build and promote a positive donor experience.   
  • Utilizing your superb people skills, you will provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on blood donation. 
  • Drawing on your knowledge and experience you will provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff, acting as team lead for collection events as needed.

Desired education and skills

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years 
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Location: #400 – 3115 12 STREET NE Calgary, AB T2E 7J2
Shifts: Day, Evening, Early Morning, Morning

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be flexible and organized

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to identify current and prospective staffing requirements, prepare and post notices and advertisements, and collect and screen applicants
  • The candidates should be able to advise job applicants on employment requirements and terms and conditions of employment, review candidate inventories, and contact potential applicants to arrange interviews
  • The candidates should be able to recruit graduates of colleges, universities, and other educational institutions, co-ordinate and participate in selection and examination boards to evaluate candidates, and notify applicants of results of the selection process and prepare job offers
  • The candidates should be able to advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures, organize and administer staff consultation and grievance procedures, and negotiate settlements of appeals and disputes, as well as co-ordinate the termination of the employment process
  • The candidates should be able to determine eligibility for entitlements, arrange staff training, and provide information or services such as employee assistance, counseling, and recognition programs
  • The candidates should be able to recruit and hire staff
