The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of Maple Leaf Food’s Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs.  This includes but is not limited to assisting in the development of safe work procedures, training, assisting in claims management, investigations, workplace inspections and training coordination.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

• Assist in the identification and reduction of Health and Safety risks and hazards.
• Assist in maintaining supply and inventory of health and safety equipment and supplies.
• Maintain HSSE metrics and documentation with the ability to present this information to applicable parties.
• Design and deliver training programs for workers, management and Safety Committee members to comply with legislative requirements.
• Ensure documentation is logged and filed for quick reference.
• Maintain the HSSE Training Matrix, make recommendations on what training to complete, and organize training with internal or external vendors for the applicable departments
• Assist the JHSC with scheduling meetings, ensuring workplace inspections are completed and take Minutes for distribution
• Support the H&S Department

UPS Package Drivers deliver and pick up packages from residential and/or commercial properties. This role involves driving, continual lifting, lowering, and carrying packages in a physical, fast-paced environment. Drivers practice safe transportation methods while traveling to and from destinations, ensuring the best customer service through efficiency and dedication.

Shift Start: 9:15 AM - 5:15 PM (Flexibility with Start and Finish time required)

Wage: $17.30/hr

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Deliver and pick up UPS packages efficiently and effectively.
• Learn and properly execute UPS safe and defensive driving methods.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks as required.
• Record, track, and maintain information about delivered packages.
• Comply with UPS appearance guidelines by wearing the company-provided vest and uniform.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. (32kg) unassisted. Typical package weight ranges from 25-35 lbs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in navigating and finding locations using maps, GPS devices, and map books
• Available to work Tuesday through Saturday/ and some Mondays
• Possession of a valid Ontario G driver’s license
• Clean Driver's Abstract confirming: A) No at-fault accidents within the last 3 years & no more than 2 violations for the previous 3 years period. B) No traffic violations within the last 12 months and 5 Demerit Points for the previous 3 years
• Strong customer service skills

Overview

This part-time seasonal position assists UPS Package Drivers with deliveries and pick-ups of UPS packages at UPS drop boxes and customer locations in and around Newmarket. Overview

The Financial Analyst position, under general supervision, is responsible for conducting and documenting moderate to complex financial and economic analysis projects. Additional responsibilities include evaluating the accounting and financial records of the company to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures.

Performance Expectations

• Perform monthly foreign translations and intercompany balancing checks.

Credentials

• Post-Secondary Education in Accounting, Business or related discipline.
• CPA designation.
• Minimum five years of previous experience.
• Strong knowledge and experience with Canadian GAAP, knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS considered an asset.
• Ability to research new accounting standards and present alternatives.
• Experience with financial statement note disclosures including financial instruments.

As part of Maple Leaf Food’s Operations team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs, policies, systems and reports for the Heritage Plant. This position will ensure legislative and Plant compliance with occupational health and safety by “on the floor” involvement with operations.  This position will include but not limited to; assisting in the development of safe work procedures, training, claims management and assessing/controlling risk to reduce/eliminate accidents/incidents which cause personal injury and/or property damage. The goal of this position will be to standardize safe work methods and recognize high impact behaviours to achieve a world class health and safety program.  The successful candidate will be involved in all Health & Safety activities related to the Heritage Plant.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

• Supports our Wastewater pretreatment facility and environmental management programs including the Environmental Emergency management (E2) Plan and associated drills and activities.
• Supporting chemical safety programs including Transport of Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, Hazardous Waste management and our Solid Waste and Food Waste diversion strategies.
• Supervises the Security team and provides support on proximity software and site access control, supporting HR with creation of new badges and maintaining the proximity software WINPAK.
• Review and monitor on-site Contractor OHS programs and compliance with applicable regulations.
• Assist and lead in the reduction of Health and Safety risks and hazards through continuous improvement projects
• Support Operations in all Safety related functions, including, but not limited to: On Boarding, Work Refusals, Return to Work, Safety Talks and Messages, Recognition, Data Analysis, Coaching, Employee Service Investigations, Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews, Equipment Processes and Modifications, Participate in Meetings.           
• Ensure Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PHSRs) are properly completed including written reports to ensure compliance.
• Develops tools for identifying workplace hazards; develops plant-wide systems that support hazard recognition; develops an effective JHA, manages the JHA based program as a key component of the occupational safety and health management systems; enables plant to move from basic compliance to a pro-active safety management system.                             
• Respond to all serious incidents to ensure that proper investigation and follow up is completed.
• Ensure records and documentation are kept protecting Company interests.
• Coach all functional areas on addressing safety issues and how to address them.
• Oversees the maintenance and improvement of the site Fire Protection systems including early warning and suppression systems.
• Recommend procedures to improve safety in the workplace and to comply with applicable legislation.
• Reviews and follows up with supervisors to ensure timeliness, appropriateness of incident follow through on corrective action and root cause analysis.
• Ensure that personal protective equipment is provided and being utilized, and all applicable record keeping is up to date.
• Conduct workplace inspections and hazard assessments i.e. safeguarding and lock out.
• Flexible Shifts, engagement in shift operations. May be required to respond to emergencies after hours
• Maintain OHS metrics and documentation with the ability to present this information to applicable parties
• Supports the implementation and monitoring of the OHS Management system and associated business OHS programs.
