Overview

We’re looking for an intermediate-level accounting professional to join our Calgary team, as we focus on strengthening our processes and adding value to our internal and external stakeholders. You’ll use the SAP Materials Management module to validate Suncor’s inventory positions at Suncor and third-party facilities, and your accounting and research skills to investigate and resolve any variances.

Minimum Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in accounting/finance

• Two years’ experience in accounting, settlements or crude/refined products logistics

• Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Self-starter, high energy, enthusiastic

• Strong SAP, Excel and Power BI skills, with high attention to detail

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly reconciliations to confirm Suncor’s inventory balances at various physical locations

• Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand and address any differences

• Help develop and implement software solutions to improve process efficiencies

• Support the process of creating new master data to manage Suncor’s expanding logistics network

Location and other Key Details:

• This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

To provide courteous and efficient pick-up and delivery of packages on an assigned route; to check all shipments for conformance to Federal Express Canada features of service; to provide related customer service functions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

High school diploma/educational equivalent

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record

Ability to lift 70 lbs and to maneuver any package weighing up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment

One (1) year customer oriented business experience preferred

Must achieve minimum threshold on mandatory pre-placement driver assessment training

Some knowledge of Federal Express Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations an asset

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Good time management and organizational skills

About this opportunity:

Reporting to Manager, Market Analytics, the successful candidate will serve as the domain expert in the area of data science. Main responsibilities include administering designated Linux server, maintaining PostgreSQL databases, maintaining and monitoring existing data pipelines, and Dashboards built in R, Python; leading data science projects that leverage data transformation to support the automation and streamlining of projects to increase efficiencies and scalability. This position collaborates with the Market Analytics team members that covers various commodities; crude oil, refined products, natural gas, and NGLs.

What you’ll do:

• Build, manage and analyze automated data scrapes that support data collection, integration and visualization, dashboards, predictive analytics, and data mining

• Ideate alternative procedures and processes to discover data relationships that drive new insights

• Leverage data science tools and techniques in analyzing large datasets that will enable development of custom models and algorithms to uncover insights, trends, and patterns in the data that can be used to support decision making

• Evaluation of analytics and machine learning technologies for use in the business and communicate findings to key team members through reports and presentations

• Build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD pipeline)
