WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

 

  • Operates all assigned vehicles, single or tandem axle configuration, forklifts, etc. in accordance with established safety standards and proper vehicle operation techniques. 
  • Performs and records daily safety checks of assigned vehicle(s) and associated equipment by conducting pre-trip inspections such as checking fuel and oil levels, inspecting tires, lights, and brakes. Follows the preventative maintenance program and keeps truck clean to maintain professional appearance.
  • Loads and unloads containers, pallets, or materials and products safely on trucks, trailers, or railcars by hand or by forklift truck. When loading, ensures loads are evenly balanced and distributed from the front of the trailer to the back and from side to side, as well checks axle weights and maintains them in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation regulations.
  • Ensures that all deliveries and pickups are made in accordance with time schedules and performs duties in a manner that promotes superior customer service and professionalism within the company and the industry.
  • Ensures that all associated documentation, such as bill of ladings, delivery slips, invoices are completed accurately and returned to the branch location at the end of the day in order to ensure timely receiving and payment of invoices.
  • Completes the necessary paperwork including accurate logbooks, records of cargo and any other assigned record-keeping duties on a daily basis.

 

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

 

  • Must possess a valid class AZ license, a driving abstract that represents a history of safe operation, as well as the ability to maintain insurability
  • A strong mechanical aptitude with ability to problem solve
  • Demonstrate ability to read maps, work orders, follow specific delivery directions and instructions
  • Must have experience driving off-road
  • Availability on weekends and after 4pm on weekdays

 

Working Conditions:

 

Mostly outdoors and behind the wheel of a truck.  Physical activity includes operating, loading/unloading equipment, inspecting vehicles and equipment, walking, climbing, occasionally in awkward positions, in an environment which may be characterized by changes in temperature.  Working occasional irregular hours as needed; may include overtime, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays and to work extended hours as business conditions warrant.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do: Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the Facility Maintenance Operator is part of a team responsible for the ongoing upkeep of the building envelope and grounds at the London Poultry facility.  You will work closely with a variety of specialized contractors to ensure timely completion and adherence to preventative maintenance plans.  You will operate yard equipment such as tractors, fork lifts, articulating booms and more to support various functions around the plant.
As a Facility Maintenance Operator, you will:

  • Liaison and support facility contractors while onsite performing work or inspections
  • Execute minor repairs to the building envelope and systems in a timely manner aligning with the maintenance work management process
  • Perform rooftop equipment general maintenance including HVAC filter replacements, inspections, lubrications, etc.
  • Perform and participate in facility inspections in accordance with the Food Safety and preventative maintenance programs
  • Operate yard equipment such as tractors, fork lifts, articulating booms, scissor lifts, etc.
  • Perform housekeeping, janitorial and other general maintenance duties
  • Generate work request notifications for corrective repairs discovered during routine inspections 
  • Sweeping of yard around dock chock mechanisms as required
  • Snow removal, salt and sand activities at all man door entrances and safety exits as required
  • Lawn and yard work as required which may include lawn cutting, weed removal, parking lot sweep, garbage pickup, as needed
  • Be able to work weekends and have flexibility to work a rotating shift
  • Other work as assigned by management

What you will do:

  • Receive incoming shipments and checking for accuracy
  • Put away product to correct areas in the warehouse in a timely manner
  • Pick, pack and ship customer orders, including preparing documentation for shipment
  • Liaise with freight companies and inside/outside customers to determine shipping priorities
  • Ensure good housekeeping and safety procedures are maintained in shipping area
  • Responsible for transporting material to and from customer sites and other local locations.
  • Obtain necessary shipping documentation related to the assigned route.
  • Load items and orders into truck while adhering to a sometimes tight to delivery schedule.
  • Consolidate items and skids to maximize space in the trailer using a forklift or pump truck to load material.                                   

 

What will you bring:

  • Valid G license required.
  • Clean driver’s abstract is required. (No traffic tickets, no points, and no “at-fault” accidents within the last 3 years)
  • Previous Warehouse experience an asset
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Must be dependable and reliable and willing to take initiative
  • Able to regularly lift up to fifty (50lbs) pounds
  • Forklift certified or ability to be certified
  • WHMIS and TDG certification would be an asset

Position Overview:

Wages: $ 17.11 an hour. 

Shift timings: Rotational (12 hours shift schedule)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform access control provision duties, verify visitors coming on-site and parking enforcement. Dispatch duties via radio communication accepting all radio calls.
  • Filling Access logs.
  • Assigning keys to contractors.
  • Must be willing to be trained on all positions and work all positions.
  • Traffic Management and regular patrols.
  • Any other duties requested by Securitas.
  • Investigate incidents of trespassers along fence perimeters and property. Deter trespassers from the property.
  • Follow security breach procedures by notifying supervisors or other appropriate personnel when security breaches occur.
  • Monitor CCTV footage and cameras for irregularities and perform dispatch duties for the site including emergency response.
  • Perform foot patrols inside and outside the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Valid Ontario Security License
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid Full G Driver’s license.
  • A clean drivers’ abstract. 
  • Thorough understanding of security protocols and procedures including emergency response
