Reporting to the Terminal Operations SupervisorTerminal Service Attendants are responsible for 

 

  • Cleaning terminal buildings and grounds including washing and waxing floors/walls, washing windows, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning washrooms; replenishing supplies and maintaining an inventory of supplies; removing garbage and picking up litter; shovelling snow, sanding, power washing, lawn mowing, weed-eating and sweeping grounds; and maintaining garden areas. 
  • Providing fare, schedule and procedural information to customers; listening to customers’ complaints and requests; resolving or referring to appropriate resource; and applying the Service Interruption Plan as required. 
  • Directing vehicle and foot traffic; checking and collecting boarding passes; assisting customers on/off vessel; and assisting with disabled vehicles. 
  • Inspecting berths, ramps and docks; assisting with vessel docking including adjusting ramps and handling mooring lines; giving the all clear for vessel departure as required; assisting vessel in ship-to-shore power hook up; checking for and advising vessel of any potentially hazardous conditions including dangerous goods, oversize vehicles and weight restrictions; and providing an accurate vehicle and passenger count for the vessel. 
  • Inspecting and performing routine maintenance of terminal facilities and equipment including minor painting; and identifying and taking appropriate action to address repairs or deficiencies. 
  • Driving the fleet vehicle to pick up or deliver materials; unloading and loading materials on vessel; operating the forklift if required; and handling baggage. 
  • Participating in safety drills; setting alarms and securing terminal at closing; identifying situations which present a safety hazard; and conducting rounds of the terminal and docked vessel, and reporting any security breaches or unusual activity. 
  • Staying current with company policies, procedures and operational directives; and performing various administrative support tasks including updating files and manuals; completing inspection reports; maintaining an activity log; and answering the telephone. 
  • Performing additional duties such as calculating and processing fares; selling media; processing reservations; preparing and auditing media sales records and revenue reports; ordering and checking change orders; and preparing cash floats and deposits.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Business Planning, you will have the following areas of focus:

  • Supporting annual business planning and execution via the formulation of business cases to support select strategic imperatives and initiatives;
  • Working closely with senior leaders and business owners to understand their improvement ideas and assist in translating them into concrete business cases, inclusive of OPEX/CAPEX investments and quantified benefit statements;
  • Partner closely with corporate finance, assisting their annual financial planning and capital management processes via strengthened business contributions;
  • Encouraging and empowering improved business case development within the business by developing and maintaining a reference guide of common unit cost reduction or unit margin figures that can be leveraged by improvement opportunities to rapidly create and assess draft proposals;
  • Supporting the design, implementation, and sustainment of the company’s forward-looking investment prioritization and decision-making framework and planning processes;

What you bring to the team

  • 5+ years of experience leading and supporting business case development and investment prioritization initiatives, ensuring alignment to measurable financial and operational outcomes. Including direct experience in:
    • Developing a strong understanding of core business cost structures and revenue drivers to inform investment decisions
    • Translating operational KPI improvements into financial impacts (cost savings, revenue growth, risk mitigation)
    • Assessing CAPEX and OPEX requirements to evaluate total investment value and return
    • Designing and implementing investment prioritization and selection frameworks to optimize and balance the overall investment project portfolio
  • 5+ years of experience partnering with, presenting to, and advising a Senior Leadership team (Director level and above) on investment decisions in a mid-to-large size corporate environment
  • Extremely comfortable with financial concepts and stakeholders, including partnering closely with corporate finance functions
  • Ability to operate independently; given requirements and functional objectives, able to conceive and propose recommended solutions and then work to directly or through stakeholders to implement

Reporting to the Terminal ManagerFoot Passenger Ticket Agents are responsible for 

 

Foot Passenger Ticket Agent duties:  

  • Calculating and collecting passenger fares; receiving cash or corporate media; and processing employee passes. 
  • Responding to passenger inquiries; providing route and schedule information; directing passengers to appropriate berths and Terminal facilities; and arranging assistance for elderly or disabled travellers. 
  • Carrying out revenue procedures, preparing the float, cashing up, filling out the bank deposit, and inputting daily sales totals into the computer and filing copies. 
  • Ensuring that the ticket booths are stocked with boarding passes, charge card forms, and other revenue documents. 

 

Vehicle Ticket Agent duties: 

  • Acquiring a float and ensuring that there is an adequate stock of schedules and media items in the booth. 
  • Operating a cash register; determining and calculating appropriate fares; accepting cash, credit cards, or corporate media payments; directing passengers to correct lanes for their destinations; ensuring that traffic line-ups at the ticket booth are progressing in a timely fashion.
