As a Dock Lead Hand you will work to ensure service to customers is met, that costs to the company meet goals through the scheduling of dock staff, proper loading and unloading techniques, planning vehicles, and managing claims.
How You’ll Help:
- Operate equipment in keeping with legislation, policies and procedures, ensuring safety and efficiency in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life.
- Load and unload cargo
- Promptly report all incidents or accidents to supervisor
- Ensure proper use of protective gear and safe operation of machinery.
- Report continuing performance and attendance issues to supervisor
- Answer questions and coach team members on all dock area processed or equipment operation.
- Maintain records and documents as required
- Assist in training workers on equipment operation and company safety policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate issues to supervision, management and other leads/employees
- Assist whenever necessary and other duties that may be assigned.
- Provides basic leadership and guidance to dock workers to ensure safe and efficient handling of cargo.
- Relays information from the Operations Manager to Dock Workers and keeps the Operations Manager updated with dockside operations.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of secondary education, with preference of post-secondary education (general stream), or a combination of education and experience.
- Forklift certified
- Trained in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- WHMIS certified
- Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred, various roles within transportation would be beneficial
- Communication skills - advanced
- Computer skills – accuracy, MS products, AS400, web-based programs
- Demonstrated customer relationship skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Able to work deadlines in a high transactional environment
- Ability to champion business needs in a collaborative manner to colleagues
- Results focused
- English, other languages an asset

During a typical day, you will:

Greet our customers in person and over the phone to promote BCAA insurance products and services to best fit their lives, including new memberships, travel insurance, ICBC and optional auto insurance.

Collaborate with BCAA Support Teams and Underwriting to recommend the right coverage for our customers

Identify cost-saving opportunities to support our customers’ life events and future needs.

Work together with team members to provide exceptional customer service and meet sales goals

What you bring

At least two years’ experience in asales andservice environment

Level 1Insurance license (or a commitment to secure your license within your first 45 days through BCAA). BCAA will provide time and cover the cost.

In this position, you’ll often be the first person our Members see when they need help. As part of an amazing network of 100 Road Assist team members, you'll share your genuine passion for helping others by providing friendly and professional roadside mechanical assistance or towing services to members of BCAA and affiliated clubs.
Every day brings something new in this fast-paced, hands-on role. As a Temporary Full-Time Associate Fleet Technician, you’ll use your mechanical expertise and problem-solving skills to help Members get back on the road safely and efficiently. Whether changing a tire, diagnosing an issue, or arranging a tow, you’ll be the reassuring presence our Members count on when they need it most.
Enjoy a rolling 37.5-hour work week, with shifts ranging from 8 to 11.25 hours, scheduled one month in advance. Once you join our 'Shift Pick Pool,' you’ll benefit from a one-year shift lock — offering stability, predictability, and a better work-life balance.
This is a 12-month temporary full-time contract with the potential for extension or permanent conversion based on performance and operational needs.

What you’ve done:

Completed your high school diploma and a certificate in a relevant field.

Up to 2 years of mechanical experience, preferably within automotive or towing and recovery or equivalent combination of education and experience.

You’re a confident driver with a clean BC Driver License Class 5.

A proven track record in dealing with customer issues.

Capable of safely lifting at least 70lbs during Member service, while prioritizing safety throughout the process.

You’re confident using technology (laptops, tablets and smartphones) and have strong English communication skills. A second language is an asset.
