Requirements:

Experience: Candidates should have minimum of six (6) months public facing customer service experience or experience driving a commercial vehicle or other large vehicle is an asset.

Physical Requirements:

• • The candidates should be able to perform all tasks related to boarding/deboarding and securing a wheeled mobility aid (WMA) customer

• • The candidates may be asked to load and unload customer baggage, which may from time to time involve some degree of heavy lifting
  • The candidates will be in a constant sitting position for extended periods of time without relief

• • The candidates should have a high degree of visual concentration
  • The candidates may experience variable weather conditions for short periods and also deal with noise, fumes, dirt, dust, and irate customers

• The candidates may have overnight travel
• The candidates will work rotating shift work, including split shifts, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, plus statutory holidays, and they should comply with Ontario Commercial Driving Hours of Service regulations

Other Requirements:

• • The candidates should have a level of reading, writing, and learning skills normally attained through a high school education

• • The candidates should have the ability to assist patrons and emergency services under the direction from Operations Control
  • The candidates should possess interpersonal skills to maintain customer relations

• The candidates should have good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with customers in different situations such as detours and emergency information

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to transport and assist customers and baggage if required when on an assigned bus run
• The candidates should be able to examine proof of payment in the form of proper fare media for the zones traveled and operate fare equipment
• The candidates should be able to take responsibility for fare transactions and tickets for various time periods
• The candidates should be able to reconcile sales records, ensuring the validity of sales and receipts as prescribed
• The candidates should be able to ensure all Transit Regulations are observed by customers
• The candidates should be able to make announcements and distribute and collect marketing surveys
• The candidates should be able to perform pre and post-trip bus inspections in accordance with the most current regulations
