What will I be doing?
  • Manage the delivery of the Schedule 29 as part of the ECWE Project Agreement focusing on Safety, Security and System Assurance. Ensure project compliance with internal MX processes, safety, security, and cybersecurity international standards.
  • Facilitate collaboration between internal Metrolinx Stakeholders and Technical Advisors to evaluate safety, security, or cybersecurity-related plans, governing processes, and reports prepared by the Technical Advisor or Contractors.
  • Manage relationships with External Stakeholders, coordinating safety, security, and cybersecurity documentation reviews, approvals, and resolution of technical issues for the Project.
  • Contribute to establishing the vision and formulating strategies for project safety, security, and cybersecurity.
  • Participate in the development and assessment of safety, security, and cybersecurity certification proposals and review the comprehensiveness and accuracy of related Submittals.
  • Deliver the Project within scope, on budget and on schedule.
  • Support the Project Delivery Team in the development of Project scope and requirements, Project controls, Project Schedule and budget management, contract administration, quality and risk management, and progress monitoring/ reporting.
  • Evaluate project progress and compliance with Project Agreement requirements, identifying any deficiencies and opportunities for improvement, and providing recommendations for solutions. 
  • Assist with project management of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a university degree in Electrical Engineering – or a combination of relevant education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering License (P. Eng) and Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrates experience in managing Projects involving safety, security, and cybersecurity processes, standards, and applications.
  • Experience of Rapid Transit system planning, design development and execution, and delivery to Revenue Service. 
  • Experience in project management principles and practices, including budget and schedule controls, and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines, budgets, and project performance objectives.
  • Knowledge of identification and management of project risks and mitigations.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to monitor contractor performance and contract compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and contract terms.
  • Knowledge of CMREA, CENELEC EN 50126, 50128, 50129, security and cybersecurity standards and procedures applicable to working in an operating Railway environment.
  • Excellent oral, written/presentation, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively in a large, integrated, matrix team environment.

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. Qualification as an Engineer, as defined by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  2. Experience with Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA) applications  and working Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.
  3. Knowledge of civil, mechanical, biological, or chemical engineering principles and practices as they relate to solid waste management.
  4. Knowledge of municipal, provincial, and federal legislation and regulations governing solid waste management, including knowledge of the Environmental Assessment Act, the Environmental Protection Act, the Ministry of Environment Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations made thereunder.
  5. Proficiency in the use of computerized systems, such as Microsoft Office

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 2 year technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or other engineering related course

Minimum of 3 years of experience in traffic investigations, traffic operations and transportation engineering or an equivalent transportation related field.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Data collection and research techniques
  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Fundamentals of traffic engineering
  • Ontario Highway Traffic Act and Traffic Manuals, city’s Traffic and Parking By-law
  • Departmental policies and procedures
  • Road network throughout the City of Ottawa.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to research data and summarize findings in an organized, clear and concise manner
  • Conduct traffic investigations and prepare/craft draft e-mails and work assignments
  • Write legibly, prepare documentation, information and scaled drawings accurately, and within short time frames
  • Ability to make decisions/recommendations based on standard policy with reference to supervisor
  • Ability to interview complainants to extract necessary information
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team environment
  • Operate field equipment TDC-8, sight distance targets, cameras, radar speed gun, stop watch, etc.
  • Utilize a computer to process, retrieve, tabulate data and convey data
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Work individually and follow instructions with minimum supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Physically capable of travel to sites and work outdoors
  • Work overtime, including occasional weekends, as required
     

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing       
  • Driver’s License Requirement:  A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated; This position requires the successful candidate to use their own transportation.  
  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

Hospitality Services is responsible for the planning, coordinated development, management and implementation of food, nutrition and environmental activities, programs, services and initiatives to the residents of a municipal long term care facility.  

You are responsible for  the preparation and/or serving of meals to residents, day centre clients, staff, and Meals-on-Wheels recipients, and for catering during special events; for the cleaning and maintenance of Food Services equipment and utensils; and for the disposal of waste, with an emphasis on resident safety and engagement. Work is performed in accordance with Public Health regulations, Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and Food Premises Act.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 1 year Food Service Worker program or enrolled and attending a Food Service Worker program at a College of Applied Arts and Technology with completion expected within the year.

Minimum of 6 months of experience in institution health care food service

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Must obtain Food Handler Training and Certification within the timeframe determined by the employer

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide, Ontario Public Health Act (Health Protection and Promotion Act: Food Premises), Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Food Premises and the “Sanitation Code” for Canada’s Food Industry.
  • WHMIS guidelines
  • Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point guidelines (HACCP)
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.  
  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.; May include some evening and weekend hours to meet training and/or programming requirements.; Must be able to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays at a variety of locations.
