Reporting to the 1st Engineer, Engine Room Assistants are responsible for:  

• Monitoring machinery including maintaining oil and water levels; checking temperatures and pressures of main and auxiliary engines, gear boxes, compressors and winches; ensuring operation of boilers; handling chemicals for testing; monitoring all pumps; relieving the watch; and doing rounds. Communicating in person and or by radio with ships’ officers and ticketing staff

The Team

Welcome to the Adult Custody Division team. As an employee at one of ten correctional centres, you will work alongside a team of correctional officers towards the common goal of maintaining the safety and security of the individuals in our custody. Correctional officers have the opportunity to rotate through designated posts in several departments, each of which is overseen by a correctional supervisor and the broader management team to provide direction and guidance. This position is responsible for case management, and program facilitation to support our organizational efforts to reduce recidivism and create positive change. As a Dock Supervisor you will be responsible for the supervision of overall dock operations, including day-to-day processes and procedures, to ensure safety and optimal dock performance. 

How You’ll Help: 

• Provide daily guidance and motivation to Dock Workers (employees and agency workers) to ensure achievement of operational objectives for the terminal. 
• Escalates issues of individual poor performance, inappropriate behavior, absenteeism, etc. to the Operations Manager.
