The Integrated Infrastructure Services Department designs and delivers infrastructure for Edmonton on behalf of City Council and residents. The Communications Coordinator will work closely with other team members to provide integrated communications services for the department.

- Assist in the development and implementation of integrated communications plans involving a range of activities and projects
- Draft and proof copy for news releases, public service announcements, backgrounder documents, collateral materials, newsletters, advertising copy, key messages, speaking notes, and other communications materials
- Generate story ideas, social media posts and media activities to advance the City’s strategic goals
- Develop engaging content for the City of Edmonton’s websites and digital channels
- Provide communications support for internal and external events
- Coordinate and facilitate messaging for media, and internal and external communications
- Liaise with internal colleagues, external suppliers and stakeholders
- Coordinate revision, approvals, production and distribution of communication materials (e.g., print, posters, leaflets, brochures, guides, newsletters, videos and advertisements) and liaise with suppliers and others to ensure products meet objectives and specifications, on time and within budget
- Achieve results with a commitment to a respectful and inclusive style
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Completion of a two-year post-secondary diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related discipline
- Minimum of two years of experience in a designated communications, public relations, public affairs, public information or related position, ideally within a large complex organization
- Knowledge of public relations, corporate communications principles, and corporate marketing principles and techniques
- Demonstrated ability to gather technical information from clients and translate it into accessible communications materials
- A proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver quality communication products and advice on time
- General knowledge of advertising, media, social media, video and design coordination, and print production
- Proven track record of building effective working relationships with marketing communications staff, clients and internal groups at all levels of an organization; demonstrated respectful and inclusive working style
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience creating formal business materials
- Experience and proficiency with contemporary computer technologies (e.g. Google platform, Adobe Suite, etc.)
- Ability to work after hours or on-call as needed
- Willingness to listen, learn and lead with empathy and develop your Leadership Competencies

Your Skills and Experience:
- Post-secondary education, preferably in operations, logistics, or business
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Minimum of five years' experience in the transportation industry or warehousing industry, preferably dock operations
- Previous leadership experience and/or experience in the transportation industry are strong assets
- Strong leadership skills specifically the ability to motivate and drive engagement to achieve objectives, facilitate conflict resolution, and to provide training
- Advanced communication skills, particularly verbal
- Computer skills, including the use of MS Word, Excel & Outlook, and web-based programs as well as RF scanners. Experience using AS400, a strong asset

- Coordinate travel arrangements for Executive Director's, booking flights, hotels, and transportation services, as well as managing travel itineraries and expenses.
- Prepare expense claims.
- This position will be responsible to support the tracking of community engagement requests for both Community Relations unit in Value and Impact Division and Partner and Stakeholder Engagement in Corporate Comms.
- Maintain a division diary date system for the Executive Director's to monitor the Annual Performance Plans (APP) for all members within the Division.
- Maintain detailed financial records of all non-personnel expenditures and invoicing as needed.
- Create and assign Executive Office Tracking Sheets.
- Ensure all tracking sheets are concluded in the system in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college.
- A minimum of three (3) year’s diversified word and information processing experience.
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel and Outlook.
- Proficiency with Powerpoint would be an asset.
- Must have good interpersonal communication skills and be able to multitask and provide courteous and professional work.
- Must have excellent time management and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work with standard office software programs.
- Demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the ability to multitask.

- As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
Salary Range:
21M, Salary Grade: 012, $26.92 - $33.76 (Hourly), $1,817.60 - $2,279.10 (Bi-Weekly), $47,440.40 - $59,485.49 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
