Our Buildings & Facilities Maintenance Section is looking for a self motivated Plumber/Gasfitter to perform preventative maintenance and service/repair operations on various mechanical systems and components in a variety of City facilities. You will learn about all aspects of the trade while working in a safe, clean, and secure environment with state of the art tools and up-to-date training.
Specific duties include:
- Install components, repair/replacement kits on plumbing fixtures and trim
- Clean, adjust, test and repair gas fired heating appliances (natural and propane gas)
- Perform emergency repairs to plumbing and heating systems on a rotational 24 hour call out basis
- Install, alter/modify drainage waste and vent systems
- Install, test and repair cross-connection control devices
- Repair and perform preventative maintenance duties to pool filtration systems
- Repair, adjust and winterize irrigation systems
- Install, test, and maintain gas (propane and natural) piping, valves, regulators, supports and hangers
- Report on a daily basis the status of work progress and condition of equipment/systems
- Operate service vehicles and maintaining a "Truck Stock" consisting of tools and materials
- Perform all tasks in a safe and environmentally correct manner and advising Foreman/Supervisor of any health and safety or environmental protection concerns
- Record work in SAP Plant Maintenance system
- Attend and participate in safety and environmental protection meetings and training
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Completion of a Journeyman Plumber Certificate and a Journeyman Gasfitter A. The Gasfitter B will be considered at the 4th year apprentice level. Certificate must be recognized by Government of Alberta Advanced Education and Technology
- Knowledge of building maintenance procedures, construction methods, and regulatory codes in the Plumbing/Gasfitting trades
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade and ability to work safely with a variety of power tools
- Knowledge and ability to read/interpret blueprints, layout, quantity take offs for ordering of the required materials
- Experience in the maintenance and service of plumbing, heating, boiler and pool related systems is an asset
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures
- Strong communication and customer service skills (written and verbal)
- Commitment to continual learning, teamwork and providing excellent customer service
- Ability to work as a member of a team or to work independently
- Hire is dependent upon an Enhanced Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

- Track and monitor notification orders for completion, closing and distributing to Waste Inspectors
- Receive notification orders from supervisors and contractors for processing and/or distribution
- Create new sites, update billing changes and enter information into Active List, Database and CIS systems
- Provide administrative and reception support to the ongoing operations of the business area, including support for Branch and Department staff and general public inquiries via email, phone or in-person
- Schedule and organize meetings - prepare the boardroom, take minutes, and create agendas
- Ensure document management, retention, disposition and distribution, adhering to FOIP requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, including business subjects with an emphasis on general office practices, or completion of an office administration certificate

Qualifications

The Corporate Accounts Receivable (AR) team is responsible for the delivery of internal and external billings for goods and/or services provided by the City.
The primary purpose of the Accounting Assistant I - Corporate Billings includes processing and generating customer invoices and payment reminders, managing customer account reconciliations and generating accounting reports.
This position is required to provide excellent customer service on behalf of the departments within the City of Edmonton in accordance with defined policy and procedure.

- Process Corporate billings, Fleet billings and Sales & distribution (S&D) invoicing for various services and/or goods provided by the City through Billing advice request, pass-offs, uploads, S&D and M5 billing simulations
- Manage a portfolio of assigned customer accounts. i.e. Rent, Leases, various Transportation portfolio, Transit, Fleet Billings etc.
- Check, review, validate and enter information submitted, ensuring adequacy of supporting documents for completeness and accuracy as well as compliance with business process requirements and accounting distribution. i.e. Cost Centres, Work orders, Net Work Activity (NWA) and internal orders
- Generate corporate daily invoices and payment reminders; mail out and electronic invoicing
- Ensure application of accounting principles and practices in the maintenance and updating of accounts receivable records
- Perform periodic AR customer process timely account reconciliation and General Ledger reconciliations, for daily, weekly and month-end clearing and transfers as needed to record transactions to a customer account to ensure its collectability and minimize bad debts
- Check, review and process refunds to customers on over payments and clear over and under small balances
- Review and analyze customer accounts and respond to customer inquiries over the phone or in written form by email or letter and resolve disputed invoices
- Reconcile General Ledger Accounts related to AR such as 204000 auto post accounts, cash suspense clearing and Warranty account 201180
- Interpret and apply instructions and guidelines to resolve AR billings work related issues
- Maintain good public relations in the performance of Accounts Receivable duties by being courteous and make decisions within established policies and procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A recognized accounting certificate
- One (1) year of experience in an office environment
- Demonstrated competency in the use of spreadsheet and word processing applications
- Knowledge of corporate and departmental policies, procedures, bylaws and processes in the performance of accounts receivable duties
- Knowledge and understanding of provincial and federal legislation regarding the accounts receivable duties
- Competency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and Google applications & other financial software (i.e. SAP AR module)
- Basic knowledge of accounting, administrative procedures and regulations including GAAP, FOIP and GST
- Ability to contribute as a positive team player in a customer focused service environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and accurately with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, being courteous, positive problem-solving skills and being respectful when administering established policies and practices
- Strong customer service skills and abilities to deal courteously with the public over the phone and in written form via email or letter, and in making decisions within established policies/procedures
- Strong organizational skills to deliver large volumes of work within defined timelines

Qualifications
