Here, your primary responsibilities are to act as a support role for EFRS payroll administration. This position processes payroll transactions accurately and in a timely fashion for more than 1,000 staff. This position requires a highly organized, analytical and self-motivated Clerk that performs assignments with a high degree of independence.

- Provide processing of all payroll transactions including auditing and processing time entries daily
- Conduct daily audit on all of the payroll transactions and correlate them with the Platoon Chief shift sheet
- Adjust hours for all sick, WCB and LTD modified workers and update improper payroll transactions based on audit results
- Answer daily e-mail and phone calls from the staff, Employee Service Supervisors, Disability Management Consultants (DMCs) and other stakeholders regarding payroll transactions
- Provide information to DMC for updates regarding sick, LTD, WCB or modified work by e-mail or phone
- Run Audit Report, WCB Audit Report, Vacation Audit Report, Sick Audit Report and other related reports to audit operator payroll hours and correct improper payroll transactions
- Analyze Final Audit Report to verify all personnel are paid correctly and fix any errors
- Fulfill stationary and lost damage requests for all Fire Stations within the City of Edmonton via Email requests and SAP
- Perform other related duties
Qualifications
- Completion of the twelfth (12) school grade including subjects related to business, statistics, and information processing
- A minimum of three years of progressively responsible in payroll, synthesizing and analyzing data or information processing experience
- Certification by the Canadian Payroll Association as Payroll Compliance Practitioner (Asset)
- High level of attention to detail with strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, multitasking and organizational skills
- Proficient in Google G Suite,Peoplesoft, Telestaff
- Highly developed customer service and telephone communication skills
- Ability to make arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately
- Ability to accurately enter data
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment

Responsible for preventative maintenance, pre-inspection maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on the company’s fleet of trucks in accordance with the applicable level of training and apprenticeship.
How You’ll Help
- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of trucks according to work orders and in keeping with level of training/apprenticeship (see below).
- Maintaining safe shop environment (may include snow removal from the roof, de-icing, washing vehicles, sweeping, etc.
- Journeyperson Technicians independently repair and maintain trucks (see above) and provide general direction, guidance, mentoring and training to Pre-Apprentice and Apprentice Technicians.
- Maintenance and repair of truck bodies, including miscellaneous accessories such as hubcaps, decals, reflective tape, painting, etc.
- Documentation of all findings and work done.
- Lead Journeyperson Technicians provide work direction for all team members and act as escalation point for complex maintenance and repairs.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and training to Pre-Apprentice and Apprentice Technicians.
- Work independently to complete diagnostic, service, repair, and maintain trucks.
- Maintain and repair truck bodies, including miscellaneous accessories such as hubcaps, decals, reflective tape, painting, etc.
- Document and update Service Supervisor/Service Manager on completion time changes, all findings, work done and potential future service requirements.
- Other duties as may be required.
Your Skills & Experience:
- Post-secondary training in truck repair and/or completion of truck technician certificate course.
- Preference given to applicants with Red Seal journeyperson certification.
- Additional training in tire repairs and/or refrigeration will be considered an asset.
- CVIP, an asset.
- Candidates enrolled in trailer repair apprenticeship may also be considered.
- Valid Class 1 license also considered an asset.
- Previous work experience in an industrial environment, preferably in the transportation industry.
- Previous experience and qualification to perform Safety inspections is required in this position.
- Physically fit and able to lift, move, reach, bend, walk, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch for extended period of time.
- Ability to work in tight spaces.
- Strong knowledge of transportation industry’s rules and regulations regarding transport trucks, trailers, and components.
- Knowledge of and ability to use safe work practices, including safe lifting and bending, working in tight spaces, etc.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
- Good communication skills – verbal and written.
- Intermediate computer skills required for fleet maintenance software.

- Perform pre-shipment examinations and quarantine entrance exams on animals leaving or entering the collection
- Perform gross necropsies and collect samples for histopathology, prepare necropsy reports and analyze findings, formulate recommendations for preventive care
- Provide emergency coverage on evenings, weekends and holidays
- Collaborate with colleagues and local veterinary and medical specialists on clinical cases as needed
- Prepare and maintain all required records, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Support research efforts by collecting samples and by gathering and submitting data as required
- Participate in dialogue with the Operations Supervisor and Animal Care staff about animal care and welfare, nutrition, breeding, husbandry, and housing

- Teach and mentor visiting veterinary and vet tech students

- Provide support to Elk Island National Park biologists as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Completion of a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized institution
- Possession, or eligibility to obtain a license to practice with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association
- Minimum of 3 years post Doctor Veterinary Medicine schooling experience in the field of zoological medicine; OR 5 years post-Doctor Veterinary Medicine in general veterinary medicine, preferably with mixed and/or exotic animal experience
- Board certification or eligibility with the American College of Zoological Medicine or equivalent, is considered an asset
- CFIA accreditation to certify health for interstate and international transport of animals
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians, American Association of Zoo Veterinarians, and/or other professional associations with connections to the field of zoological medicine

- Create and maintain internal and external orders for billing, provide support to field staff on equipment, materials reports, and monitor and maintain material inventory
- Assess procedural and operational concerns/issues related to work procedures, environment, and develop operational manuals
- Prepare and maintain documentation of ongoing field operations
- Coordinate safety, Enviso, and operational training programs for support staff
- Analyze trends and make recommendations for budget and operational changes
- Assist District Supervisors with day-to-day management of field operations
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Completion of a 2-year diploma in an appropriate Engineering Technology from a recognized institute of technology
- Minimum 3 years of operational experience in road maintenance including managing continuous improvement to seek efficiencies in routed work
- Membership with ASET as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or eligibility to be recognized as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with ASET
- Extensive knowledge of roadway maintenance operations and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to research and compile information and prepare written reports
- Experience managing hazardous waste or chemicals is an asset
- Valid TDG (Transportation of Dangerous goods) is an asset
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, SLIM, POSSE and Google
- Ability to deal with difficult employees on issues along with difficult citizens on concerns
- Self motivated to meet multiple deadlines and strong organizational skills to produce accurate results
- A valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Drivers License or operator's license equivalent
- Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the successful applicant to obtain business auto insurance
