Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the installation, operation and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and repairs required in connection with general building maintenance
  • Operates a computerized Building Automation System (BAS) to manage/control Building Systems
  • Performs general maintenance work in connection with mechanical and electrical equipment, building services and facilities
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program and records
  • Operates air conditioning equipment including centrifugal chillers and cooling towers
  • Performs plumbing repairs not requiring the services of a tradesman
  • Effects minor repairs to building equipment and fixtures
  • Performs related maintenance work as assigned including the use of ladders and scaffolding
  • Assists tradesman as required

Key Qualifications:

  1. Must have completed secondary school and possess a technician qualification in a building trade or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Operates heavy motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Operates powered vehicles and equipment, including rubber-tired and track-type front end loaders, backhoes, gradalls, roll-off trucks and tractor-trailers
  • Secures open top trailers using straps, ratchets and crank handle to secure tarps

  1. Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class "A" Driver's License (with "Z" endorsement), and must qualify for the City's Equipment operating permits and requirements.
  2. Recent experience and demonstrated ability in the operation of tractor-trailers, rubber tire articulated loaders, track loaders and back hoe generally as outlined in the responsibilities.
  3. Ability to operate tractor trailers equipped with manual transmissions or automatic transmissions.

You will lead a team of engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams including data architects, solution architects, business systems analysts and data engineers and ensure that our data infrastructure is robust, secure, and optimized for performance.

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for data ingestion and distribution of large datasets for processing and consuming.
  • Utilize SaaS services and tools to build, configure and automate data workflows and streamline the data engineering process.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and product managers to analyze data requirements, and build ingestion patterns to bring in new data sources to the data platform.
  • Build and monitor application services and pipeline performance.
  • Conduct data quality checks
  • Experience building data pipelines, and composable cloud-based data platforms in Google Cloud Provider (GCP).
  • Experience configuring and using data ingestion tools such as Fivetran, and Qlik Replicate
  • Have prior experience with data engineering, programming, ETL, ELT, processes for data integration and ingestion.
  • Experience in data modelling, manipulating large data sets and handling raw data, and other cleaning techniques.
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Experience collaborating and working with DevOps and Scrum Teams
  • Demonstrated team player with strong communication skills and a track record of successful delivery of product development.
  • Expert at problem solving.
  • Strong scripting skills (SQL, Python)
  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • 3+ years of experience building Data Warehouse / Data Platforms
  • 3+ years of experience creating ELT / ETL data pipelines from scratch, working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • 2+ years of experience configuring and using data ingestion/ replication tools such as Fivetran, or Qlik
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud: GCP
  • 2+ years of experience with Airflow
  • 3+ years of experience working on continuous integrations and continuous deployment pipeline (CI/CD) and working with source control systems such as Github, Bitbucket, and Terraform

Job Details

Reporting to the Shift Manager, Maintenance Operations Controller is responsible for all aspects related to the technical Dispatch of Air Canada aircraft in compliance with the MCM (Maintenance Control Manual).

Responsibilities:

  • Guides and directs AC, contracted maintenance organizations and flight crews to ensure compliance with AC maintenance requirements, maximum serviceability of aircraft, on time performance and aircraft utilization in accordance with the AC Control Manual.
  • Manage the technical dispatch of all AC and customer aircraft in conformance with applicable standards of Airworthiness. 
  • Coordinating necessary day of flight maintenance activities at line stations and providing technical assistance, including trouble shooting instructions for the rectification of defects (including the managing of repeat defects).
  • Act as the focal point of contact for all Line Maintenance activities on around-the-clock basis including irregular (IROPS) and emergency operations.
  • Communicating any aircraft operational restrictions to Flight Dispatch and Systems Operations Control (SOC).
  • Be responsible for the control of all MELs affected on the fleet.
  • Continuously update the shift manager and other senior management (as needed), on the operational status of the fleet.
  • Stay current with all technical and regulatory training required to function in the assigned role.

Qualifications

  • Possess an A.M.E. M2 or E License with active endorsements on any aircraft type in the Air Canada fleet.
  • Proven knowledge of regulatory programs/agencies (Maintenance Control Manual, Transport Canada, FAA). 
  • Willingness to work shifts and at times extended hours. 
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability for teamwork.
