Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop design solutions (street lighting, traffic signals, power distribution, communication systems etc.) that meet all applicable codes, standards and regulations.
- Conduct site surveys, inspections or technical investigations to collect data for engineering projects.
- Liaison with internal and external customers, other City divisions/departments, electricians, superintendents, civil crews, project coordinators/managers, consultants, various Business Improvement Associations and general public.
- Provide estimates for construction (labor and material) using in-house software.
- Perform development reviews (for off-site scope) and utilities reviews
- Perform night inspections and attend public meetings as required.
- Provide support for Organizational Quality Management (OQM) program compliance activities such as document control, quality control, process improvement and field reviews.
- Review work of draftspersons and other technicians.
- Perform other administrative and technical functions in support of engineering activities as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Completion of the twelfth school grade supplemented by either completion of electrical apprenticeship or recognized electrical technician courses/program.
- Considerable experience as an electrical designer or electrical technologist, electrician or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience in street lighting design and traffic signal design will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, AGI32, Word, Excel and ETAP is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), City of Vancouver Design Guidelines and Construction Standards, Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD), the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) specifications and the Uniform Traffic Control Device (UTCD) standards, and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) of North America standards and lighting simulation.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and theory of electricity and electronics and their practical applications.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work efficiently.
- Ability to estimate labour/material costs for complex projects.
- Ability to prepare, read, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ability to direct and supervise the work of subordinates engaged in technical field and office duties.

- Manipulates data summarizing it for presentation as appropriate for the required audience including HR Consultants, Managers, and business units
- Maintains position control within SAP, including creating new positions and organizational units and structures
- Maintains and drafts Job Share Agreements compatible with organization policy and collective agreements
- Prepare retirement reports for employees and departments, calculating last day worked based on work schedule and quota bank
- Provides ad hoc training to managers and employees on various HR systems and processes
- Researches, calculates, and provides explanation on various reports such as attendance, seniority dates, and other HR system reports
- Participates in, makes recommendations on, and documents various HR processes including collective agreement implementation, policy implementation, and HR process improvements ( including technology such as Service Now)
- Provides organizational and administrative functions such as maintaining filing systems (VanDocs)
- Creates a variety of case files for the functional areas, ensures complete file content and appropriate file naming convention
- Reviews, processes and maintains records related to the grievance process and collective bargaining
- Schedules meetings/workshops and takes minutes at a variety of HR related meetings including, grievance, and investigation meetings
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Diploma in Human Resources and three years’ related experience in a unionized environment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience in benefit administration will be given preference
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to explain and apply HR programs, policies, procedures, and collective agreements
- Working knowledge of grievance practices and procedures
- Working knowledge of benefits administration and pension rules
- Ability to research and analyze a variety of HR-related data and issues
- Considerable experience using an HRIS to extract, analyze and summarize HR data
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing, including the ability to prepare business correspondence, presentations, and reports
- Ability to exercise substantial discretion and deal with highly sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work, work under pressure with constant interruptions
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization to provide exceptional customer service
- Ability to work independently and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to use computer software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, SAP
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy

At Day & Ross, our dock team is an important part of our business. As a Dock Worker, you’ll help us handle inbound and outbound customer freight and protect it from damage. You'll also help us keep a safe and clean work environment on the dock.
How You’ll Help:
- Handle big and bulky freight on the dock, both on and off a forklift.
- Follow TDG, WHMIS, and company policies, as well as any customer requirements.
- Pay attention to the details. Receive and ship freight accurately and efficiently.

Your Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
