As a key member of this team, the Senior Business Investments Advisor will act as a bridge between operations and finance. In this capacity, you will embed closely with senior leaders in operations and back office functions to understand their business and the strategic outcomes (imperatives) that they are attempting to drive forward. Through these relationships you will assist in identifying methods to translate operational KPI improvement into anticipated revenue or cost benefits, partnering with the business owner and finance to table robust business cases with quantified value.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in contributing to the creation and formation of business case development tied to our strategic imperatives and support evolution of our enterprise investment prioritization approach.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Business Planning, you will have the following areas of focus:
- Supporting annual business planning and execution via the formulation of business cases to support select strategic imperatives and initiatives;
- Working closely with senior leaders and business owners to understand their improvement ideas and assist in translating them into concrete business cases, inclusive of OPEX/CAPEX investments and quantified benefit statements;
- Partner closely with corporate finance, assisting their annual financial planning and capital management processes via strengthened business contributions;
- Encouraging and empowering improved business case development within the business by developing and maintaining a reference guide of common unit cost reduction or unit margin figures that can be leveraged by improvement opportunities to rapidly create and assess draft proposals;
- Supporting the design, implementation, and sustainment of the company’s forward-looking investment prioritization and decision-making framework and planning processes;
- Establishing a consistent, comparable definition of value to enable objective evaluation and prioritization of diverse investment opportunities;
What you bring to the team
- 5+ years of experience leading and supporting business case development and investment prioritization initiatives, ensuring alignment to measurable financial and operational outcomes. Including direct experience in:
- Developing a strong understanding of core business cost structures and revenue drivers to inform investment decisions
- Translating operational KPI improvements into financial impacts (cost savings, revenue growth, risk mitigation)
- Assessing CAPEX and OPEX requirements to evaluate total investment value and return
- Designing and implementing investment prioritization and selection frameworks to optimize and balance the overall investment project portfolio
- 5+ years of experience partnering with, presenting to, and advising a Senior Leadership team (Director level and above) on investment decisions in a mid-to-large size corporate environment
- Extremely comfortable with financial concepts and stakeholders, including partnering closely with corporate finance functions
- Ability to operate independently; given requirements and functional objectives, able to conceive and propose recommended solutions and then work to directly or through stakeholders to implement
- Experience working in a management consulting or equivalent environment is an asset
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or related field
- Certification in Finance, including CFA and/or CPA is an asset
- Master's Degree in Business Administration is an asset
- Deep experience in MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with finance systems and tools.

What you bring to the team
You possess strong customer service skills, with the ability to work in a high-volume customer focused environment in a physically demanding job and are an excellent communicator with a high level of self-motivation and initiative. In addition, you are an innovative team player who works well under pressure with the ability to be flexible and adapt to a change in task when necessary.
You have one (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in a food service environment. A valid Seafarer’s Medical, Food Safe Level 1 and Serving it Right Certificates are required and can be obtained upon receiving an offer of employment.
Preference may be shown to applicants who hold an Occupational First Aid Level 3 and/or Professional Cook Level 1.

The Opportunity
The Manager, Transformation Office is a hands-on leader responsible for the operational engine of BC Ferries’ business transformation portfolio. This role owns the day-to-day mechanisms that keep programs and projects moving—project lifecycle and delivery methods, financial tracking and forecasting, purchase orders and requisitions, standardized reporting, tools and dashboards, resource and capacity management, and the coordination of training, communications, and business readiness activities across initiatives.
Leading a team of 6–7 Project Coordinators and PMO Analysts, the Manager works closely with Finance, Technology, Procurement, and business sponsors to deliver accurate, timely, and decision-ready information that enables disciplined execution. Positioned at the core of the Transformation Office governance model, this role supports enterprise prioritization, reinforces accountability across complex, cross-cutting programs, and builds transparent, reliable management reporting.
This role is critical to establishing a consistent and repeatable operating rhythm for transformation delivery—connecting portfolio governance, financial stewardship, resource management, and last-mile change enablement. The Opportunity

As we continue to invest in our fleet and infrastructure, the Fleet Project Management Office (FPMO) plays a critical role in ensuring our vessels are safe, reliable, and continually improved to meet future needs. We are seeking a Project Coordinator to join our dynamic and collaborative team.
As a Project Coordinator, you lead low complexity vessel projects from start to finish—planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. These projects may include vessel refits, dry-dockings, capital upgrades, conversions, or repairs. You work under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager and support more complex vessel projects by assisting Project Managers ensuring the Project Team delivers the defined project scope and deliverables within budget, on schedule, at the required level of quality, and within the acceptable level of health, safety, security and environmental risk. Typical project assignments may include refit, dry-docking, capital modifications, conversions, emergent repairs or improvements to vessels.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who is early in their project management career and wants to grow within a structured, high-impact organization while being involved in meaningful, hands-on project work.
The role
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Fleet Project Management Office, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:
- Acting as a single point authority in relation to internal and external stakeholders, with respect to the projects assigned;
- Developing and executing project plans according to established FPMO methodology;
- Liaising and executing contract management processes related to assigned projects;
- Liaising and executing project change management and provide impact analysis to Project Owners;
- Ensuring proper closing of projects, including the capturing and dissemination of lessons learned;
- Assisting Project Owners and Project Managers in developing preliminary and detailed Business Cases;
- Providing project reports and updates to both internal and external stakeholders in the approved format and frequency;
- Creating and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all key project stakeholders, both internal and external;
- Administering and following applicable BCFS Fleet Regulations, Health, Safety, Security, Environmental policies and all applicable Regulatory and legal provisions;
- Ensuring value, engineering analysis, feasibility and safety/security/environmental studies are conducted when required;
- Working with the Project Team and Owners to develop project plans, including but not limited to: project requirement gathering, specifications, WBS, budget preparation, cash flow forecast, vessel and project schedule, risk plan, resource allocation plan, procurement plan, quality plan and communication plans;
- Organizing and chairing meetings with Project Owners, managers, designers, estimators, contractors, personnel, as well as administering facilities and assets;
- Travelling as required to ensure proper planning, control, management and execution of projects;
What you bring to the team
- Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute
- Training in Project Management Principles and Knowledge areas and working towards Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification considered an asset
- A Marine Engineering Certificate of Competency (Steam or Motor) desirable but not essential; continued proficiency endorsement may be considered
- 2+ years of experience supporting multi-faceted projects, preferably within a shipbuilding, ship repair or industrial marine operations environment

Additional information
The target salary range: $83,500 - $104,300 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.

We are seeking a self-starter and a positive team player who provides essential vessel safety and operational expertise.
Reporting to the 1st Engineer, Engine Room Assistants are responsible for:
- Monitoring machinery including maintaining oil and water levels; checking temperatures and pressures of main and auxiliary engines, gear boxes, compressors and winches; ensuring operation of boilers; handling chemicals for testing; monitoring all pumps; relieving the watch; and doing rounds. Communicating in person and or by radio with ships’ officers and ticketing staff
- Performing general housekeeping including cleaning of all shipboard machinery, bilges and spaces; prepping and painting machinery and engine room spaces; removing garbage; and polishing brass fixtures
- Assisting the Engineers with maintenance work including oil and filter changes, engine adjustments, steering gear checks, and leg alignments; starting main engines and auxiliaries; taking lube and fuel oil samples; and assisting with major overhauls and refits
- Performing daily work routine including taking fuel soundings; pumping dirty oil tanks; assisting in receiving fuel on board; checking void spaces; and cleaning oil strainers
- Performing safety checks; ensuring emergency systems are in order; participating in emergency and safety drills; attending safety meetings; receiving stores; and repairing equipment defects in other departments
What you bring to the team
This position requires Marine Emergency duties training – STCW Basic Safety (MED A1 and MED B2) and Proficiency in Survival Craft (MED B1). You have an ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a safe and timely manner while monitoring and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems.
A mechanical background including formal training and/or a Transport Canada Engine Room Rating certificate is considered an asset. Preference will be given to those with a 4th Class Motor Certificate.

Provides a ‘lead hand’ role for new employees and helpers; and performs additional duties as required.
You have a thorough understanding of Work Safe BC regulations and safe working practices and working knowledge of relevant materials, tools and equipment. You hold a relevant BC or Interprovincial Trade Qualification in one or more of the following trades: Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Millwright.
