Job Summary: As a member of the BGIS SCS Team, you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety & striving to exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities: Functioning as a core member of the operational team and reporting to the Manager/ Supervisor as a Cleaner you may be required to perform some of the following tasks as required by the Manager/Supervisor and needs of the client:
- Clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
- Dry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors. (The washing/scrubbing of floors is done with handheld or auto scrubbers. In large open applications, automatic equipment may be used to perform these functions)

- Cleans washroom floors including stripping and finishing
- Cleans stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required
- Loads and unloads supplies and replenishes cleaning solutions
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- Other duties that management may assign

Job Requirements:
- Experience in performing various cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.

- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the provisions that apply to this work including WHMIS.
- Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items as well as climb ladders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients and the general public.
- Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays and shifts as assigned as well as work in multiple locations.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, prepare and maintain manual and electronic records.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable
- Must have a valid Class G license (may be required)

- Ability to work at various locations around the City, including areas that may not be reachable by public transit and satellite locations from trailers that will move throughout the season
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 3 driver’s license with Air Brakes Endorsement (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Standard First Aid Certificate
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work of this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position including the use of respiratory protective equipment
- Physical ability and manual dexterity to perform the duties assigned to the class, specifically in the presence of various weather and environmental conditions such as dust and noise
- Ability to work nights (this position is solely night work for the duration of the position term in the spring/summer)
- Ability to work a rotating shift (year-round)
- Weekend work is a requirement (this is not a Mon-Fri position, shifted work year-round)

Hours of Work:
- Summer: 40 hours per week- Rotating shift schedule, Straight Nights; weekend work is a requirement. Overtime work may be required during peak operational periods.
- Winter: Average of 80 hours biweekly, rotating shifts to provide 24-hour, 7 days per-week coverage
Salary Range: $32.036 - $34.285 (Hourly); $66,891.170 - $71,587.080 (Annually)
