Overview

As Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly at PowerCor Manufacturing, you will play a key role in optimizing our manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality and efficiency.  You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, develops innovative solutions, and implement process enhancements that drive operational excellence.  This position will primarily be on the shop floor working hands-on on the equipment.

Responsibilities

• Work directly on the shop floor to troubleshoot issues, implement changes and execute process improvements
• Address and resolve manufacturing issues in real-time, including equipment malfunctions, process deviations, and quality concerns
• Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste/rejects, and minimize downtime/cycle time
• Utilize data analysis techniques to identify trends, troubleshoot issues and make data driven decisions to optimize manufacturing processes
• Lead root cause analysis investigations to address process deviations, quality issues and equipment failures
• Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams
• Provide technical support and training to production personnel to ensure proper execution of manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of Pneumatics/Hydraulics, Assembly Concepts/Tooling/Fixturing 
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and quality to ensure seamless integration of process improvements

Qualifications

• A post-secondary Engineering degree, diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years of hands-on experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in an automated assembly environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to addressing and resolving manufacturing challenges
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Machine design mentality, SolidWorks proficiency and GD&T knowledge are assets.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and challenges
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed

The Intermediate EDI Administrator position is responsible for providing support for electronic data interchange (EDI) database analysis, design, and operations. Additional responsibilities include providing product installation, configuration, training, and systems maintenance to update records, specifications, and operating procedures of partner systems.

Performance Expectations 

• Provide 2nd tier support for all EDI and barcode, label applications; ensure availability 24-7.
• Perform EDI administration, such as trading partner setup.
• Plan, design, development, and deployment of new maps and trading partner relationships.
• Maintain EDI account transaction activities with EDI Provider(s).
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and software vendors as needed to provide an additional level of support to the users, and for managing modifications to the applications.
• Develop and execute project plans throughout the Linamar facilities for EDI and barcode, label implementations to meet customer standards. Communicate between facilities and EDI Provider(s) any additional business requirements, as well prompt update of any connection issues and/or resolutions.
• Coordinate and perform in-depth integration testing to achieve customer certification.
• Create and maintain effective system documentation.
•  Provide orientation and training to end users for all pertinent systems.
• Review and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and strategize improvement or further leveraging these systems.

Credentials

• Post-Secondary Education in Computer Science, Materials Management, Business Administration, Information Sciences, or related discipline.
• Minimum three years previous related work experience.
• Knowledge in Seeburger and Inovis EDI software; ANX and ECQ systems; Parkwood and IFS systems; Loftware, XML, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle 10g.
• Sound working knowledge of EDI standards (EDIFACT, X12,VDA), XML, Json, programming tools and languages, such as JavaScript or C# in Visual Studio and hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP, IP.
• Experience with Network and PC operating systems; current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP, IP.
• Automotive  and / or Manufacturing EDI experience is preferred.

Performance Expectations

· Complete work assignments ensuring work is completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.

· Perform outlined procedures for regular machine preventive/predictive maintenance program.

· Conduct troubleshooting and repair activities for machine breakdowns as necessary.

· Install new equipment coordinated with outside services, as required.

· Establish and maintain maintenance standards and develop and recommend maintenance programs.

· Notify appropriate personnel of stock deficiencies and tool/material requirements.

· Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location i.e. TS 16949, OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 14001:2004.

· Support and maintain the department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.

· Maintain performance standards.

· Apply and write the Provincial examination within one year of completion date of apprenticeship

Credentials

· High School Diploma or equivalent general education. Successful candidates must provide proof of Grade 12 (or GED) to Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

· Related work experience and/or training in a machining environment (high volume automotive manufacturing environment considered an asset.

· Experience with CNC machines considered an asset.

· Computer fundamentals considered an asset; with strong mathematical skills.

· Exposure to modern manufacturing techniques (Six Sigma, LEAN mfg.) considered an asset.

· Knowledge of IATF 16949 and related procedures.

· Ability to safely lift up to 40-45 lbs. on an occasional basis.
