PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Receives, warehouses, issues or ships supplies and material utilized in the operation of the railroad. Ensures or performs accurate and timely information in SAP electronically through the use of a computer and Coordinates picking and shipping of all material to customer locations in accordance with shipping schedules

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must successfully complete formal forklift training program given by qualified trainer and have passed all examinations associated with training
  • Six months' experience in a warehouse environment, with a proven record of operating material handling equipment an asset
  • Experience with computerized inventory control systems SAP,EXCEL,MERLIN would be an asset
  • Basic knowledge of on-line computer terminal operations
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 kg after having received instructions and training; and up to 45 kg after having received training and written instructions
  • Must be available to work on various shifts
  • Typing capability would be an asset
  • Must wear personal protective equipment, as required, i.e. hard hat, safety glasses, safety boots, and gloves

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform authorized functions necessary to receive and issue material, either manually or electronically on a computer terminal including maintaining bin locations, entering stock counts, etc
  • Identity, verify and ensure the accuracy of shipments of material received from suppliers, shops and other stores
  • Perform accurate counts of material received, issued, shipped or on hand
  • Pick material required by users. May have to use material handling equipment
  • Rack and prepare material for shipment. This includes completing all related forms such as labels, postal forms, waybills, and shipping documents, etc
  • Load/Unload materials from or into rail cars, trailers, and trucks, and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using appropriate equipment
  • Operates forklift truck, electric hoist, Raymond or other material handling equipment to assist in loading/unloading or moving materials and products
  • May be required to drive highway motor vehicle to pick up and/or deliver material
  • Perform daily inspection of vehicles he/she may operate in order to ensure they are in safe operating condition. Hazards are to be immediately reported to the appropriate Supervisor for corrective action
  • Ensure Government WHMIS and TDG regulations are followed when receiving, issuing and shipping material
  • By use of a computer terminal, enter all necessary transactions into SAP
  • Accurately complete files and update all forms and documents required for the Stores' function, either manually or electronically
  • Ensure respective work area(s) is (are) clean and free of hazards at all times
  • Ensures material is properly stored and secured at all times
  • May be required to work outdoors in all weather and must come to work prepared with proper clothing
  • Perform any related duties, as requested

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

You will assist the General Foreman with the planning, scheduling and assignment of manpower to specific jobs within the Shop/Yard and Line Point environments ensuring that all repairs and/or servicing are performed in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with Company, Association of American Railroad and Transport Canada regulations.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct job briefings, end of shift briefings, safety meetings and activities, ensuring that safety rules, procedures and policies are adhered to through efficiency testing and safety tracking document

  • Correct and document safety incidents, safety hazards/concerns, investigates for corrective actions to the various departments, involving the Mechanical Manager and Health and Safety Committee in the prescribed timelines

  • Support, communicate and deliver to key performance indicators.  Leads to ensure all direct reports have an understanding of the business objectives, as well as the role they are all accountable for

  • Communicate and interact regularly with management within field operations to ensure locomotive repair and train servicing is meeting the expectations of internal and external customers

  • Ensure that there is the appropriate level of stock/material and is responsible for ordering within prescribed limits through the SAP system.  Supports all expenditure reduction initiatives

  • Maintain communication and fosters positive working relationships with local union officials. Ensures the collective agreement is understood and managed as it is written

  • Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and effectiveness of the operation.  Support Lean Philosophy and Principals

  • Ensure locomotive bad order repair, cycle time, dwell time, productivity and key metrics are met including inventory management for all locomotives on the territory.  Coordinate with Field Operations to ensure Local Service Operating Plan (LSOP) targets are met.

  • Direct road repair on the territory to meet 24 hour repair cycle time

  • Ensure repairs and train servicing are in compliance with AAR, Transport Canada standards and CPKC policies

  • Support mechanical forces at train incidents within their jurisdiction adhering to the guidelines of the Emergency Response Plan

  • Communicate and interact regularly with local/external counterparts

  • Work directly with employees in the shop & yard environments to establish self-managed work teams and provides guidance and support to employees to bring about the vision of an empowered and engaged workforce

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a minimum of a High school diploma or mechanical trade certification

  • Proficient knowledge of railway operations (road, yard, locomotive, mechanical)

  • Working knowledge of CPKC systems (CIM, TYES, YOP, Nexus, ITM, SAP and Wreck Estimator)

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel

  • Knowledge of collective agreement/non- union policies

JOB DUTIES AND TASKS:


1. Maintains order and appearance of the “common” and “public” areas, including vacant dwellings


(a) Clears areas by washing, sweeping, carpet cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, polishing and general cleaning and minor grounds upkeep, including outside litter pick-up;
(b) Answers and determines emergency calls and notifies appropriate authorities;
(c) Generates work orders for maintenance staff;
(d) Performs pool maintenance, where required;
(e) Performs unit inspections and assists with annual inspections; responding to or processing resident enquiries and complaints and taking appropriate action;
(f) Calls the police or related public service in the event of emergency or disturbance;
(g) Responds to resident enquiries, complaints, emergencies, provides information / clarification as required and takes appropriate action at all times during the work week;
(h) Depending on the tenant population, may be required to exercise interpersonal and conflict resolution skills when dealing with vulnerable tenants with complex health and social issues.


2. Performs minor maintenance duties


(a) Performs minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry maintenance and emergency repair, such as changing fuses, resetting thermostats, snaking drains and replacing hardware as outlined in Appendix B, Part 1;
(b) Performs various inspections on a regular basis i.e. boiler rooms, fire alarm logs, security systems etc., or on vacancy and arranges for repairs and/or maintenance;
(c) Identifies minor deviations in the performance of routine work specifications (e.g. painting services, pesticides applications, etc.), reports to the Contractor and facilitates remedial action. Identifies and reports major deviations in contract performance on non-routine items to the supervisor or contract administrator;
(d) Arranges for Contractor to view site, enter units when necessary, and ensures that maintenance projects are co-ordinated with site operations.


3. Other related duties


(a) Carries out authorized removal of abandoned personal effects from a tenant’s premises providing inventory is taken jointly with a management representative;                                             (b) When required, shall operate the Employer’s vehicle;
(c) Maintains and requisitions inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies from the Building Manager 3 or Property Portfolio Manager;
(d) Conducting arranged unit viewing for prospective tenants.

The position oversees the reporting of results against budgets and the evaluation of current and anticipated programs, and develops and presents options and strategies to improve BC Housing’s financial position. The role assists in the preparation of the 10-year Capital Plan and 5-year Financial Management Plan. The position is responsible for ensuring the integrity and operability of the core financial structure in the Finance system (JD Edwards EnterpriseOne), and plans and manages projects relating to the design, development, and maintenance of the financial decision support framework. He/she/they also provides leadership and advice to senior managers of the Commission regarding budgeting, financial planning, and other financial matters to enhance financial and business performance.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or other relevant field.
  • Member in good standing of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Association.
  • Considerable experience in managing the budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis functions for a large, complex organization with computerized accounting and financial operations.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the Employer.
