The Packaging Line Attendant at the Saputo Orangeville location is responsible for packaging product as part of a production line according to specifications and guidelines.

 

Schedule: Morning

Contract: 11 months

Salary:  $23.20

There are salary increases in the first year of employment, with a target rate of $24.40/hour.

How you will make contributions that matter: 

  • Wet Packaging – Worker is in direct contact with processed, unpackaged dairy products, and are required to supply the line with the product, placing it into the packaging material, and ensuring product is properly sealed before moving it through to Dry Packaging. Four (4) to seven (7) workers may occupy this position on a production line, and will rotate through the tasks every 30 minutes.

  • Dry Packaging – Worker is in direct contact with packaged dairy products, and are required to ensure labels and product dates are applied correctly, as well as boxing and palletizing the finished goods for the Warehouse. Two (2) to three (3) workers may occupy this position on a production line, and will rotate through the tasks every 30 minutes.
     

General Responsibilities

  • Attend scheduled shift punctually and ready to fulfill all duties required.

  • Meet daily performance targets stipulated by the Production Supervisors, Production Lead Hand, and/or Line Operator.

  • Participate in job rotation, as required.

  • Assist in setup, changeovers, and tear down of machinery and equipment.

  • Participate in daily mandatory stretching program before start of shift, and as required.

  • Report, immediately, any/all food safety and quality issues, and health and safety concerns/infractions to the Line Operator, Production Lead Hand, and/or Production Supervisor.

  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.

  • Complete daily sanitation duties.

  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Adhere to good hand washing practices to ensure food safety.

  • Comply with all Saputo Orangeville Health and Safety, Food Safety and Quality regulations.

  • Comply with all Saputo Orangeville policies and procedures.

  • Focus on customer satisfaction.

  • Take on additional duties, as required.

  • Collaborate closely with peer group in executing company safety policies by providing training and education to ensure that employees follow Corporate and Governmental Safety Standards.
  • Work in collaboration with the Corporate Health & Safety team as well as other Ontario Regional Health & Safety Specialists to foster and promote a culture of employee engagement and continuous learning.
  • Influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis and proactively review and execute safety programs.
  • Conduct frontline employee risk review and hazard assessments.
  • Assist in the administration of SAI360 (safety software).
  • Provide guidance and review of site incidents in developing supervisor’s skills in investigating and preparing detailed reports with strong corrective actions.
  • Audit the facilities for legislative and corporate compliance and associated conditions to ensure that training and preventative measures are addressing areas of opportunity.
  • Partner with local agencies to develop strong relationships while developing a knowledge base within the dairy/food industry.

 

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • A degree/diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent work experience. Registered as Canadian registered safety professional (CRSP) is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of Health and Safety experience in a medium to large organization.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Human and Organizational Performance, CSA standards and Ontario provincial regulations.
  • Ability to travel to Ontario sites and work all shifts as required.
  • Recognized leadership and autonomy, excellent communication, planning and work organization skills.
  • Team oriented and strong ability to engage people.

  • Maintain/ Monitor/Test log all steam generating requirements by operation code

  • Troubleshoot any mechanical breakdown relating to the Utilities Department to ensure minimal loss in manufacturing of our products
  • Work together with all other departments to ensure a productive team environment and the continuous improvement of the plant processes
  • Understand all operating procedures of our facilities processing equipment and is able to maintain it
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by ensuring plant and powerhouse are operating in accordance with T.S.S.A. Standards
  • Ensure all work performed complies with governing practices, codes and regulations
  • Will do full rounds, 3 times daily minimum
  • Independent running the whole powerhouse and evaporators
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring:

  • You have a 4th Class Stationary Engineer license or Refrigeration B and three to five years experience in a shift/operating role
  • Experience with freon refrigeration, would be an asset
  • Must be able to work 8 hours shifts, Monday-Friday days and overtime required
  • Preference will be given to applicants holding Refrigeration B Operator License

Job Details

Reporting to the Software Engineering Director, the Software Engineer Team Lead is responsible for for delivering software for their team at speed! Will have the opportunity to work as a leader of a SAFe software development team. This role wears many hats and is a leadership role that blends team enablement with individual contribution. The main focus is on microservice applications utilizing C#, .NET, and Microsoft Azure PaaS offerings, including Service Fabric. This is a mission-critical software that is leveraged by water facilities to ensure water quality around the world!

 

This position is part of the Digital Data Science & Data Engineering team, and can be based in either the U.S. or Canada, preferably near one of our offices in Loveland, CO or Vancouver, B.C., but could be 100% remote.

 

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Plans and organizes work for the team based on an established roadmap
  • Creates epics for team’s work that include user stories, acceptance criteria, UX design, & architecture artifacts. Can create these artifacts themselves with minimal assistance.
  • Aligns with other key stakeholders including Product Owner, Support, UX, Architecture
  • Managing the people on team including growth and performance conversations and reviews
  • Serves as a scrum master for the team
  • Contributes as a developer
  • End-to-End development of cloud microservice applications with restful APIs
  • Ensure quality of all their work by performing testing including: manual, automated API test, unit testing

 

The essential requirements of the job include:  

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar experience
  • 5+ years in a professional software development role using .Net (C#).
  • 2+ years building microservice applications with Cloud providers such as Azure.
  • Restful APIs
  • 1+ years leadership experience.
  • JIRA / Confluence or equivalent project management & knowledge management tools.
  • Proficient with enterprise data store including SQL & Data Lakes
