Job Details

Under supervision of the Superintendent, this position maintains and repairs a variety of vehicles and related equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews work orders, carries out repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of vehicles and related equipment.
  • Inspects vehicles and equipment, including road tests where necessary, and tests various systems and components to determine specific problems.
  • Adjusts, repairs and replaces parts and components of vehicles and equipment using hand tools and other specialized equipment.
  • Tests and adjusts repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications.
  • Inspects civilian vehicles, as required, to assist Police with vehicle condition assessments.
  • Measures the accuracy of Police vehicle speedometers, as required, and submits certificates to court as evidence. 
  • Prepares Police vehicles for service, including items such as electrical and specialized light installations, design and fabrication of mounts, etc. 
  • Completes required documentation such as inspection forms, service reports, etc.
  • Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees and the general public in accordance with the Saskatchewan Employment Act, Saskatchewan Health Regulations and Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and the City of Saskatoon’s administrative Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures.  Maintains and monitors programs which affect public and employee health and safety.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician Certificate.
  • Five years' journeyperson experience.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of WHMIS training certificate, training provided upon hire.

The Details: 

Wage: $18.48 / Hour 
KM Reimbursement: $0.62 / KM between Stores
Workdays: Monday to Sunday
Hours: Range from 16-24 hours per week with potential for up to 40 hours a week during our peak seasons.
Shifts: Nights, between 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and replenish products in store racks, shelves, displays, and coolers by transporting product between backroom/storage room to front-of-store with manual or powered equipment (pallet jack, hand-truck).
  • Build, change or remove product displays while adhering to company standards; maintaining product signage; cleaning product space and securing damaged or defective product.
  • Repetitively lift, carry and position product (weight up to 50lbs or 22kgs) above shoulder height without assistance.
  • Consistent kneeling, squatting and reaching above the head.
  • Manage backroom by organizing stock (product); identifying, monitoring, and reporting inventory levels; evaluating and processing damaged product; re-packing product; organizing backroom materials (i.e., pallets, product shells etc.); completing any required paperwork.
  • Follow all Coke Canada Bottling and Store policies regarding backroom, display floor, replenishment, equipment, and safety.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work area in compliance with Company safety and sanitation requirements.    
  • Maintain professional relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to push and pull manual and powered equipment (i.e. pallet jack, hand-truck etc.) containing product loads for a minimum of 100 yards without assistance.
  • Ability to repetitively grasp and manipulate objects of varying size and weight requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Qualifications

The Occupational Health and Safety Supervisor is also responsible for coordinating training, communications, involvement and accountability – supporting accident prevention and compliance programs.  You will be the coach on the playing field, providing leadership and guidance to our team members. Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Compliance in OHS program activity (WHMIS / MSDS, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, fall prevention/protection, contractor management, mobile equipment – shock watch, compliance observations…).
  • Monitors departmental safety meeting, advises employees on legislated and industry changes.
  • Creates, audits, and monitors the compliance of any new or existing Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) with the supervisors and employees
  • Develop, delivers and audits the New Hire and the Contractor Orientations
  • Provide support and follow up with the supervisors and senior supervisors regarding accident and incident investigation reports; specifically follow up on outstanding or ineffective corrective actions
  • Enter any and all work orders upon receipt from the supervisors from safety tour reports.  Ensure that they have been properly classified according the work order classification system and communicate any other information required to the Maintenance Planner.
  • Promote the Health and Safety plans, goals and objectives
  • Engage and involve workers in Health and Safety programs by ensuring compliance with active policies and procedures, planned task observations in order to ensure understanding, and inform supervisor if policies and procedures are not being met. 
  • Communicate any and all pertinent or emergency Health and Safety Issues or Concerns with the Senior Leadership Team in the absence of the Health and Safety Manager.  Ensure SLT is made aware of any claims with special circumstance or concerns that may arise out of a claim and approach that is being taken
  • Assist in the coaching and mentoring of the H&S Coordinators with effective tools and practices
  • Provide support to the First Aid Team, supervisors and employees in the event of a plant emergency
  • Other duties may be assigned

What You’ll Bring:

  • Post-secondary degree / diploma from an occupational health and safety / industrial hygiene program/disability management.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication, presentation and analytical skills
  • Self-directed and professional, well-developed English communication skills (verbal, written, reading)
  • Computer proficiency in email and spreadsheets and able to learn a variety of other software (ex. SAP, Kronos)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operates various types of equipment, including a sweeper, asphalt distributor, asphalt planer, compaction equipment, skid-steer loader, sidewalk ploughs, asphalt patching units, truck snow ploughs and various trucks.
  • Performs minor maintenance, servicing and cleaning of the equipment on a regular basis. Assists the Mechanic and Welder with repair of equipment, as required.

Qualifications

Education, Training And Experience Requirements

  • Grade 10 education.
  • Three years' experience operating various types of equipment.
  • Successful completion of Operator Certification.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 1A Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.
