Position Summary
This position is responsible for servicing the transit vehicles. This position reports to the Supervisor of Maintenance and Equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs vehicle servicing functions including fuelling, checking and correcting fluid levels, exterior and interior cleaning and washing, testing of auxiliary equipment and minor maintenance/repairing.
- Inspects lights, general body condition, tires, wheels and windshield wipers, etc. and reports defects to the shift supervisor.
- Ensure security of cash forms and fareboxes during the changing process and proper recordkeeping associated with this task.
- Assign transit coaches for the following day’s route assignments.
- Performs general caretaking and housekeeping functions in department buildings.
- Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of the general rules and regulations of the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
- Ability to carry out work assignments in a safe manner.
- Ability to maintain co-operative and harmonious working relations with other employees.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively work in any of the technical trades within the department.
Education & Experience
Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required are obtained through completion of Grade 10 as well as successful completion of the first year of any of the mechanical trades.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspects, diagnoses, evaluates options and repairs industrial, commercial and domestic refrigeration equipment, HVAC, plumbing and mechanical systems, pumps and compressors in existing buildings.
- Operates, maintains and calibrates computerized and other control systems on HVAC systems within City facilities.
- Plans and/or installs new refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems in new or existing facilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the refrigeration mechanic trade, and knowledge of the work of related trades such as plumbing and gas fitting.
- Knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair existing systems and be able to install new plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as required.
- Knowledge of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE) standards in the areas of HVAC and Refrigeration. Knowledge of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act and National Building Code.
- Knowledge of DDC controllers, computerized building operation systems and other HVAV control systems.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards, safety precautions and regulations of the trade, including the general rules and regulations of the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
- Ability to start-up and shut down ammonia refrigeration systems; charge the systems with refrigerant, like ammonia or freon and experience with air conditioning for computer systems.

Education & Experience
- Typically the knowledge, skills and abilities to complete this job are obtained through completion of grade ten (10), a Journeyperson Certification in the Refrigeration Mechanic trade and two (2) years current journeyperson experience in the Refrigeration Mechanic trade in the building construction and maintenance area and with the maintenance of cooling appliances. Some experience with ammonia refrigeration plant operations and repairs is required.
Working/Other Conditions
- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's license and a First Aid Certificate. An Arena Operator's Certificate would be an asset.
- May be required to work shift work and subject to call-out when a problem arises in the field of expertise.

Position Overview:
- Drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; and initiating telecommunications.
- Organizes, prepares, and attends meetings, preps agendas, transcribes minutes and distributes in a timely manner.
- Coordinates shipments, prepares correspondence, work instructions, flow charts and presentations for Operations Manager(s) with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Coordinates the field apprenticeship program; keeps up to date with Provincial Apprenticeship programs and regulations.
- Schedules training for all members of the Field Operations team.
- Maintains and tracks field staff safety training certificates and notifies staff of expired training.
- Ensures Canadian Welding Bureau training certificates are up to date and participates in quarterly CWB Audits.
- Coordinates Superintendent, Lead Hand, CSO and Site Admin onboarding.
- Assists with confidential information and record keeping including scheduling of Corporate and Field Performance Reviews.
- Coordinates travel and accommodations for all members of the Field Operations team
- Coordinates travel and plans for annual Superintendent meetings/events, safety meetings and other meetings as required.
- Daily interaction with Payroll and refining documentation including, but not limited to New Hire Agreement Forms.
- Provides support to field staff on implementation of corporate directives.
- Ensures field personnel have access to all required documents and information as needed on site.
- Ensures timely flow of information to internal and external clients; liaise between head office and field staff.
Qualifications Needed:
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to conduct research and create reports or presentations.
- Strong organizational skills and time management that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to details.
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
- Must be proficient with all software programs/products utilized in performance of duties; demonstrated high level of competence in Word and Excel; high level of understanding of accounting and payroll software, and other software as required.
- Ability to type at a speed rate of 40 to 60 words per minute.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills
- Some Travel may be required.
