Main Purpose and Function
The Project Engineer will lead and support a variety of complex projects for shared micromobility, street use, and public space-related infrastructure within the Street Use Management Branch.  

The primary responsibilities of this position are related to the implementation, coordination, and management of the shared e-scooter pilot program, and to use engineering judgement to guide the implementation of the shared e-scooter system in accordance with industry leading practices. The Project Engineer builds and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to support implementation and operations of the shared e-scooter system, and facilitates the review process for use of space in street right-of-way and private property for station siting. They assist with conducting performance reviews for the junior staff, as well as the hiring processes. 

The shared e-scooter pilot program and other micromobility initiatives advance key City objectives related to sustainability, equity and accessibility. The Project Engineer will continue to advance these initiatives while managing system assets, service levels and supporting local and regional growth of micromobility. The position reports to the Project Manager II and supervises junior staff. 

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

• Manages projects to support various current and future aspects of the shared micromobility programs such as:
  • Understanding the technical and community challenges of station siting;
  • Administration including compliance of the shared micromobility service contracts; and
  • Strategic implementation and planning for shared micromobility systems.
• Supervises technical staff (Engineering Assistants and Planning Assistants) and conducts performance reviews.
• Provides overall support to the Project Manager II and Branch Manager.
• Gathers expertise and knowledge of emerging policies, practices, and technologies related to the development of shared micromobility systems in North America.
• Creates and manages the station siting internal review process.
• Uses engineering judgement to assess the safety and operability of shared micromobility stations as they are integrated into the public realm and the transportation network.
• Frequent interaction and coordination with other groups to understand and mitigate impacts to other work areas.
• Acts as City liaison with external contractors and other City departments in order to coordinate shared micromobility station siting, permitting, and approvals.
• Interacts with the public, business associations, and other stakeholders to help address questions and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
• Manages the use of public and private space, understanding and mitigating the many trade-offs including the subtleties and sensitivities of competing needs and priorities.
• Reports out to internal and external stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team.
• Represent the City of Vancouver at external events and conferences.
• Reviews and provides direction for shared micromobility requirements as part of rezoning and development applications and related processes.
• Understands the impacts and trade-offs in the accommodation of shared micromobility stations on private development sites.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a professional engineer designation, and minimum four years of related experience in project management including planning, detailed design, construction, and contract management of engineering projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia. 
• A current and valid BC Driver’s License.

Main Purpose and Function

Reporting to the Lead Quality Engineer, the Quality Engineer is responsible for providing support and advice to Engineers throughout the City and is responsible for achieving excellence in Quality Assurance by conducting internal quality audits, overseeing document control and supporting continuous improvement. This position works closely with project sponsors, key business stakeholders and user representatives to ensure that their requirements are well understood and addressed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Administer standard QMS processes such as Document Control, Continual Improvement, Quality Audits, etc.
• Develop, document and improve processes within Engineering Services, with inputs from the branches.
• Conduct internal quality audits.
• Support the development and training for Professional Governance Act (PGA), quality audits and other quality objectives.

Qualifications

Main Purpose & Function

This position works within the Animal Services Department in a fast paced customer service oriented front line environment. The incumbent is responsible for dispatching Animal Control Officers in the field, operating a switchboard, communicating on a radio system and performing a wide variety of clerical duties. Employees of Animal Services operate under non-standard hours of work with established hours of 8:00am – 8:00pm, including weekends. An unrestricted availability to work within the non-standard hours of operation is highly desirable. 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include: preparing and processing various forms and documents including dog license applications and renewals, investigative statements and reports, animal impound forms, adoption applications and all other documents related to the department’s administrative process. Process incoming office mail and emails. Attend front line customer service and reception including dispatch, operating a switchboard and responding to public inquiries regarding the Animal Control Bylaw and kennel processes. The Building Worker is responsible for performing a variety of heavy cleaning tasks including stripping and waxing floors, cleaning windows, cleaning washrooms, showers and change rooms, carpet cleaning, emptying garbage, minor maintenance repairs and other related duties as required.

Building Worker - Mobile Parks

The Mobile Parks Building Worker will provide janitorial services for the citywide inventory of public bathrooms and change rooms in parks. Duties include, but are not limited to: opening, stocking, spot and deep cleaning, and locking facilities.

Main Purpose & Function

The Journeyperson - Machinist will perform a variety of skilled shop and field work at the journeyman level, entailing the operation of machining tools in the fabricating, repairing and maintaining of City machinery, equipment, structures and buildings.

The successful candidate will perform skilled machining and related tasks including millwright type work in accordance with established trade practices and may supervise the work of subordinates performing less complex related tasks. The successful candidate must be able to work either 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday or 3:10 PM to 12:34 AM, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate may be required to adjust shifts and locations as operationally required.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs skilled shop and field work in repairing, building, overhauling and maintaining a variety of machinery, mobile equipment, hydraulic systems and components and structures.
• Responsible for carrying through to completion, the construction, assembly, installation and repair of a wide variety of metal parts, tools, and machines and usually involves working with large and heavy pieces as well as various small instruments.
• Responsible for substantial amount of millwright work.
• Receives written and verbal assignments accompanied by sketches or blueprints, layouts and by reference to broken, worn or sample parts. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for electrical engineering design work and serving as Engineer of Record (EOR) for street lighting and power distribution designs on assigned projects. In addition, Electrical Design Engineer will provide project coordination/managing, cost estimates, third-party design reviews, follow EGBC quality management guides and perform other duties related to City's electrical infrastructure and within responsibilities of Electrical Design Branch. The successful candidate will also work in electrical work related to pump stations, EV and landfill.
