Responsibilities

  • Perform service and preventive and corrective maintenance on all DC equipment following department procedures and trade best practices, working in a safe and effective manner, and adhering to all safety policies.

  • Respond to all equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate repair parts and work records on computerized maintenance system (MAXIMO)

  • Perform repairs with minimal supervision, taking responsibility and decision making to oversee that the job is complete within time demands.

  • Provide information on equipment and system problems to team lead or maintenance coordinator and provide updates as required, seeing job to completion within time requirements.

  • Provide accurate repair and troubleshooting information for all work in Maximo: time spent, parts used, failure comments, suggestions for corrective repairs or improvements, etc.

  • Provide information on equipment and system problems.

  • Demonstrate flexibility when tasks are re-assigned or altered.

  • Follow maintenance quality and standard operating procedures as established.

  • Train and mentor apprentices in mechanical & job-specific skills

 

Qualifications

  • Candidate has Industrial Mechanic Millwright (Ontario Certificate of Qualification #433A) or is graduate Ontario apprentice eligible to write exam for #433A C of Q

  • Ability to work at heights up to 100 feet.

  • Ability to stand for long periods with occasional laying, stooping, and crouching plus frequent heavy lifting (up to 50 lb)

  • Fabrication experience and ability to weld in all positions.

  • Demonstrated skills/experience with pneumatics.

  • Demonstrated machinery/repair/overhaul & troubleshooting skills with material handling equipment (e.g., conveyors, sorters, combiners, etc.)

  • Demonstrated equipment troubleshooting skills.

  • Machine shop experience, rigging experience and 5S experience.

 

Assets

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship (Ontario or Canadian equivalent)

  • Experience with towlines, automated conveyor systems (Intelligrated is an asset), automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS, Eaton-Kenway or HK Systems are assets)

  • Health & Safety experience (e.g., safety committee experience)

  • Strong skills using MS Office (Excel, Word) or AutoCAD

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. OPERATION STRATEGY
  • Manage and develop procedures and processes to meet departmental goals and objectives.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

EDUCATION:

  • Post-secondary degree in Health and Safety, Human Resources, Disability Management or related education and industry experience.
  • Must hold or be eligible and able to obtain one of the following certifications within Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP); Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP).
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) is an asset.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-7 years health and safety experience preferably in both public and unionized environments.
  • 5 years’ experience in a leadership capacity.

               OR Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, collective agreements and related legislation.
  • Additional formal training and/or experience with the treatment, management and prevention of psychological and musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses and/or Ergonomics is preferred.

  • Manages calls that requires a combine presence of Customer Protection Special Constables, Police, ambulance, or emergency response resources for other divisions and services.
  • Supports the broader Network Operations Control (NOC) team in dealing with significant incidents and responses to unplanned emergencies by providing dispatching services and coordinating with Customer Protections Services and community emergency response partners
  • Monitors visual and audio communications including CCTV, phones, UHF radios, Personal alarm devices, Text for help platform and access control points. What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Post Secondary college certificate in Emergency Telecommunications, or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.  Must be able to pass a background check including but not limited to criminal record and social media conducted by Cobourg Police as well as an RCMP fingerprint screening to access the C.P.IC. and P.A.R.I.S systems 
  • A minimum of twelve (12) months related dispatching / communications experience dealing directly with employees, the general public, and police, where timeliness of decisions are critical (e.g.in the police, emergency services or logistics field). 
  • Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy. Must be able to pass a typing test. Must be able to pass the Criticall Public Safety Communicator test.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Must have a working knowledge of computers including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Must be proficient in the use of internet/intranet search techniques to access information. 
  • Judgement is required in providing effective dispatch services involving a variety of situations, which could potentially impact customer safety & security, customer relations and Metrolinx / GO Transit’s reputation, as well as impact the safety of employees and property.  Demonstrated proficiency using sound judgement skills to respond immediately and effectively to emergency/safety situations, service delays and other incidents/events where decisions and action must be taken promptly and decisively. 
  • Ability to make sound decisions while under pressure of stressful situation.
  • Ability to gather information while making judgement calls to relay information to the correct internal and external stakeholders (Customer Protective Services officers, police, ambulance, or emergency person for other Divisions and Services)

Other Requirements:

Shift work, weekend work and work on statutory holidays required.  Dispatch duties include extended sedentary periods of work.  Available Shifts: 80 hrs bi-weekly 24/7 & varying.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Lead and execute complex network technical projects and support operations.
  • Design and configure networks (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi) in New builds (Green field), Expansions and Merger and Acquisition (Brown field) working with technology stacks such as Cisco, Palo Alto and Dell/VMWare
  • Review existing network design and propose improvements to a fully sustainable and resilient network to support daily business operations and future growth, including DR needs.
  • Communicate technical issues in business terms to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Transform our network footprint to make the edge more secure with solutions such as CASB.
  • Troubleshoot network issues including WAN, LAN, VOIP, WLAN as well as security.
  • Provide Tier-3 support and mentorship for junior team members.
  • Implementation of Network Access Control solutions for ZTNA.
  • Create and update documentation (design specs, project documentation, KB/SOP documents, other misc. documentation as required) Implement processes, standards, and governance of network environments.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and leadership in network technologies contributing to integrated solution designs, development, and implementation
  • Follow/review standard operating procedures related to delivering effective preventative maintenance and solutions.
  • Participate in project related work inside and when required outside of normal business hours.
  • Participate in support work inside and when required outside of normal business hours.
  • You will be based in the GTHA with the opportunity to travel across North America based on business and project requirements.
  • Adhere to Infrastructure architecture governance and standards.

  • Branch Network Cisco wired networks using the Catalyst Switches. (Catalyst 9000 series)
  • Data Center Nexus Switches (Nexus 9000 Series)
  • Cisco Voice Collaboration technology such as Cisco Call Manager and Unity

  • Wireless – Branch on Prem and Centralized Flex Connect (Cisco 9000 Series)
  • IT/OT segregation and integration
  • NAC (Cisco ISE, HPE ClearPass...etc)
  • PaloAlto Firewall Layer 3 support and troubleshooting
  • Network Segmentation (North/South, East/West), Branch Site and Data Center NSX
  • IPads, RF Guns and mobility support on the floor plant.
  • Support plant floor end user production systems that are connected to our network

What You’ll Bring:

The successful applicant will possess job experience in the data LAN/WAN networking field and systems.

While we do not expect you to be an expert in everything, we want to make sure that you do have the following knowledge.

  • Experience in 24/7 Mission Critical Network environment, including designing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure.
  • CCNP / CCIE Certifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in large or small groups
  • Ability to balance multiple initiatives and support, in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with the business on a non-technical level.
  • Flexible to a changing environment.

Switching and Routing:

  • Experience and proficiency in L3 routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP and BGP.  We mainly use OSPF but still have some EIGRP on our environment. Knowing BGP is an asset.
  • Nexus Routing and Switching
  • Experience and proficiency in switching where you have deployed QoS and various Spanning tree protocols, port channels and multiple vlans.

Wireless:

  • Operational experience in troubleshooting wireless connectivity and performance.
  • Taking part in deploying Wireless
  • Experience in design using wireless survey tools.

Training, Documentation and Reporting

  • Create and distribute technical documentation for solutions such as Visio site drawings
  • Develop and Implement Method of Procedure documents for technical processes, including new network services, products, device configurations, migrations, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Collaborate with senior team members and network architect on ways to improve different technologies.

Infrastructure Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Monitor and address network issues using our Orion Network Monitoring tool
  • Network patching of Switches, Routers, SD-WAN, Wireless, etc.

Areas of specialty:

  • Having experience in either of these areas is welcome asset.
  • SD-WAN environment and if you have experience in this type of a technology is an asset
  • Operational experience Supporting an SD-WAN Solution, Ideally VMWARE Velo Cloud
  • Experience in configuring and deploying voice gateways/cubes in Call Manager and Unity VOIP
  • Experience in Cisco ISE or alternate solution to manage Radius, 802.1x Authentication, NAC, etc.

 What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a diploma in Business Administration, Transportation Management, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent 
  • Demonstrated years of progressive experience leading delivery of public transportation services.
  • 310T Certification an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and other applicable legislation to manage bargaining and non-bargaining employees.
