Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervising Building and Route staff through the creation of daily work tasks, coaching and mentoring to support individual and team performance, training on regulatory standards and standard operating procedures, payroll approval and conflict resolution.
- Identifying, preparing and managing annual operating budget requirements for Transit’s garage facilities.
- Working closely with Facilities Maintenance (Corporate Services) to review, track, evaluate and report on preventative and demand maintenance requirements which includes liaising with internal and external service contractors and trades to ensure operational activities within the facility are maintained and communication is provided to the facility users.
- Overseeing and managing schedules as related to on-street and station/terminal stop infrastructure maintenance requirements, etc.

- Providing technical advice on Transit’s facilities, equipment and maintenance programs to ensure equipment standards meet Corporate requirements and best practices are clearly documented.
- Conducting periodic audits of assigned facilities to ensure that proper emergency procedures are identified and in place, and comply with regulatory codes, safety standards, environmental regulation, fire plans and protect employees, visitors and corporate assets.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- A Diploma in a related field (e.g., Certificate of Facilities Management, Building Environmental Systems, Business, etc.) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- A minimum of six (6) years’ progressive experience in facility operations or facility maintenance with two (2) or more years in a supervisory and leadership role preferably in a unionized Facilities Services environment.
- Certifications or Designations Certifications related to facility management (e.g., Certificate of Facility Management Administrator (FMA), Property Administrator Certificate and Trade Certification) will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of legislation related to health, safety and the environment (e.g., the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act, Weeds and Pesticides Act, Elevating Devices Act, etc.).
- Understanding and application of codes and systems as related to the operations of Transit’s facilities (e.g., building and fire codes, electrical safety codes, Building Automation Systems, Facility Asset Management Systems, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and familiarity with engineering drawings would be an asset.
- Knowledge of collective agreements and experience with working in and/or supervising an unionized environment.
- Project management best practices and experience that includes oversight and management of facility projects, contract administration, maintaining budgets, meeting targets and timelines and coordinating customer requirements.
- Experience in effective people leadership through staff training and mentoring, facilitation of team relationships and conflict management.

Your main responsibilities include helping pedestrians, especially students, safely cross roads near schools. You'll explain safety rules, ensure compliance with traffic and safety laws, and wear provided safety gear. If needed, you might assist in training other crossing guards.
To be successful, you should be physically fit to stand and walk with a stop sign in various weather conditions for up to an hour. Good hearing, eyesight, and communication skills are essential. You'll work independently without constant supervision and need to be available for three shifts each weekday during the school year. While having a vehicle is a plus, it is not mandatory. The shifts total up to 3.5 hours a day within an 8-hour window. Your role is crucial for maintaining safety at school.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Supervisor, Crossing Guards the successful candidate:
- Assists pedestrians in safely crossing roadways at designated school crossings.
- Communicates rules of safe crossing to both students and adults.
- Must ensure compliance to the Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the City's Respectful Workplace Policy etc.
- Must wear supplied safety clothing and use all safety equipment as per training by the Supervisor, Crossing guards and /or Team Leader, Crossing Guards and/or Field Leader/Crossing Guards.
- May assist in training other crossing guards if requested.

As a member of the VP Finance, Controller’s team, the primary responsibility of this position is to integrate financial reporting, process, controls and analysis into Maple Leaf’s Integrated Report and Sustainability Strategies. This position will work closely with the Sustainability team and support their work. This includes the accountability of producing the Greenhouse Gas (“GHG”) Inventory, staying current with evolving GHG and financial standards and identifying our financial exposure to sustainability related initiatives, such as carbon market credits. This also includes staying current with all new guidelines and standards, including SBTi, FLAG, and IFRS S1 and S2.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Accountable for the calculation and methodology of the Greenhouse Gas Inventory and ensure it is aligned with the latest Greenhouse Gas Protocol Guidance.
- Assess the impact of environmental strategies such as regenerative agriculture and anerobic digestion on the GHG inventory.
- Lead the evaluation of Science-Based Target Initiative target setting and responsible for the application and assessment process.
- Review all Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) metric, ensuring accuracy in data, consistency in approach, repeatability and reportability within the annual Integrated Report, Task Force on Carbon-Related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”), Global Reporting Initiative Index (“GRI”), Carbon Disclosure Project (“CDP”) Questionnaire, etc.
- Support the Sustainability Team in preparing material and attending Disclosure Committee meetings.
- Manage the carbon offset programs and renewable energy credits used to maintain our carbon neutral claim.
- Maintain the internal carbon calculator used to assess environmental impacts to all capital expenditure requests
- Research and determine, in conjunction with the technical accounting team, the accounting treatment and impact of any sustainability efforts and resultant impact to Maple Leaf’s financial results.
- Key subject matter expert in the implementation of a GHG system to automate the calculation of the GHG inventory
- Liaise with external auditors
- Manage a team of two professional staff
- Special projects as required
What You’ll Bring:
- CPA, CA designation, with 10+ years of experience
- Knowledge of IFRS guidance on ESG, including S1 and S2
- Experience with GHG inventory and SBTi would be an asset
- A good understanding of internal controls, especially around non-financial data
- Previous experience with external auditors
- Strong reporting, budgeting, and analytical skills
- Possess strong interpersonal skills to be able deal and build relationships with people at all levels in the organization
- Ability to work with a positive attitude and in a professional manner
- Possess strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand process and identify opportunities for improvement to develop and create efficient processes
