PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The CPKC Police Service delivers police services to the CPKC network. Duties include emergency response, special events policing, risk reduction operations, investigation and enforcement of criminal acts, crime prevention and public safety programs. Candidates must live within 100km of Montreal. The first-class constable’s rate of pay for 2024 is 111K or 53.41 per hour. In 2025 it will increase to 115K. 

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Public Safety through enforcement and education
  • Prevention and detection of crime
  • Enforcement of Federal, Provincial, and municipal laws, statutes, and by-laws
  • Criminal and collision investigations
  • Emergency response to incidents and calls for service
  • Protection of railway assets, operations, and personnel
  • Work with other Law Enforcement Agencies during investigations and in joint enforcement operations
  • Maintain good working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Effectively and efficiently plan, manage, and prioritize workload and conduct general and directed patrols
  • Be prepared to travel on assignments, in response to incidents and for training within the Province of QC
  • Be prepared for ‘On-Call’ & ‘Callout’ – with both there is compensation

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED
  • Post-Secondary education would be an asset
  • Must be fully bi-lingual with the French and English language
  • Must have completed & passed full basic police recruit training with a recognized police service in Canada
  • Must be a First-class police constable and be in good standing with a recognized Canadian federal, provincial, municipal or First Nations police service. Retired and recent law enforcement experience will be considered as long as it was within the last 24 months You must also have experience and the authority to enforce the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Justice System
  • Knowledge of enforcement under Provincial Statues
  • Community involvement would be an asset
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a fitness test (PARE, POPAT or PREP)

You are responsible for performing a wide range of duties expected of a Vehicle and Equipment Technician 2, including, but not limited to, the following: conducting diagnostic inspections, performing general mechanical overhaul and repair work, and performing scheduled preventive daily maintenance inspections and repairs on vehicle system and components including, but not limited to, steering, suspension, electrical, ignition, fuel, emission control/exhaust and engine management, hydraulics, and vehicular climate control systems.  

You perform all maintenance and repairs to a wide variety of fleet vehicles systems and components including, but not limited to, vehicles powered by gas, diesel, propane or natural gas, tractors, graders, loaders, dozers, cranes, mowers, heavy vehicles (i.e. garbage trucks, zambonis, ice resurfacing equipment, etc.), and automotive associated equipment including, but not limited to, boilers and compressors.

Completion of Truck and Coach Technician 310T apprenticeship program of 6720 hours

Minimum of 2 years of experience within a Municipal Fleet or similar truck and coach environment

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Truck and Coach Technician 310T
Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Motorcycle Technician 310G for specific positions
TSSA Regulated Fuels Safety certificate (natural gas, propane and/or alternate fuel) for specific positions
Current Ontario Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certificate card for specific positions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year university degree in Business or Public Administration, Health Sciences, Communications or related field

Minimum of 5 years of experience in research, policy and program development and analysis, project management and evaluation

JOB SUMMARY


The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team provides safe, reliable, efficient, timely and cost-effective transit vehicle maintenance services to support federally regulated transit services within the City of Ottawa. 
 

You are responsible for performing a wide range of duties expected of a Truck and Coach Technician, including, but not limited to, the following: conducting diagnostic inspection of vehicles*, performing general mechanical overhaul and repair work , and performing daily maintenance repairs.  You perform all unit changes or repairs to Fleet vehicles (including but not limited to transmission, brakes, suspensions, electrical components, injectors, radiators, steering, differentials and air systems) and make miscellaneous adjustments to doors, destination signs and other vehicle systems.
 

vehicles*-refers to buses within the Transit Fleet Maintenance Division and any other Fleet vehicle within the Municipal Maintenance Division (cars/trucks, forklifts, etc.). 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Completion of Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship program of 6720 hours
Completion of advanced technical courses is an asset

Minimum of 1 year of experience following attainment of certification
