Main Purpose and Function
The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation is accepting applications from qualified individuals to be added to a pool of Building Workers (BW) to join our Community Centres and Mobile Parks auxiliary teams. This role will provide qualified candidates an opportunity to work in and across a diverse portfolio of facilities and spaces in the City. Qualified candidates will be assessed on the basis of their skills, knowledge and abilities, and may be selected for an interview should they meet the qualifications and requirements of the position and a vacant opportunity exists.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
We are hiring auxiliary staff for two teams within the Park Board, our Community Centres and our Mobile Parks Teams.
Building Worker - Community Centres
The Building Worker is responsible for the enhancement of civic buildings by completing janitorial duties and minor maintenance. A key part of the role requires knowledge of standard cleaning methods and the ability to learn new and effective methods to ensure the cleanliness of the facilities. The Building Worker is responsible for performing a variety of heavy cleaning tasks including stripping and waxing floors, cleaning windows, cleaning washrooms, showers and change rooms, carpet cleaning, emptying garbage, minor maintenance repairs and other related duties as required.
Building Worker - Mobile Parks
The Mobile Parks Building Worker will provide janitorial services for the citywide inventory of public bathrooms and change rooms in parks. The Building Worker must also be able to operate a vehicle on a daily basis in a safe and efficient manner. Duties include, but are not limited to: opening, stocking, spot and deep cleaning, and locking facilities.
The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights and on weekends.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a recognized certification program in building services work and some related experience.
- Experience performing a variety of routine manual tasks in care, cleaning and general maintenance of buildings.
- Experience operating and using janitorial tools, equipment and supplies.
- WHMIS is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of materials, methods, safety practices and simple equipment used in janitorial and maintenance work.
- Ability to arrange an effective work schedule under minimum direct instruction.
- Good health and strength sufficient to perform a variety of routine manual tasks in care, cleaning and general maintenance of buildings.
- Skill in the use of heavy cleaning equipment.
Driver License and Record Checks:
- A current and valid class 5 BC Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record is required for the Mobile Parks Team, but not for the Community Centres Team

The City’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination against COVID-19 is not required at this time. Main Purpose and Function
Reporting to the Managing Director of Social Policy & Projects, the Social Planner II is responsible for coordinating major social planning projects often involving complex and sensitive issues, and supervises a small team to help improve the social well-being of Vancouver residents, communities, and neighbourhoods to create a healthy city for all.The work requires considerable liaison with government representatives and officials and members of Boards, Commissions, private agencies and community organizations.

The Social Planner II applies socio–economic theories and practice, provides strategic leadership and project management skills and leads the development and implementation of multi-sectoral initiatives involving senior leaders, community partners, and civic agencies to achieve key goals and targets. The position also contributes to monitoring systems to track and report out on progress on targets, indicators, implementation, and alignment to Mayor and Council and other stakeholders; makes presentations and reports to senior management and Council and ensures that the strategy aligns with corporate objectives. In future, this position may be reassigned to focus on other Social Planner II related work within the division based on operational need.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitates collaborative multi-sectoral initiatives and actions with internal and external stakeholders, including senior representatives, to achieve healthy city goals and targets including but not limited to other levels of government, the non-profit sector, business, research, and residents.
- Advises senior leaders both internal and external to the City on international and local best practices and methodologies to address very complex social problems facing Vancouver and other urban centres through innovative approaches.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- University graduation in the Social Sciences, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Health, Indigenous Studies, or other related discipline, preferably at the Master’s level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in a municipal planning setting, and an extensive understanding and experience with good results in multi-sectoral planning and implementation of strategic and complex social initiatives. Considerable experience working in this area preferably supplemented by supervisory experience.
- Experience with data management, governance, and tools; analytical approaches, methods, and tools; and production and delivery of presentations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Develop and communicate a vision and investment roadmap for Yelp marketing’s enterprise application stack.

What it takes to succeed:

Purpose
The Account Associate, Custody Services, provides and delivers proactive administrative and client service support to Account Managers and client portfolios of various size and complexity, servicing wealthy private clients, institutional investors and partners including investment counsellors and consultants, both internal and external to Scotiabank. Accountabilities
- Assist the Account Manager or Central Team in providing a best in class, proactive and personalized client experience to high net worth clients and partners, exemplified by timely and accurate account administration coupled with demonstrated technical expertise, personal integrity and an ability to respond to stated and unstated client needs and concerns.
- Provide effective back-up in the absence of the Account Manager or Account Associate peers by demonstrating a detailed knowledge of the accounts and/or administrative functions and by responding to the client and partner needs in a timely manner, referring matters to other resources where appropriate.
- Proactively liaise with internal support groups (ie. GWO, SWM-Operations), to investigate and resolve issues, while also collaborating and sharing knowledge with colleagues and partners on processes, policies, and procedures.
- Process new account openings, review and set-up client files in a timely and accurate manner. Assist with the collection and validation of client documentation and AML/KYC materials.
- Process deposits, contributions, withdrawals, trade & forex and other client entries with a high degree of accuracy in accordance with policies, procedures and best practices.
- Monitor account activity and cash positions ensuring adherence to policy and procedure and identify unusual account activity or operational issues to the Manager or Market Lead.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Ensuring thorough knowledge and strict adherence to the Bank’s Global Sales Practices.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls in order to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

- Operates in one of 3 regional teams in Canada supporting Account Managers or the Custody Services Manager (central team Toronto) in the daily servicing of client custodial accounts.

- Independent administration of accounts with authorization to approve payments up to $10k
