PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

In this challenging role you will be member of a team working in a high production environment performing preventative and corrective maintenance to a diverse fleet of heavy equipment

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Install and maintain standby diesel generators and switch gear
  • Install and maintain industrial components including dampers, gates, fans, bearings, motors, pumps, manlifts, other machinery
  • Operate and maintain gas testing equipment and participate in the issuance of Confined Space Entry Permits
  • Provide isolation, lockouts, clearances and safe work permits on Utilities systems and process equipment
  • Assist in the development of energy control procedures and safe work practices
  • Assist in maintenance plaining and repair of equipment
  • Operate in accordance with all applicable procedures, policies and regulations
  • The job  is within a heavy industrial environment and you may be required to work within various areas of the facility. Depending on the area you work in, the environmental conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet or noisy
  • Safety is our highest priority, and safety procedures and guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes wearing personal protective equipment, such as a hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, and safety boots at all times during a work shift
  • Punctuality and attendance are extremely important to the success of the operations in general as well as contributing to an overall positive team environment

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Possess provincial certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Diesel Repair Technician, or Millwright
  • Be comfortable working on structures at height and be conversant with proper fall protection procedures
  • Reading electrical schematics, blueprints and other technical diagrams is a requirement
  • Be proficient with the safe use of common hand and power tools
  • Ability to obtain and hold a CROR D Rules Card (course provided by CPKC)
  • Must be able effectively complete all assigned duties unsupervised
  • On – call every second week per Union Wage Agreement

Qualifications

 

 

All positions will require:

 

  • Successful completion and graduation from a Bachelor of Nursing program or equivalent
  • Current registration (or eligibility to register) with the relevant provincial nursing college
  • Minimum 1 year nursing experience
  • Excellent communication skills & relationship building skills 
  • Strong verbal and written skills 
  • Commitment to delivering the highest standard in patient care and client experience

CUSTOMER

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Supervisor VI (various workgroups), this position assists in the operation of sewer cleaning equipment, water operations/inspections and water & sewer maintenance activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspects and cleans sewer mains, manholes, catch basins, outfalls, storm ponds and any other appurtenances on the sanitary and storm sewer systems, or otherwise, as required.
