We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our Notifications Services team in Scotia Digital to help us build the next gen of notifications capabilities for Scotiabank. Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

  • Proficient in knowledge of technologies and processes like Agile Software Delivery, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, DevOps, GitOps, Cloud Native Technologies including Docker Containers and Kubernetes, and Deployment Automation & Orchestration.
  • Maintain a technical proficiency with respect to programming languages, scripts and processes to ensure that Scotiabank is well positioned for technological advances in the marketplace.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (MS Azure, GCP, AWS).
  • Assist/support developers troubleshooting efforts of applications in development environments. Timely resolution/investigation of deployments and development environments issues.
  • Maintain and manage the non-Production environments to ensure stability and uptime.
  • Develop Jenkins CICD pipelines-as-code to run and maintain non-Production environments to ensure stability and uptime.
  • Collaborating and providing guidance on DevOps best practices such as automation, code security, CI/CD(Azure Devops), logging and monitoring, alerting etc.
  • Ensure operational and system documentation is created and maintained
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • University or College Degree in Computer Science
  • 6+ years of DevOps experience
  • 4+ years of experience in Azure Devops within the cross-functional feature team to provide infrastructure expertise and support.
  • Previous exposure to the banking industry/financial services is preferred
  • Experience with industry best practices standards (ITIL, DevOps, CMMI and others)
  • Strong development background
  • Competent in tools required to automate CI/CD pipeline- Jenkins pipelines, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, Docker Containers, Kubernetes, Bitbucket
  • Competent in Version Control (Git/GitHub), Continuous Integration Tools (like Jenkins), Defect Management Tools (like Jira)
  • Powershell, Bash Shell scripting, Maven/Gradle scripting, AIX/Linux, Windows, WebSphere Application Server, Eclipse Platform, Banking systems and their integration, Web Services, Microservices, SpringBoot, Java 11
  • Competent in enterprise application delivery and design techniques, including release and source code branching strategies
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in Automation & excellent documentation skills
  • Expert administration skills in Linux server platform technologies, specifically RHEL
  • Advanced knowledge in automating Linux platforms leveraging Bash
  • Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VPC, subnetting, VPNs, etc), security and optimization
  • Azure-native Resilience (e.g., VM Availability Sets / Zones, Paired Regions, Storage Geo-Replication)
  • Azure Subscriptions, Management Groups, and Policy-as-code;

You provide primary health care (PHC) including clinical, counselling and referral services within the scope of practice and standards of care as outlined in the Regulated Health Professionals Act (RHPA) and the College of Nurses of Ontario for clients seeking services through the Sexual Health Centre clinic(s).

As an autonomous health professional with advanced education, you provide essential health services grounded in professional, ethical, and legal standards. Nurse Practitioner (NP) competencies reflect advanced nursing practice by building and expanding upon the competencies of a registered nurse.

You function as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the provision of appropriate sexual health services, and are accountable to the program manager, functionally accountable (for clinical practice issues) to the Medical Director of Health, and to the College of Nurses of Ontario for NP practice issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year university degree in Nursing (BScN) Completion of a certificate demonstrating “Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner” from an approved University

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public/community health clinic, including in-depth knowledge of sexual health and working with populations at risk

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Registered Nurse (Extended Class) current with College of Nurses of Ontario
Current CPR level C - Basic Life Support/Rescuer certificate

KNOWLEDGE

  • Advanced nursing practice including, clinical assessment and diagnosis related to contraception and sexually transmitted infections in particular
  • Requires knowledge and experience to counsel individuals on any sexual health issues
  • Current contraceptive methods and appropriate prescribing of contraceptives
  • Current therapeutics and interactions
  • The Health Protection and Promotion Act regulations pertaining to sexually transmitted infections and other related guidelines

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and code specifications to determine lay-out of industrial equipment and installations

SUMMARY 

The Critical Environments Lead is responsible for the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services for assigned mission critical facilities. Given the risk associated with mission critical facilities, adherence to established processes and risk management practices is important in order to ensure the reliability of operations and achievement of facility uptime objectives. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Critical Operations

  • Shares in the sense of urgency surrounding mission critical operations and that activities are performed in accordance to established processes as well as internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection, risk management.
  • Ensures proper application and execution of mission critical-specific processes and risk management practices to achieve or exceed facility uptime objectives and mitigate risks.

Maintenance

  • Performs regular facility, equipment and building systems monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime objectives are met, uninterrupted client operation and asset integrity of assigned facilities are maintained. Provides observations about facility, equipment and building systems’ conditions and deficiencies and provides recommendations for enhancement and repair.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical building distribution systems including but not limited to single and redundant electrical distribution systems, generator systems, tie switches, transfer switches, paralleling systems, static switches, UPS and/or battery systems, distribution equipment, relay protection, breakers, panel boards, branch circuit wiring and devices.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical building distribution systems including but not limited to single and redundant cooling distribution systems, steam and heating systems, complex valves, redundant distribution systems, central and package cooling plants, chilled water storage, boiler plants, cooling towers, dry coolers, water treatment, point of delivery cooling components, and complex central building control systems.
  • Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through manner in which work is performed and services delivered.

Training and Administrative Support

  • Guides, coaches and trains junior Team Members.
  • Participates in and supports training, safety meetings and initiatives, operational meetings, toolbox talks, etc.
  • Maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where required. Submits all expenditures on a timely basis.

Work Orders and Documentation

  • Maintains work order records within service management maintenance database. Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work required.

Program and Project Support

  • Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance program. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documentations are maintained.
  • Coordinates and participates in facility-related projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts, be on-call and be available to respond to emergencies.
  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able and willing to drive to and perform work at multiple sites.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS 

  • More than 5 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience, with at least 4 years of critical facility operations and maintenance work experience in environments such as internet data centers, raised floor, server farm, etc.
  • High school diploma plus trades training, certification or licenses.
  • Ability to lead a team of individuals.
  • Advanced level of awareness and understanding of the risk associated with mission critical facilities.
