AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

The incumbent is responsible for the building, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Corporation’s indoor cable plant. This includes all aspects of network cabling administration (design, procure, install, upgrade, modify, enhance, monitor, troubleshoot, and document) to ensure the City’s cabling infrastructure meets industry standards and accommodates business needs.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Network and Telecommunication, act as the first point of technical reference for members of the division.  Develop solutions and processes to improve client productivity.  Provide technical direction, advice and guidance to Technology Specialists and other IT staff.

 

  • Act as a project team member for projects of a technical nature which include researching, evaluating, testing, making recommendations, planning and assisting in the implementation, deployment and support of new and existing hardware and software solutions.
  • Assist with testing, packaging applications, software updates and fixes for deployment to computers enterprise-wide. Responsible for determining strategies for the distribution of these items.
  • Provide technical direction, advice and guidance to the Technology Specialists and other IT staff in the functional aspects of hardware and software solutions. This includes trouble-shooting, analysis and resolutions procedures.
  • Responsible in the review, prioritization and assignment of call tickets to the appropriate 2nd and 3rd level technical support staff.
  • Maintain the deployment management system (Microsoft SCCM or Crestron Fusion) for all new and existing drivers to all new and existing hardware currently in the Corporation.
  • Responsible for the acquisition and lifecycle management of productivity tools to be used enterprise-wide.
  • Create, update and provide documentation of the technology configuration and share the information by distributing to the support teams.
  • Assist in the administration and support of core IT systems.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as assigned.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

  • High School (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program of over two and up to three years or equivalent in Computer Sciences / Engineering Technology or related discipline.
  • Over four (4) years, up to and including eight (8) years of progressive experience in a technical support environment.
  • Valid Ontario G driver’s license (asset).
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Certification is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge and technical support experience in: client-server software and/or browser based solutions; computer and/or audio visual hardware; Crestron systems, Microsoft Windows OS; Citrix ; Apple Mac OS; Microsoft System Centre; Microsoft Office and TCP/IP, Mobile device management; Microsoft Intune; Telephone Expense Management (TEM) systems administration; Apple iPad/iPhone IOS and devices; Android Tablet and Phone devices an asset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of support procedures in a technical environment, including automated call logging and issue trouble-shooting, analysis and resolution processes.

Parking Enforcement contributes to the overall safety and security of the residents of the City of Mississauga by focusing on traffic safety. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Supervisor, Parking Enforcement the successful candidate will enforce non-moving traffic violations throughout Mississauga in accordance with City by-laws (Traffic, Fire Route and Accessible) through the issuance of penalty notices.
  • Operate city-owned vehicle during assigned patrols of City.
  • Respond to complaints received from residents, Council members and staff related to parking infractions and regulations ensuring maximum effectiveness in conflict resolution.
  • Assist other Parking Enforcement Officers with inquiries to meet service demands within established timelines; escalate unresolved matters requiring management’s attention and/or other stakeholder involvement; educate and provide information to members of the public and staff concerning the traffic by-laws and policies for the City.
  • Direct and co-ordinate the removal of vehicles by the City’s towing contractors in accordance with the traffic by-laws and the City's contract.
  • Prepare and submit occurrence reports to supervisory staff and where necessary provide situational awareness in response to Councillor or public inquiries.
  • Responsible for the proper care and/or control of vehicle, computer equipment, uniform and other issued equipment in accordance with corporate policies and departmental standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This position works 10.5 hour shifts to provide service to the community 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Availability is required across all shifts (days, afternoons, nights).

Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduate of Law Enforcement, Security, Police Foundations, Municipal Law Enforcement or other Enforcement related program at a Community College or University is a minimum requirement. 
  • 1-2 years Parking Enforcement ticket issuance or administration experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the City's Parking enforcement by-laws, Administrative Penalty by-law and Provincial Offences Act, is required.
  • Work experience with electronic Administrative Penalty Notices and other parking enforcement handheld technology, vehicle License Plate Recognition/Digital Chalking, INFOR is an asset.
  • Excellent oral communication skills essential with demonstrated ability to resolve disputes in a manner which supports our client driven integrated service delivery mandate.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively with members of the public, external agencies, elected officials and other city staff; tact and diplomacy to competently handle confrontational situations.
  • Be a results-oriented individual who strives for continuous improvement that encourages simplifications.
  • Effectively apply organizational and time management skills daily.

Engage the services of outside suppliers to purchase just-in-time repair parts and to perform services.   4. Recommend changes in on-site procedures to respond to regulatory changes (i.e. safety) and to meet customer service expectations. Identify training and development needs of the team, and inform Supervisor.
  5. Share information with Supervisor and others regularly. Assist with budget preparation and setting financial controls. Represent function at meetings and as required on committees. Provide information for RFQs and RFPs. Respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders.

EDUCATION:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. (32kg) unassisted. Typical package weight ranges from 25-35 lbs.

  • Possession of a valid Ontario G driver’s license

The P&D Planner will be responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring incoming and outgoing freight to ensure the most timely and efficient utilization of dock space, equipment and movement of freight.

How You’ll Help

  • Creating routes/load plans that take all business requirements into consideration [customer experience, operational efficiencies & increased cost savings for the company and our driver/broker community.
  • Review route/load plan within system and initiate adjustments to the plan as required, inclusive of appointment freight.
  • Trigger optimization, if necessary to ensure P&D plan is aligned.
  • Ensure all trailer and route planning in accordance with transportation laws and company policies regarding weight and weight distribution, cbing, transportation of dangerous goods are being followed.
  • Plan dock loading, unloading and staging locations as well as monitor and execute dock door assignments.
  • Monitor and review close times and productivity, noting trends to support improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure shipments are status coded when being added and/or removed from load plan
  • Making suggestions for improvement in planning and dock processes for increased efficiency.
  • Other related duties as may be required.

Your Skills & Experience: 

  • A minimum secondary education, with preference for post-secondary education in supply chain and logistics management.
  • A suitable combination of post-secondary education and experience will be considered 
  • Minimum of two-three years’ experience in dock and/or P&D dispatch operations, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Other experience in the transportation industry may be considered and in addition to dock/dispatchexperience would be considered an asset. 
  • Strong communication skills in both English and French.
  • Advanced computer skills as well as experience with MS Office products and web-based programs. Previous experience with Truckmate and Bringg is an asset.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
