As a Plumbing and Gas Safety Codes Officer III, your role will encompass providing specialized technical knowledge concerning compliance with the Safety Codes Act. This responsibility includes conducting thorough reviews, issuing necessary permits, and performing inspections upon request. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring adherence to regulations for residential structures, as defined in Part 9 and Part 3, along with any other installations relevant to the National Plumbing Code and the B149 gas codes. Your contributions will be essential in upholding our organization's commitment to safety and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade
  • Journeyman plumber and gasfitter certification recognized in Alberta with a minimum of six (6) years’ journeyman experience
  • Registered Plumbing & Gas Safety Codes Officer in the Province of Alberta
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle License
  • Minimum of 3 years as a Registered Safety Codes Officer with both plans examination and field inspection
  • Knowledge of standard methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment employed in the plumbing and gas fitter trades with experience involving projects of any size
  • Full knowledge of codes, the Safety Codes Act and Permit Regulation

At the direction of the Corporate Utilities Strategist, the Utilities Engineer interfaces with all areas of civic operations as it relates to the corporate utilities.   • Develop and run various scenarios and sensitivity analysis and interpret financial and business impact 
  • Document all the assumptions, data and findings thoroughly 
  • Monitor, develop and maintain KPls as required for the various business units 
  • Conduct analysis in support of key business metrics and objectives 
  • Monitor and maintain financial data including cost and revenue relationship associated with the introduction or changes to products and services and capital asset accruals 
  • Develop complex financial models to support management decision making related to the profitability of new opportunities, capital investments, revenue models and profit margin analysis Lead the process and reviews on cash flow projections that include operating, strategic and capital budget reporting and planning

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or a related discipline 
  • Minimum 3 years experience in financial analysis, budgeting, job costing, process improvement, financial reporting, benchmarking and preparing presentations for leadership 
  • Professional designation (CFA, CPA, CGA, CMA, CA), or an MBA would be an asset 
  • Strong SAP skills with experience in Plant Maintenance and WBS reporting is a requirement of this position
  • Ability to understand and relate financial concepts, systems and processes to a large complex organization Interpret and analyse complex errors to ensure problem resolution 
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills In depth understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation methodologies and project accounting/ reporting related to SAP
