Specific Duties/Responsibilities
- Manages projects to support various current and future aspects of the shared micromobility programs such as:
- Understanding the technical and community challenges of station siting;
- Administration including compliance of the shared micromobility service contracts; and
- Strategic implementation and planning for shared micromobility systems.
- Supervises technical staff (Engineering Assistants and Planning Assistants) and conducts performance reviews.
- Provides overall support to the Project Manager II and Branch Manager.
- Gathers expertise and knowledge of emerging policies, practices, and technologies related to the development of shared micromobility systems in North America.
- Creates and manages the station siting internal review process.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for electrical engineering design work and serving as Engineer of Record (EOR) for street lighting and power distribution designs on assigned projects. In addition, Electrical Design Engineer will provide project coordination/managing, cost estimates, third-party design reviews, follow EGBC quality management guides and perform other duties related to City's electrical infrastructure and within responsibilities of Electrical Design Branch. The successful candidate will also work in electrical work related to pump stations, EV and landfill.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this role include, but may not be limited, to the following:
- Serve as Engineer of Record on internal electrical design projects
- Electrical engineering design work (power distribution, street lighting etc.)
- Review designs prepared by electrical consultants/utilities/developers for electrical off-site scope
- Resolve electrical design issues throughout project lifecycle as required
- Performs quality audits/control reviews of work developed by peers, designers and drafters
- Assist in the preparation of the department’s specific standards and procedures
- Provide estimates for the engineering budget and schedule
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that design services are provided within projects timelines
- Explore and implement cost effective ways of delivering services
- Provide management with project updates
- Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer
- Develop business cases and provide strategic analysis for new and emerging initiatives
- Directly supervise electrical designers assigned to assigned projects ensuring that their work meet all regulatory requirements
- Represent the City on other committees and working groups
- Investigate, analyze and respond to 311 service requests/concerns from Citizens related to electrical infrastructure
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia
- A minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience
- Accredited project management training (e.g. PMP certification, tertiary qualification) and/or construction management experience would be an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards, and specifications, as they relate to the municipal environment (IES RP-8, CEC etc)
- Working knowledge of quality management systems, ideally EGBC’s PGA
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills in a high volume and high stress environment
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work and think strategically, including experience with business case composition and evaluation
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite.
