Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Parks Supervisor, this position performs a variety of technical, operational, supervisory and administrative tasks related to the sports fields program.

Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Supervises, trains, directs, schedules, and evaluates, including completion of annual performance reviews, assigned staff.
2.    Ensures that various inspection reports, daily reports, time sheets, leave report forms, staff injury investigation reports, vehicle and equipment accident reports, etc. are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
3.    Assists with the procurement and delivery of operational materials and supplies to field staff.
4.    Operates, schedules and conducts minor repairs on semi and manual irrigation systems.
5.    Assists with the review and revision of operational documentation; i.e. job numbers, maintenance routes, inventories, etc.
6.    Assists with the resolution of public and outside interest groups operational concerns and coordinates required activities.
7.    Assists with the development of processes, policies, standards and specifications.
8.    Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees and the general public in accordance with the Saskatchewan Employment Act, Saskatchewan Health Regulations and Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and the City of Saskatoon’s administrative Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures.  Maintains and monitors programs which affect public health and safety.
9.    Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

•    Grade 12 education.
•    Successful completion of a diploma in horticulture.
•    Three years’ progressively responsible experience in grounds maintenance or related field, including one year supervising staff.
•    Successful completion of, or ability to successfully complete, recognized supervisory courses.
•    Possession of, or ability to obtain within three months after hire, all relevant Saskatchewan Pesticide Applicator Permits.
•    Possession of, or ability to obtain, within one year after date of hire, a valid first aid certificate.
•    Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months after hire, a valid Saskatchewan Class 3A Driver's Licence.
•    Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
•    Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
•    Considerable knowledge of the operation and maintenance of parks equipment and irrigation systems.
•    Considerable knowledge of horticultural practices pertaining to turf management, pests, diseases, and floral and arboricultural maintenance.
•    Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations as they pertain to the Parks Division.
•    Demonstrated ability to supervise, direct train, develop and assess staff.
•    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, assigned staff and the public.
•    Skill in the use of a computer with word-processing, spreadsheet and database software 
•    Physical ability to perform the assigned duties, including outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

The starting Diesel Mechanic rate is $45.24 per hour with a $15,000 signing bonus. The Diesel Mechanic classification will be determined by experience and current shop mix.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Make the evaluation of parts for reuse, repair or replacement
  • Work to blueprints, schematic drawings, service manual and other like information. Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment

  • Perform modification and construct mechanical assemblies
  • Perform maintenance and low voltage repairs of locomotive electrical systems

  • Operate equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes and forklifts to assist in assignments
  • Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalence Diploma
  • Must have completed previous apprenticeship and ability to provide proof of apprenticeship
  • Must have 6 years practical or general experience in mentioned apprenticeship applicable to the trade or possess a Unifor Local Journeyman/Journeywomen 101R card 
  • Must Possess one of the following; Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanics Certification, Journeyman Automotive Technician Certification, and Journeyman Electrician Certification
  • Strong problem solving and computer skills
  • Must be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete job
  • Will be required to obtain all CPKC certification pertaining to specific tasks and assignments
  • CPKC operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; must be able to work on various shifts and days off

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Graduation from a recognized, two-year, post-secondary architectural, mechanical, civil or other related engineering technology program, plus five years’ progressive related building construction experience

  • Possession of a Saskatchewan Journeyman Carpenter Certificate, including completion of a recognized apprenticeship program plus five years' progressive related journeyman trade experience

Job Details

The sales merchandiser contributes to the success of Frito Lay Canada by providing exceptional customer service to various large and small accounts, such as supermarkets and variety stores. This includes merchandising products, freshness rotation, display set up and maintenance, storage room organization and movement of product from storage to the sales floor.

Compensation:$924 weekly

Responsibilities

  • Merchandise store shelving, racks and displays with PepsiCo products 
  • Utilize Point-of-Sale materials 
  • Keep back-room stock in neat and orderly condition, ensure shelving cleanliness is maintained 
  • Provide excellent service to assigned accounts; create and maintain goodwill with all customers 
  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and productive manner 

 

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record and a reliable vehicle 
  • Merchandising or retail customer service experience is helpful, but not necessary 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision 
  • Must be able to perform frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, reaching over shoulder 
  • Able to lift 50 plus poundsand push or pull up to 200 pounds using a powered pallet jack

Job Details

To support the Engineering team in maintaining the overall appearance and internal workings of the Hotel.

  • Maintaining the physical appearance and overall condition of all public areas such as lounges, health club, public washrooms, and back of house areas
  • Frequent testing of the chemical levels of the pool and whirlpool
  • Cleaning pool and whirlpool filters, backwash, and tiles to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Maintaining the physical appearance of the grounds including collecting garbage, plowing and shoveling snow, cutting grass, and pruning shrubbery and trees
  • Attending to scheduled room checks and room calls, noting condition of rooms and required repairs

 

Qualifications

 

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Plumbing or electrical training is an asset
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Demonstrates a mechanical aptitude
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team
