Job Details

Under supervision of the Education and Environmental Performance Manager, this position coordinates environmental programs, plans, and projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers various corporate and community programs related to environmental initiatives such as Student Action for a Sustainable Future, Healthy Yards, Environmental Cash Grant, Yellowfish Road and Sanitary Sewer education, and other new environmental projects and programs.  
  • Works closely with communications staff and contractors to facilitate the development of communication campaigns to support programs and communicate environmental messages.  This may involve creating content, reviewing materials, updating the website, and delivering education at public events, community meetings, or exhibits. 
  • Monitors and measures environmental programs and other environmental performance metrics and develops, prepares, and presents reports.
  • Acts as a liaison for the Sustainability Department with community associations, environmental organizations, City departments, and other agencies and organizations involved in environmental initiatives.
  • Serves on various committees to elicit Saskatoon resident cooperation and participation in the implementation of various environmental programs and projects.
  • Assists with securing project funding from both internal and external sources, this may include preparation of and reporting on grant applications and preparing internal reports and memos.
  • Assists in the development of strategic and business plans on environmental and sustainability initiatives by working with consultants, advising on content, and facilitating reviews and advice from other City staff.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in a related field.
  • Four years' experience in environmental sustainability field related to environmental programs, and/or community education.  
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating safe driving record.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Knowledge of environmental education,  program development and program delivery.
  • Knowledge of research, planning and evaluation processes as they relate to environmental projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, including preparing and presenting complex technical reports.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular part-time Driver (Material Handler) to join our dynamic Logistics  team.

 

The Logistics team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by utilizingbest practices to ensure the safe transportation of personnel, donors, equipment, blood products and supplies. Our Drivers do more than drive.In this role, you will assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure mobile donor events are ready for use in addition to transporting people and products integral to Canada’s Lifeline.

Formula for success

  • Utilizing your experience with driving and transportation you will ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures and are kept at an appropriate temperature. You will also ensure the safety of employees, donors and/or volunteers travelling with you. 
  • Drawing on your knowledge of safe transportation procedures and your attention to detail, you will conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order, and accurately complete all required documentation. 
  • Leveraging your customer service skills, you will assist the collections team by greeting and helping donors book or rebook appointments as required. 
  • You will assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing your familiarity with technology and aptitude for learning new programs.  
  • Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will work with staff to carry and set up/dismantle equipment and supplies. You will also load and unload equipment and supplies at donor centre sites and upon return to centre.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 drivers license or 1-3 with knowledge test and a clean commercial drivers abstract from within the last 30 days. 
  • Minimum 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years. 
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs. 
  • A willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English. A second language is considered an asset.

  • Travel will be required to attend mobile events, and transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services.
  • Physical capability to load, unload, push and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies. This will include stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to [11 kg (25 lbs.) OR 23 kg (50 lbs.)], pulling, and pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs.) on a wheeled platform.

•    Must maintain current or equivalent certifications and continue in on-going education to support staff and SFD level of service requirements. 
•    Successful completion of corporate supervisory training within one year of hire date.
•    Successful completion of Occupational Health and Safety Level 1 & 2 within one year of hire date.
•    Possession of a valid 5 driver’s license.
•    Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record. 
•    Extensive knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment relating to firefighting equipment.

Under the supervision of the Service Saskatoon Customer Care Centre Supervisor, this position is responsible to provide support and information to customers regarding civic programs and civic services to ensures an exceptional customer experience. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receives, documents and responds to a variety of emergent and non-emergent customer inquiries, service requests, concerns and complaints through various communication networks. Compiles, records and tracks customer feedback.  
  • Communicates information to the citizens verbally and in writing ensuring responses are communicated as outlined within corporate processes and established service levels.   
  • Provides 24 hour – 7 days a week program and service support for the Citizens of Saskatoon.
  • Provides professional in-person customer service and customer care by educating citizens on availability and use of online services. 
  • Utilizes all functions within and supports training of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Manages and maintains information in the corporate knowledge database.
  • Updates communication for service alerts on the City website.
  • Responds to or redirects customer inquiries to the appropriate department and performs customer call backs after inquiry investigations, or as requested by Supervisor.  
  • Receives and dispatches work to field staff, prioritizes calls according to urgency and importance and communicates with emergency services, as required. 
  • Dispatches crews, vehicles or other field units to appropriate locations by use of radio, phone or computer. Monitors the route and status of field units to prioritize work schedule. Provides field units with information about work orders, traffic, obstacles, and requirements. 
  • Acts as a liaison with scheduling groups and field staff to ensure work is completed and arranges overtime callouts as determined by established protocol.
  • Contacts Management on-call groups during emergency situations and for approval of additional staff in order to maintain service levels, 
  • Provides suggestions and feedback to improve services offered, departmental processes and procedures citizen services-based knowledge and experience. 
  • Assists with the training of new staff, as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements: 

  • Graduation from a business college

Or

  • Graduation from a one-year post-secondary business-related program.
  • Four years’ related customer service and operational dispatch experience, including resolving concerns of customers and experience working in a customer service business systems Hosted Contact Centre and CRM.
  • Typing speed of 55 w.p.m.
  • Successful completion of, or ability to successfully complete customer service training.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: 

  • Knowledge of office principles, procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, best practices, methods and/or tools used to store and deliver information such as interactive media, social media, or publication.
  • Ability to work as a team member with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed when faced with emergent situation
  • Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and effectively with customers.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time.

Duties & Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Possession of a valid provincial or inter-provincial Journeyperson designation in Automotive, Truck and Transport, or Heavy-Duty mechanics. Possession of a recognized Apprenticeship Certificate is preferred.
  • Five years of Journeyperson experience with vehicles, large equipment and heavy-duty truck repairs.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 3A Driver's Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of WHMIS training certificate, training provided upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of the operation and use of current test equipment.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Knowledge of electronic engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air/hydraulic brakes and other on-board vehicle systems.
