PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Manufacturing Engineer is working with production to ensure manufacturing data is in place, issues are addressed appropriately, data analysis and ensure process improvement opportunities are raised and implemented.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Inspects, validates, records, and communicates if all design requirements have been met
  • Performs investigational analysis to provide recommendations on solution design feasibility

Reporting to the Manager of Transit & Fleet Maintenance, this position manages and directs all activities and staff related to the design and delivery of comprehensive maintenance programs for the Transit & Fleets services. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participates in strategic and tactical planning required to establish long- and short-term plans for the delivery of maintenance services.
  • Ensures compliance with all related regulatory requirements.
  • Provides leadership and guidance in all technical planning related to the development of maintenance programs and fleet stores.

Typically, the educational knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are obtained through the successful attainment of a University Degree in Engineering Technology, Management Degree and/or Journeyperson Status in the vehicle repair trades. Comprehensive knowledge of fleet service operations and management, including operational and decision-making processes including design and development of analytical reports, plus five years operations and supervisory experience within a fleet management environment. 

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, Provincial, and City bylaws, policies, procedures, and legislation, including the Highway Traffic Act, Transport Canada Acts and Regulations
     
  • Knowledge of budgeting, planning, organization, and management. Ability to supervise and motivate staff.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development of branch business plans. Demonstrated leadership skills in performance management including planning and delegating work to ensure assigned tasks and duties are effectively and efficiently completed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and in a logical manner.

Working/Other Conditions

  • Provide in person services to customers to process applications, transfer services, service order requests, issue passes and permits and sell promotional items.
  • Calculate, collect, and process payments. Negotiate suitable payment arrangements to clear outstanding and arrears balances and refer collection activity as appropriate.

Education & Experience:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are obtained through successful completion of Grade Twelve, and three (3) years’ experience in a front-line customer service environment. Call Centre experience and additional customer service training is an asset.
