RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Valid provincial Security Guard License 
  • Working knowledge of security operations and procedures
  • Reliable means of transportation
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports
  • Basic computer skills such as the ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Able to walk, stand, and conduct patrols
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate a sweeper engaged in the sweeping of roadways and bike lanes

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 10

  • Must be COE trained and passed on both Sweeper and Plow/Sander

It is home to the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League as well as hosting sold out concerts and international sporting events in soccer, rugby and athletics. Our Security Guards are critical to the success of these events and the venues/facilities where they are posted. In this role, you will play an essential part in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience at all events through general security enforcement. You will succeed if you can perform all your tasks in a respectful, inclusive and service-minded way. 

With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Greet patrons in a friendly and courteous manner as they enter the facility
  • Review credentials at access control points
  • Restrict admittance to ticket holders, direct media and VIPs
  • Restrict entry and re-entry to Stadium events
  • Direct patrons, visitors and staff to specific areas/gates
  • Enforce stadium rules and regulations
  • Conduct patrols and observe/report on incidents
  • Watch the crowd for prohibited items and actions
  • Escalate situations appropriately to Command Centre and Edmonton Police Services in emergency situations
  • Conduct bag and personal searches
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent or higher
  • Currently licenced under the Security Services and Investigators Act by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, and be in good standing Please attach your security license to your application
  • Some experience working as a security guard at a live entertainment venue or related experience is preferred
  • ProServe Liquor Staff training and ProTect Security Staff Training are required and must be obtained prior to starting your role
  • Additional security certifications are an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, including the ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and information
  • Ability to make decisions and resolve conflict in difficult situations in an influential, professional, respectful and inclusive way
  • Excellent problem solving, judgment and negotiation skills
