Main Purpose and Function

Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst - Corporate Support, the Financial Analyst is a strategic finance partner to a range of corporate support service groups including Finance & Supply Chain Management, Legal Services, City Clerks, the City Manager’s office, Human Resources, Mayor and Council and Office of the Chief Safety Officer. The Financial Analyst is a key point of contact for strategic financial decision making for these groups. This includes understanding the financial implications of decisions, long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.

 

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

  • Budgeting, Reporting, Forecasting and Operational Support
  • Strategic financial advice and decision support
  • Explain monthly actual financial results and forecast future results
  • Link department strategies and City priorities to the budget
  • Works with City-wide FP&A, Financial Services, Supply Chain and other stakeholders to provide capital budget management support
  • Provides financial and budget management support to the operations group with shopping cart approval processes and prepares financial summaries for bid committee reports for contract management
  • Sets up WBS numbers in SAP for approved capital project and creates orders for Project Managers to support with capital project budget management and monitoring
  • Assists Management in developing and analyzing business cases for proposed projects, including cost benefit analysis to justify spending proposal and quantifies impact on budgets and forecasts
  • Develops and maintains all necessary financial models
  • Assists with development and review of financial and administrative policies including recommending and validating appropriate funding sources
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline
  • A professional accounting designation such as CA, CGA or CMA or MBA with a combination of experience and education related to the requirements of the position
  • Minimum 4 - 5 years post designation experience in budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting, reporting, and accounting
  • Strong financial systems experience preferably within an ERP environment - experience with financial modules of SAP would be an asset
  • Strong financial modelling and business case analysis experience
  • Good working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as they relate to local government including PSAB
  • Experience with preparing presentations for Senior Management
  • Formal reporting writing experience

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite.  At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.

The Logistics team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by utilizingbest practices to ensure the safe transportation of personnel, donors, equipment, blood products and supplies. Formula for success

  • Utilizing your experience with driving and transportation you will ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures and are kept at an appropriate temperature. You will also ensure the safety of employees, donors and/or volunteers travelling with you. 
  • Drawing on your knowledge of safe transportation procedures and your attention to detail, you will conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working order, and accurately complete all required documentation. 
  • Leveraging your customer service skills, you will assist the collections team by greeting and helping donors book or rebook appointments as required. 
  • You will assist with setting up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing your familiarity with technology and aptitude for learning new programs.  
  • Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will work with staff to carry and set up/dismantle equipment and supplies. You will also load and unload equipment and supplies at donor centre sites and upon return to centre.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must possess a valid British Columbia, unrestricted class 4 drivers license and a clean commercial drivers abstract from within the last 30 days. 
  • Minimum 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver, within the last 3 years. 
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs. 
  • A willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English. A second language is considered an asset.

  • Current schedule, shifts range from 4-7.5 hours, overtime may be required. Monday to Sunday. Start times could be any time between: 07:30-1745hrs. Rest days: Sunday/Monday or Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday or Thursday/Friday or Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.  Overnights may be required during shift coverage as elected by the employee.
  • There will be no long haul or cross border driving required. 
  • Travel will be required to Victoria, Duncan, Port Alberni, Ladysmith, Qualicum Beach, Courtney, Comox, and Campbell River. Additional coverage may be required as elected by the employee to Vancouver/Lower Mainland and BC interior. Must be willing to attending training in Vancouver for 3 weeks. 
  • Travel will be required to attend mobile events, and transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services.

What you'll do here:

  • Be responsible for providing fast-paced front-line customer service within the Service Centre.

What you bring to the table:      

  • Availability to work a total of 35 hours per week within the Intact Service Centre operating hours: Monday to Friday 6:45 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturdays from 9:00AM – 5:00PM on a rotating basis.
  • Ability to work on-site at the Intact Service Center in North-East Calgary, work from home is not offered nor is any flexible work arrangement.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license, with a clean driving record; able to drive automatic, and ability to drive manual transmission is an asset; and prepared for light physical work cleaning vehicles is an asset.
  • Able to assist with Valet duties as required. This can include washing vehicles, vehicle deliveries, and valeting a vehicle to our Rely vendors.
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Legendary customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with and solve problems involving specific parameters in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace, high pressure environment.
  • Team player with ability to share job responsibilities of others when called on.
  • Knowledge of Insurance is an asset.
  • Familiarity with MS Office products.

Warehouse Associate II impacts the organization by meeting specific operational key performance indicators. This experienced employee has a general knowledge of warehousing terminology and practices. This position is responsible for warehouse functions including, but not limited to, unloading, sorting, picking, kitting, packing, shipping and cycle counts and may be responsible for multiple accounts. The person in this position may use PC-based warehouse management systems to track packages, confirm shipments, print labels and perform inventory counts. The Warehouse Associate II may use RF Scanners, carts, pallet jacks and/or forklifts. This employee may have direct customer and vendor contact and works under supervision by the Warehouse Lead or Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and inspect inbound product according to the established SOPs.

  • Put away product in correct location based on SOPs.

  • Receive returns, count and confirm quantities, determine condition and complete paperwork (e.g., separate invoices and match to bills).

  • Obtain orders, prioritize if necessary, and select products from the proper locations.

  • Obtain and properly match up reprinted orders.

  • Verify accuracy of orders picked, including product name and size, product code, lot number, expiration date, and quantity.  Escalate concerns to Lead or Supervisor.

  • Stage and securely pack product based on SOPs.

  • Place the appropriate documentation with each order and ensure all cases are clearly labelled and accurately marked (e.g., pick/pack slips, refrigerate stickers).

  • Arrange for pick-up of shipments, contact carriers for ETA, and coordinate schedule.

  • Handle products and perform duties according to client procedures, GMP/SOP and government/compliance regulations.

  • Palletize cases, wrap, and load skids onto trailers.

  • Create shipping labels and other paperwork for parcels and LTL skid shipments (e.g., waybills, shipping manifests, shipping labels); maintain accurate shipping data in warehouse management system.

  • Stage and coordinate outbound shipments.

  • Safely operate various power equipment including, but not limited to, pallet movers, forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers.

  • Use RF Scanners to electronically scan barcodes.

  • Enter inventory into warehouse management system, verify information accuracy, and perform scheduled processes (e.g., billing, reports, issue sheets) according to SOPs.

  • Conduct physical inventory or cycle counts daily, weekly and/or monthly based on SOPs.

  • Develop physical inventory plan, monitor physical inventories, identify all OS&D (over stock/shortages/damages), and report or correct any errors or discrepancies.

  • Quickly respond (via email or phone) to customer/client inquiries, resolve problems, and communicate service issues to Supervisor.

  • Compile daily and monthly client reports per SOP, including customer KPI reports.

  • Encourage safe work practices in others, point out areas where safety training and enforcement is needed, and participate on Comprehensive Health & Safety Program (CHSP) committee.

  • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order (e.g., counter balance/doors/docks/signal lights).

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Warehouse experience required.
