How you will help

 

  • In collaboration with the dedicated Logistics management team, ensure that as the business grows, operational capabilities meet or exceed all customer and company cost requirements per unit, quality of service and responsiveness.  
  • Develop a culture of safety, professionalism and service excellence in all areas of operations. Maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and provincial transportation requirements and the on-site customer safety program.  
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations on operational objectives, and contribute to future innovations.

  • Ensure that all incidents (such as personal injuries, road accidents, spills, etc.) are promptly reported, documented, root causes identified and corrective/preventive measures implemented. 
  • Be responsible for the time/punctuality reporting function to ensure drivers are scheduled to complete company deliveries on time, including customer service reporting for customer relations . 
  • Be responsible for managing driver relationships, including but not limited to driver schedules, equipment usage and driver contracts. 
  • Ensure that a preventive maintenance program is in place and that it is effective. 
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees. Set individual objectives, carry out performance evaluations, recommend salary measures and implement succession planning. Oversee and manage professional development to support the leadership development program. 
  • Use superior communication skills to motivate staff and effectively train colleagues, managers and customers. 
  • Develop, implement and monitor on a monthly basis an operational “dashboard” for visual understanding of performance and output in relation to the elements of the plan. 
  • Ensure that all external stakeholder processes are followed and adhered to (Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Simplified Systems of Operations (SOS) and Job Entry Subsystem (JES)) 
  • Other related tasks that may be required 

 

 Your skills and experience: 

 

  • Must have at least a high school diploma, with preference for post-secondary studies (general stream), or a combination of education and experience. 
  • Previous experience in the field of transportation or operational management is preferred, various functions in the field of transportation would be beneficial  
  • Previous experience in dispatching, supervising and managing transport docks 
  • Communication skills - advanced 
  • Computer skills – precision, MS products, AS400, web based programs, RF scanners. 
  • Proven customer relations skills 
  • Strong conflict resolution skills 
  • Able to meet deadlines in a highly transactional environment, must have a keen eye for emergencies 
  • Ability to advocate for business needs collaboratively with colleagues

What you will do

  • Performing tasks associated with planning and budgeting administration, such as budget tracking, forecasting and invoice processing.
  • Provide support for meetings (e.g booking meeting rooms, ensuring effective functioning of audio and visual equipment) and document minutes with internal and external clients; tracks progress and takes appropriate follow-up action to ensure the completion of tasks. 
  • Manage the administrative aspects of the office, work unit or projects to ensure efficient operations and provide a full range of administrative support and assistance to the team in daily activities.

What you need to succeed

  • Experience in procurement practices, policies and compliance, in addition to invoice tracking 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Solid organizational skills, analytical skills, and project support experience 
  • Knowledge of transportation, shipping, receiving and warehouse storage procedures and Quality Management best practices 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaborative working relationships among internal colleagues and external stakeholders and suppliers 
  • Proven ability to work both independently with limited supervision and as a member of a team, under tight deadlines 
  • Knowledge of the functions of Currency and of its connections to other Bank departments, especially the Agency Operational Centers (AOCs),

Your education and experience 
This position requires a relevant university/college degree (e.g. business services certificate, business administration, etc.) and 2 to 3 years of progressively more experience working in an administrative and analytic support role OR an equivalent mix of education and experience may be considered.

Air Canada is presently looking for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time position as of a Facility Maintenance Mechanic at Montreal Dorval.

Description: 

  • Perform preventative maintenance & servicing to Building related mechanical equipment.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot faulty Hangar Doors, Overhead doors, fire doors, etc.
  • Ability to install, maintain, repair, dismantle, and reassemble machinery.
  • Ability to use welding equipment, hand, and power tools as necessary.
  • Perform minor repairs including replacement of gearboxes, sprockets, chains, door
    panels
  • Perform visual inspections of buildings to maintain Building Code standards.
  • Ability to do repair and maintenance on HVAC unit.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe manner and complies with applicable industry
    standards.
  • Performing other facility related duties as requested.
  • Team oriented individual with demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and self
    directed.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Able to work shifts, including weekends & participate in on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • Must posses valid Driver’s licence with clean abstract
  • Must posses an Interprovincial Journeyman Millwright license or Red Seal
  • Minimum 3 years field experience.
  • Knowledge of building mechanics, Hangar door systems, control systems, BMS system (Trane/Siemens), Mechanical system operation, MIG welding, CMMS
  • Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be detailed oriented.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, e-mail and internet).
  • Employees in this role, conduct safety-critical work and as such, Air Canada medical standards must be met in order to qualify for the role. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including a drug and alcohol test and are expected to be free of any intoxicating substances.

Job Details

Responsible for the instruction of the Driver Competencies curriculum to selected Driver Interns on a daily basis. The Driver Trainer will be responsible for teaching, coaching and mentoring the candidate evaluating performance progress safety awareness.

How You’ll Help

  • Act as a trainer, coach and mentor to Driver candidates selected for the Driver Internship program
  • Teach and instruct candidates on the Driver Core Competencies to master the competencies in order for the Driver Candidate can operate safely and independently on public roads and highways
  • Providing coaching and instruction on the “Rules of the Road” to each Driver candidate ensuring the candidates fully understands the regulatory requirements for documentation required to operate under a Class 1/Commercial Drivers License (CDL

Your Skills & Experience: 

  • Minimum Secondary School completion and completion of all required safety related programs (i.e.: Winter Driving, Air Brakes, Hazardous Loads).
  • An alternate suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ driving experience and 2-years as a Driver Instructor in the transportation industry or a combination with a strong safety record.
  • Passionate about trucking and the opportunities the industry and the Company presents
  • Safety first attitude
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Solid computer skills related to truck systems (i.e: ELD, Peoplenet,etc.)
